Oil painting and how it translates to digital coloring... (Patreon)
Content
As a young student I would dabble in oil paint. I did a lot of portraits. Maybe just under a thousand of them. Not all finished and most of them were completed in 2.5 hours. When i was done painting at school I would go home and work on digital art and found that I would be moving so much more efficiently because I spent most of the day deliberately mixing oil colors and meticulously brush stroking the transitions together. When it came to working on digital...it was like child's play. Your colors were instantly available and making rendering transitions between tones was much easier than oil.
I learned a lot from this man: Adam Nowak. https://www.instagram.com/adam_gram/?hl=en
A supremely skilled oil painter who's made a great transition to digital.
He's a year younger than me but his transitional stroking is applied in digital just like his oil painting. He's a true master please follow him and jump in his DM with as many color and rendering questions you can possibly think of. He'll gladly oblige. Truly a great person to learn color from!
