The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch & recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang & Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Live Fast and Prosper. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

The fake turtle neck is called a dickey. Cant even make that up.

Ms Nike Morgan

There were 2 life signs on the Delta Flyer because there were 2 people on her: Tom & the lady who impersonated Janeway. The other was the Doctor. It wasn't a mistake.

SnazzyO

My thought was Tom is sooo pissed at being taken that he handles it.

SnazzyO

I agree with Garrett: Mobar FTW. I’m pissed that Tom and Neelix got thrown under the bus by such an obvious scam. Couldn’t they have been a little more sophisticated? But they at least showed it was a plot point to get back their edge.

J

I think Imposter Tuvok really wanted to be Tuvok in RL and that's why he kept up the performance. Has the actor ever been interviewed about the role?

Dee McGee

Robbie: Why does everyone always think Tom is the trouble maker? Me: You turned Maggie into a cow! Tom: That'll never happen again I swear.

Tashicat

My fav part of this ep is ImposterTuvok. His dedication to his craft for how deeply he gets into it is awesome and then when he comes face to face with Tuvok, he looks mesmerized lmao <3

Tashicat

It always bugs me tho, how much gambling is accepted on the ship after Chakotay snapped off on Tom for running a scientific betting pool in Season 1

Andrew Murray

Lutan's "Your security officer is a woman?" and "Your captain is a woman?" is right up there with the Ferengi comment about female crew members of Enterprise-D wearing clothes (very alien to Ferengi, granted). ("The Last Outpost" I think the ep was or "The Last Empire" (?) )

Andrew Murray

what would nuns or monks want with a database.... or "What would GOD want with a spaceship?" (good question, Kirk).

Andrew Murray

what did the imposters think, that Janeway was going to arrest them and stick them in Voyager's brig for 70 years?

Andrew Murray

In the words of Princess Leia (paraphrased): "They let her go. It's the only explanation for the ease of her escape. They only had one security guard. They could have easily posted 15".

Andrew Murray

I'd choose Nic Locarno to impersonate Tom Paris....

Andrew Murray

talking about holodeck security protocols for protecting programs, everyone broke into the Marquis mutiny episode (involving Seska, who also broke into it and modified its parameters) thinking it was a "game" when it was a serious training scenario for junior security officers. But it was obvioulsy not well protected (with pass-codes and what-have-you) since Torres found it when doing a routine database clean-up.

Irene Artho

Btw: Lebe lang und in Frieden (the German version of live long and prosper) literally translates to "live long and in peace". :)

Angela

Nah, the biggest plot hole in this episode is a canon-confirmed claustrophobic Tom Paris spending all that that time in a coffin-sized biobed waiting for Faux Janeway to locate her co-conspirators before coming out of it.

Christopher Collins

This is one of my favorite comedy episodes of Voyager. I also love the idea of The Doctor getting conned and then the crew doing it to others.

Kris Hansen

Francis Guinan! He's an ensemble member of Steppenwolf Theatre, where I am a season subscriber! So fun to see him on camera in addition to being onstage.

Christinaof9

I always felt like this episode had the biggest missing scene of seeing the scammers interact with the crew and the people they impersonated, and resolving exactly what happened to them. So much fun could have been done with that.
