The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch & recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang & Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is The Haunting of Deck Twelve. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

The Haunting of Deck Twelve:
Neelix tells the ship's children a ghost story, about an electromagnetic life force that holds Voyager hostage while trying to make contact with Janeway.

This is in my top 10 favorite Voyager episodes

Andrew Murray

The ship's children.. Mezoti, Icheb, Azan, Rebi, (but no Naomi??) make a captive audience for Neelix telling ghost stories.

Andrew Murray

Neelix's narration for Voyager could start by quoting Dickens; "It was the best of times....it was the worst of times". (Kind of sums up Voyager's predicament).

Andrew Murray

doesn't voyager have auto-darkening windows? I think modern airliners have that now instead of the traditional pull-down blinds.

Andrew Murray

wouldn't the lamp or stove be running on something more "futuristic" than propane - like plasma. I wouldn't think Deuterium is a renewable resource since it's mined like coal and processed like oil into useable fuel.

Andrew Murray

Neelix's line should be "Mr Vulcan, this is no time to quote me "the needs of the many outweigh......." that Mr Spock is so fond of saying".

Andrew Murray

Next Episode "The haunting of Sick Bay" Tom Paris's spirit possesses the EMH and causes havoc on Voyager.

Andrew Murray

well...you can talk to your phone or computer - cortana, SIRI, Google etc but I don't know that you would carry on a meaningful conversation and expect those technologies to really understand it - after all they are more like Voyager's computer, programmed with pre-set responses to pre-given voice commands or queries.

Andrew Murray

how dark is "total dark" when it comes to a TV/Film set. Surely not completely dark, as you need the camera to pick up the action in the only way it can - through its aperture, capturing light on film or tape or hard drive or solid-state storage or whatever.

Andrew Murray

nice try on the Aussie accent - one step up from Meryl Streep :) and a thousand percent better than the "aussies" (term used mildly) in the Simpsons episode where they visit Australia.

sab ewell

I love Crossing Jordan and Robbie has said in the past that Roxann was there on set shadowing because she came on as a director there and then a producer.

Tashicat

I agree that the story is real based on the bridge scene but I also believe Mazoti n Naomi about Neelix exaggerating BECAUSE if the whole crew took escape pods, the kids wouldve been in one and know more of whats happening And clearly it was a current story and not one from before the kids came on board BECAUSE the alien was still on board during the story being told n didnt leave till afterwards

bakura

I get the feeling this episode will be haunting Robbie for a while.

Sarah Allen

I'm with Janeway. I talk to my car (encouragement usually). And to the industrial treatment plant I run at work. Bet Torres talks to the warp core. :op

Ian Garcia

I may be wrong but I believe they were in nelixs quarters in the episode dragons teeth. During the scene when he was asking about the word vodwar

David Turner

I've gotta see that t shirt with but I'm not dead yet with Paris badly injured😂 Macabre but funny.

Mike Joyce

Best Voyager cold open ever 🔥

Mike Joyce

We all know Harry loves a hot mess

Heather Choe

at 19:30, Harry is not eating, but sitting at a table with a woman who is wearing a red command uniform. He's holding a Padddddd, she is eating.

Craig Drebit

What happened to the action figures?! LOL

ST Fan CB

Still do not like watching people chew gum while talking. The "I'm not dead yet" bit getting quite repetitive and old after the 100th time. Come on man, clearly the story was real. There was a whole opening and closing scene dedicated to showing the viewer that the story was real. Aspects of it may have been true and obviously he embellished other details but the overall story was true. A space born life form that lived in the nebula got in the ship and wanted back out so they put it on deck 12 and then it left after they found another nebula for it to live in. Bring back the action figures.

Amber Holguin

Omg Garrett got the giggles this episode and it was infectious I was laughing at work listening to this. This is one of my favorite podcast and this episode is definitely in my top 20.

Eddie Ordaz

Garrett had me cracking up! He couldn't hide the laughter lol!!!! I think I am going to watch this again.

David H Dykema

The borg children really grew on me. At first I was like oh man child actors 🙄 but they knocked it out of the park! They were great, and I really ended up caring about them alot

Rach V

Step away from the accents. Please. 😆

millymilsner

When Neelix mentioned gaseous anomalies I chuckled knowing that wouldn’t get past Robbie. His face in the reaction video was hilarious. I liked Rebecca’s interpretation too. I can’t help but smile when Garrett gets the giggles. So fun.

Jen V

I was wondering the same thing! She should've been there!

Jen V

"You hear" in Klingon sounds like "bitcoin!"

SnazzyO

Neelix said the anomaly came on board before the kids. So when they arrived, it was living on Deck 12.

SnazzyO

Delightful episode. Full crew involved (Doctor a bit less but recently featured). Loved the framing of Neelix telling a ‘ghost story’ around the campfires. I assume Naomi was with her Mom. He couldn’t have told that story with Naomi. These Borg kids had already seen far worse than Neelix’s little story. He truly is WONDERFUL with children. He tailors his engagement by what they need (‘does anyone want something to eat?’ Ha! Such a story teller and tease). Nit rebuttal: The Doctor has a hypospray that he clearly provided Paris a painkiller with. Hence he could stumble out without screaming. And he could use the Engineering kit to keep himself functional but without pain. Further, I bet HE piloted the Delta Flyer and was already healed by the time he returned. Again, a delightful episode using the crew’s personalities to best advantage.

Dee McGee

I love how Robbie talks about his passion for directing and knowing early on that's what he wanted to do.

MG

Janeway didn't send Chakotay off on the escape pod and close the door, the entity closed it before she could get on, trapping her on board.

N+D

RDM wonders what happens when Voyager powers down its engine; well, Isaac Newton knows the answer! (it'll keep on moving unless acted on by some other force).
