The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch & recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang & Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Collective. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

In the spirit of the Halloween costume contest, you guys should have a dance contest of fans jamming out to your Delta Flyers theme music. I know it gets me moving every time I hear it. It seem when the show needs a shot in the arm or a jump the shark the go to villain is the Borg? Gets old after a while.

TPed? I think in the UK we would say something along the lines of "They Andrex puppied" it. Much cuter. You can YouTube it.

SnazzyO

Agree with the Delta Flyer review comments. I think the production schedule combined with a bit of out of character writing took points off the episode. OTOH, Icheb and Mizrati(sp?) were awesomesauce. Finally, I think the doctor was TOTALLY manipulating Janeway by having her hold the baby. And she didn’t fall for it. Don’t get me wrong, she loved the baby, but she was not to be deterred.

MG

Harry didn't know about TP because he uses the three sea shells.

Dee McGee

An even bigger plot hole is the Borg baby featured on the Next Gen episode "Q-Who" conflicts with the Voyager premise that "Borg don't reproduce in this way" also brought up in the episode Drone.

Joy Nishida

It was a satisfying connection to this episode when in a later episode you find out more about the disease that killed all the adult drones.

Liam C

Hope you're feeling better or will be better soon Garrett!

Slayrogen101

There is a throw away line about finding a home for the baby in an upcoming ep. Where they keep it in the meantime though….the Voyager nursery??! Lol

Slayrogen101

Ugh watching this ep again it’s even more heartbreaking thinking how Icheb story ends on Star Trek Picard!! 😭😭😭😭

Andrew Murray

"thank you for calling the borg hotline 1. you will be assimilated. 2. resistance is futile. 3. Refer back to 1.".

Andrew Murray

borg humidicrib? That's what humans use for instance, with premature babies?

Andrew Murray

Even if they didn't have extra regeneration chambers in the cargo bay, they could have acquired a few from the borg cube the children had been on.

Andrew Murray

my take on the borg origin was "V'ger" otherwise known as VOYAGER 6 😉 but yeah, ST: The Motion Picture idea is probably not the actual "truth" although technically it does feature assimilation of sorts, both of Decker and Ilya.

Matt

Pacific Blue was a pretty cool show. The cops mostly used bikes if I remember correctly.

Andrew Murray

Tuvok says the children's behaviour is "typical of any adolescent of any species. Somehow I can't believe Tuvok himself was "impetutous and "rebellious".

Karen Chuplis

Interesting. I just didn’t see the inconsistencies you saw Robbie.

Karen Chuplis

We hear about the Borg baby later. He’s still there right now though you wouldn’t know it.

Lisa Minnesma

58:18 whenever there's lack of visible concern from B'Elanna, just blame the writers! lol

Janet Potts

Robbie's comment about using profanity & his mother's reaction reminded me of a story my dad told about himself and his sister. My grandfather was killed when my dad was around 3 so my dad was raised by his mom and older sister. He said his sister was more like a second mother to him. They never fought except for one time when my dad hit her. She didn't say anything. There was just a tear rolling down her face as she turned around and walked away. He felt so bad, he never fought with her again.

Stephanie

I always thought a fun episode would be one that took place some time after the one where the Dr was teaching 7 to date, where B'Elanna and 7 ended up at a Vegas like space station and 7 decided to get a little wild and B'Elanna had to real her in. I think almost all women when they are young have that one friend who was maybe a little over protected as a teen and then once out on their own goes crazy.

Se7enofNein

Always frustrated with the missing Borg baby plothole. To find that Robbie and Garrett don't even know is almost as frustrating as it is comforting. I don't understand how nobody is like 'There was a baby. Where is it?' Come on man. Come on.

Patrick E

Enjoyed the discussion but am not sure I agree with the questions on how the characters behaved Tom doesn't like being controlled or being out of control, look at how he behaved in Year From Hell for example, so I don't know his reactions were that out of line, plus he was very worried about Harry As to Tuvok, he is chief of security and Mr. Logic, so it would to me make sense that he would feel obligated by duty to advise of all options available to the crew, including the bioweapon. He would know that Janeway would act responsibly but he would also feel it logical to present all options. Just a couple thoughts

Chantelle Bowles

I would agree! And I think I saw something one time that said, when it comes to “deaths” Janeway had the most. Well, I mean Coda alone had 3!

Vikki Williams

In terms of pronunciation ‘futile’ is pronounced fuy-tile by the vast majority of those of us in the UK. I always believed futill (without pronouncing the ‘e’) was the American English pronunciation in the same way as ‘Dah-ta’ (US English) rather than ‘Day-ta’ (UK English) for the word ‘data’?

Elizabeth Flath

On kid restrictions, Scarlet Pomers mentioned a couple years ago on the Women in Trek podcast that she was only allowed to use certain prosthetic makeup, her horns were gelatin.

Heather Irwin

"Borg recharging station" makes me laugh every time :D
