The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch & recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang & Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Equinox, Part I. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

Equinox, Part I:
Voyager encounters the Equinox, a Starfleet science vessel also stranded in the Delta Quadrant; hostile aliens attack both ships as Janeway tries to figure out Equinox captain Rudy Ransom.

how about Harrissa Kimchi for a food nickname?

SnazzyO

It’s a good start with a compelling cliffhanger. Before Bosch, I always saw Titus Welliver in bad guy roles, so I knew he was up to no good tight from the get-go. And we know from Year of Hell, the Janeway never gave up her principles under rough circumstances. So I think she earned the moral high ground in Part 1.

Dee McGee

This is one of those two-parters where I thought Part 1 was not as good as Part 2.

Don Eitner

Tuvok + Neelix = Twix

sab ewell

I'm sure you know by now but the hair for B'Elanna was for Barge of the Dead which they knew was coming up because of the tie in books. They wanted to give her a more Klingon look. At least that's what I remember reading somewhere.

Jill Deyoe

This might be my favorite podcast yet, even if the episode isn’t (although it’s in hubby’s top 5.) I’d really love to see Robbie’s hippie, free-love version; it sounds like it would be a fantastic Voyager version of the Naked Now(TNG)/the Naked Time(TOS). We’ve had a lot of fun playing around and coming up with lists of food nicknames in our house for years and we’re convinced that Janeway calls Chakotay “Cookie Lips” behind closed doors.

James Morrow

That post credit scene made me howl. Rebecca-thank you for your editing and for the return of the Poop Alien (TM Paramount Pictures Corp). :-)

Craig Main

Damn. If he thought “Its their mistake” was harsh just wait for next week

DogBlud

In fairness to Robbie, he was technically on the right track. This *is* one of the more notable 'ppl losing their damn minds' episode, just not for the reasons he said.

bakura

On an Interesting note apparently the reason it cliffhanger's the way it does is because Kate was thinking of leaving the show, infact in an interview sometime after this she said something along the lines of "as far as I'm concerned she's (janeway) dead". Obviously that didn't happen in the end and good thing too.

Mary Burch

Garrett, the pronunciation must be a Southern thing (or thang, if you will). I grew up in Oklahoma and I also say "equinox" with a short e.

Lisa Minnesma

The improv at the end made me laugh out loud!!!

B obrien

Robbie sorry to hear you and Rebecca can’t make Star Trek Las Vegas. 😞

Tashicat

Why didn't she teach Tom the equations she taught Max (Ol Smokey)?...well... to be fair, did Tom ever ask her to or show interest in that specific area? Or was he always too busy rebuilding hot-rods on the holodeck? ;p

Tashicat

So not to put anyone on the spot or anything, but are we really not gonna talk about how James Morrow is both a DFpatron AND a character from Equinox? (the dude yelling incomprehensibly and firing a phaser wildly) [I swear I'm just nosy, not a creeper, plz don't ban me for asking]

Jamason Isenburg

Absolutely love the action figure ending! 😂👌

AM Marquez

Loved Robbie's t-shirt!

Luz R

I agree with Garrett! Max knew and it was a dick move cuz he's the absolute worst

Estelle Keller

The action figure action at the end was amazing. I laughed so hard.

Dustin Snyder

lol you two say "Equinox" like Shatner says "Sabotage" :P

Tara

Um, any other Jews out here thinking "HAM Knish?!" Nah... Keep it "Hot Knish," please. Ham + Knish = is most def not kosher. ;)

Janet Potts

Regarding Janeway's "Their mistake!" comment, she's totally right. Saying you were under orders is no excuse. By the standards of the US military of today, you are no less guilty if you follow an illegal order. Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice makes it a crime to disobey a LAWFUL military order or regulation. Not just ANY order. The UCMJ actually protects the military person in this situation as he/she has a moral and legal obligation to the Constitution and not to obey unlawful orders and the people who issue them.

Christopher Collins

I prefer the action figures as post credits over the photos.

Liz Lesperance

I really got a laugh when I noticed Garrett's caricature on the Patreon page has his arm held up waving similar to his action figure🤣

Stephanie Baker

during the action figures scene, 'im so jealous i dont need oxygen' resonated with me

Rachelle H

About B'elana's hair. Come on guys. Women change their hair all the time in real life. Some more than others. Also Janeway changes her hair a lot!!

ST Fan CB

I am from the south (Texas) and say it with a long "E". You guys should have dug out your old scripts a long time ago and have the relevant one on hand while doing the pod cast. That way you can answer a lot of your own questions about what was in the script or not and share any notes you may have made at the time. The files in sickbay were ENcrypted NOT DEcrypted. The Doctor needed the Equinox EMH to DEcrypt the files. Come on man. Ransom says that being at rock bottom made him do dirty deeds. However, his crew had just been welcomed, given food and dilithium from friendly natives. So he was not at rock bottom when he found the aliens and decided to experiment on them. Also, why didn't he just stay in orbit and fix his ship before moving on?
