The reason why Neville was so affected when Moody did the torture curse on the spider is because Voldemort did that spell on his parents trying to get information out of them and he tortured them so bad that the parents are literally insane now, not dead but like in a asylum 💔 that’s why he lives with his grandmother

Of course because it’s a movie adaptation it does leave out a lot of context. If you guys read you should read each book after watching its movie counterpart. It’s cool how as Harry gets older the movies get darker and more suitable for an older audience it’s like we’re growing with him.

Also you know how professor moody was talking about the 3 unforgivable curses that can land you in Azkaban, the first one being the imperious curse that basically controls the mind. So a few of the deaths eaters after the death of Voldemort 13 years ago claimed that they were under the curse and that’s why they did what they did including Lucius Malfoy and that’s how he’s gotten away with it. But a lot of wizards don’t believe them of course, and rightfully so.
