VarCleaner v1.1.0 — Duplicate .var Cleaner for VAM
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Release Date : 2026-07-13
Requirements : Windows 10 / 11 (no PowerShell modules or extra runtimes needed)
License : Free
■ What Is This?
If you've been hoarding VARs for a while, your AddonPackages folder
probably looks something like this:
Author.Dress.1.var
Author.Dress.2.var
Author.Dress.3.var ← you really only need the latest
VarCleaner scans your packages, groups them by name, finds old
duplicates, and lets you delete them to the Recycle Bin — all
through a simple GUI. No command-line fiddling required.
■ Why VarCleaner?
✅ Smart version detection — recognizes trailing version numbers
✅ Safe deletion — send to Recycle Bin, restore anytime
✅ One-click backup — copy old files elsewhere before deleting
✅ Wildcard exclusions — skip packages matching custom patterns
✅ Four languages — English / 中文 / 日本語 / 한국어
✅ Standalone EXE — double-click to run, zero dependencies
■ What's New in v1.1.0
🆕 Depth-aware cross-directory priority
When the same file exists in both a subfolder and the root,
the subfolder copy is kept and the root copy is flagged for
deletion. Creator sub-packages are now safe from accidental
removal.
🆕 Empty-state hint
When no duplicates are found, a subtle text message appears
in the results area instead of an intrusive popup.
🆕 Language preference persistence
Your language choice is saved automatically and restored the
next time you launch the tool.
🆕 Backup folder structure preservation
Files inside subfolders keep their relative paths when
backed up — no more flat-file chaos.
🆕 Standalone EXE build with custom icon
A clean purple-red "Var" icon with a tiny brush accent.
No PowerShell required.
⚡ Scan performance improvement
Internal data collection switched to pipeline aggregation
for noticeably faster scans on large folders.
■ How to Use (30 Seconds)
1. Drop the VarCleaner folder into VAM\AddonPackages
2. Double-click VarCleaner.exe
3. Click Scan — wait for results
4. Check the old versions you want to remove
5. Click Remove Selected (or Backup Selected first)
6. Done!
■ Notes
• Deleted files go to the Recycle Bin — easily recoverable
• Use Backup Selected if you want an extra safety net
• The tool scans the parent folder by default; use Browse to
point it anywhere else
• Check output.log if something goes wrong, and include it
when reporting issues
