The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Tattoo. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

Tattoo:
An away team's encounter with hostile natives reminds Chakotay of when he disappointed his father as a child by not embracing his cultural traditions.

I thought it's a beer cozy, not coozy.

RemiTheNerd

I really hope Bob wasn't left with a scar on his butt from that accident!

Dee McGee

My haiku for Tattoo: A spirit planet Chakotay childhood flashbacks The Doctor injured.

Suzanne Hollifield Eller

I just read an interesting book of essays named Theology and Star Trek. It must be a textbook because it was $45 on my Kindle, but it was well worth it.

Joseph Bennett

This episode wasn't as insensitive culturally because they wisely choose to be incredibly vague when it comes to details about his tribe and the aliens he meets.

Rich Gross

I’m impressed with how much Robbie remembered this time! I haven’t watched this episode in a long time, but I watched it earlier today in preparation for this episode of the podcast, and I don’t think I would have done much better of a job describing it, even having just watched it! One thing, though, Robbie: It cracked me up seeing you pull out a several-models (and years)-old Apple TV remote. Shall we start a fund to upgrade Robbie’s Apple TV?

N+D

Alas, poor Bob. That has to be a first, on so many levels.

The Delta Flyers, Butt Crack Edition

Dustin Snyder

omg. The Doctor on the bike. LOL!

Heather Kim

I enjoyed your new transition cards (don't know if that's what they're called). I love the new details in the illustrations! I also wanted to thank y'all for all the effort you put into this podcast every week. Watching the video version is one thing that I do for myself every week. I like the insiders' view and behind-the-scenes stuff. I watched the original run back in the day (bought myself a VCR just for the series!) And have enjoyed watching again with your insights as a companion.

Stephanie Baker

I could watch or listen to you guys all day. Thank you for the podcast.

Stephanie Baker

The aliens encounter Native people during an Ice Age on Earth before they spread South, so that they will carry their connection to Nature to all future generations and future tribes as they go.

Stephanie Baker

and Happy Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday (tomorrow for me)

Jasmin Kesselring

Thanks again for the good podcast and all the work you put into it! Does somebody know if they used a real language for the tribe actors to speak?

Moonglade

One of my favourite episodes of St: Voyager. Everything was perfect, good backstory on Chakotay, great acting from everyone, and of course the butt-crack. Loved the back-story on this bit. I think Beltran has said at cons that it was a stunt-butt double :D

Jennifer7895

I'm crying this episode was hilarious. I love all the added graphics!

Matt

Harry's face when Janeway sends him down to tend to the sick Doc...LOL!

Matt

I love how Robbie is holding onto this Belanna and Chakotay thing! I can see this going on every time those 2 are talking in any episode the rest of the way out..LOL

Matt

Delta Flyers Warp Particles Moonshine!

Matt

The new graphics are awesome! Well done production team! And calling Bob Picardo!! OMG!! LOL

Christopher Collins

I loved the animation of Robert Picardo on a bicycle. I also loved how Garrett tried making two phone calls and it made it to voice mail then Robert Duncan McNeil makes one call and gets an answer from Robert Picardo and remembers what alcohol he got and where he has it stored and all.

Christopher Collins

I was surprised Robert Beltran was not brought on as a guest for this particular episode. This is probably one of his biggest episodes for his character.

GAY Kleven-Lundstrom

This was so real... Thank you for all the anecdotes. I hope Robert Picardo is okay.

Karen Chuplis

THe phone call! HAHAHAHAHA. (Made me think of the opening scene of the West Wing pilot TBH).

Chris P

Poor Bob Picardo! Please state the nature of you bicycle emergency.

Harlon Rotnour

I can't believe you guys broke the Doctor... JK I hope he has a speedy recovery from his.... Butt wound...

TheDeltaFlyers

Guests are always based on availability. As much as we would like to have a guest in every episode, it's not always possible. ~RJ

Craig Drebit

I think this week's podcast was tops; best of them all! It had everything: amazing RJ toons 🍑, random phone calls 🚲, director chat, BTS stuff, funny stories and even OT football stuff to top it all off! Thanks DF Team!!!!

Craig Drebit

Also, Happy belated Mid-Autumn Festival!! 😊🥮🌕

Utopia Science Fiction

Thank you for doing the language segment at the end. This is such a great podcast to listen too!

Christopher Collins

I also enjoy the Russian Language segments. I don’t know if I will ever retain the information but I enjoy the segments. Especially since my Dad was a Russian linguist in the Air Force.

Samuel Beardsley

We call them stubbie holders here in Australia.

Stephanie G Williams

Y'all are hilarious! I just love you guys sooooo much, and more every time I see y'all. Soooo much buttcrack fun, then poor Picardo's mishap, Garrett's awesome rendition of a southern accent, and the cool spiritual discussion towards the end. I love it all. Extra love and hugs to sweet Robbie on the loss of his father.

James

After that I'm thinking of a patreon special. Robbie drunk dialling former castmates

Amber

Loved the phone call roulette (if only that could be another segment of the pod) 😆😆😆

Maggie Metz

Oh, so disillusioned.....a digital butt crack! I'm so crushed! Here was me thinking, all these years, it was the real thing !!! You boys totally CRACKED me up today. I so needed a good laugh!!

ArtRobot

Can we get an update on Picardo's upper butt cheek?

ArtRobot

I like the conversation about spirituality. Like Robbie, I was raised southern Baptist and became an agnostic/atheist as an adult. There's also an interesting discussion on the new official Star Trek podcast "The Pod Directive" in an episode with Reza Aslan about religion ("what is it?" Not all involve the supernatural) and its possible place in Star Trek and the future and how it *might* integrate more with science study. Spoiler, he believes science seeks to ask "How?" while religion seeks to answer "Why?". My religion might be Trek 🤔

Bree Boehlke

I don’t think I have laughed out loud this much in 2020. Thank you for this. Well needed and great information.

Carmen Puente

I will definitely buy a Delta Flyers vodka bottle!!

Victoria

The Native American consultant was a fraud?!?

Karen

When I rewatched this episode, I immediately recognized the man that played Chakotay's father as Henry Darrow. He played Don Alejandro de la Vega in the Family Channel version of Zorro. (And interestingly enough, played Zorro himself as a younger man.) That was one of my favorite shows as a kid. He played Chakotay’s father very similar in that he was enthusiastic, kind and compassionate. It definitely brought up warm, fuzzy feelings for me.

Bethany Avery

Great podcast guys loved every minute. The one thing that always takes me out of this episode is the extended shot of the aliens with the ancestors with the snow scape scrolling over them. I know it was an attempt to bring some visual to the data drop but It is too static for me. Almost makes me focus too much on the visual wondering if I’m missing subtle pieces that match the dialogue.

Jessica Edmonds

Chakotay went to a planet of rocks He took off everything, even his socks. Is the Doctor too sick? No, Kes played a trick. What his father had taught, he unlocks. -My friend David

Anne ROBERTZ

This is one of my all time favourite episodes!

Megan Moore

Why stubbie? Seems like a weird word for a can. Not that Koozie makes sense. Lol.

ST Fan CB

Henry Darrow (Chakotay's father) and Richard Fancy (Alien Leader) both also played Vulcan Admirals in separate episodes of TNG.

Christina

When this episode originally aired, I didn't much care for it, but it's since grown on me and I appreciate the substance.

Kristian Dalsjø

the people on the planet was the sky peoples decendants so you know who the people on the planet are
