Personally, I think the Kijins by themselves had more than enough power to kill Geld had they kept attacking and not letting him recover over and over. Buuut anime logic: no one but the main character can kill the boss lol Maybe it's explained in the light novels, but I laughed pretty hard when Rimuru pulled "auto-battle" bullshit out. Like, we never saw him use such an OP tactic before or even talk about it with Great Sage, but suddenly he can. XD

In hindsight this is one of the things that really hurt the writing. Autobattle is... It just kills it when the AI does it for you.
