Dale Jennings is a 10 on the cuteness aggression scale for me. Do you watch cast interviews? If so, once you’re closer to Season 3, I really recommend watching Sam’s episode of the emsolation podcast. The co-host is the writer/creator of The Newsreader and they get on wonderfully. He’s usually not that relaxed in interviews. Also another IWTV connection: every episode is directed by Emma Freeman, who directed the 2x06 and 2x07 of IWTV.

i love that we all came for sam reid’s dale but everyone falls in love with anna torv’s helen. i just love how passionate she is about her work and how, despite the blatant sexism she has to face , she is undeniably excellent at what she does! dale imo is like that one meme of the dog with the propeller hat and a giant rainbow lollipop skfksfjsjd i keep saying it’s so weird to listen to like butterscotch bitch or long face and think… oh yeah that’s dale jennings singing lol actually you made me realize i also have never seen two male newsreaders on the news before! huh! idk what that means exactly but i never gave it much thought lol i get what you mean as an american too that we don’t really ever see much outside of our own media! it’s cool to see how another country would perceive our news and also how they handle their own news bc it truly is like a different world lol. yes something i love about this show is how it depicts how they almost desensitize themselves to the actual content of the news and focus on newsreading as like… a performance. it’s interesting bc as news consumers it feels kinda icky but it’s the nature of their job. i’ve seen some ppl say it reminds them of mad men, maybe that’s the show you were thinking of? well anyway i’m merely one girl lol but i’ll def be subbing for more of these even if they’re just patreon exclusives! it’s not a popular show at all but it’s honestly just underrated bc it’s perfect imo. there are maybe like two other reactors i’ve seen do this show as a patreon exclusive too, so i cherish each one of yall lmfao

Yes! I wasn’t sure if Sam’s performance would eclipse the rest of the cast because of bias, but Anna Torv has already won me over! Love a woman who’s talented and knows it! 😆 I had to look up the meme, but I 100% agree! Part of me was wondering is there would be some sort of dark undercurrent to his character (and there may be something that reveals itself later) but feels so genuinely pure. Such whiplash from TVL lol. Yeah, I hadn’t thought about it until now either. I wonder when that prescedent was set. And yeah, it’s a fascinating look “outside” that I’ve never seen or considered before. Hmmm, maybe Mad Men? Not sure yet. I do love that Helen wouldn’t look at the footage ahead of time and allowed her reaction to be authentic even within the expectations for this dispassionate performance on screen. It is an odd dynamic though. Maintaining a professional distance from what you’re reporting on while maintaining a level of respect. Curious if they explore that tension a bit more in the series. But yay! I can also imagine this
