Will interviews Basil Zacharia Rodriguez, an activist and student at Columbia University involved with Columbia Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) about the ongoing demonstrations taking place there. They discuss the goals of the protests, the media response, and the University’s economic interests in both Palestinian occupation and displacing New Yorkers in Harlem.

I will say, it's kinda rude for Amber to say that the politics of these students will go back to normal. After hearing the girls say that her aunt was killed, It seems some of the Muslim students really are genuinely inspiring their friends to stand up alongside them. I think her analysis on these kinds of movements is clouded by her dislike of the "New Left" of the 1960s. I remember on the Trial of the Chicago 7 episode, she said there were only cultural accomplishments in the 60s, which is ridiculous. Most times she provides great material analysis, but in instances like this she shows the limitations of that kind of thinking (reducing people's views on all issues completely down to their class position)

A lot (most) of the people that end up in college were primed to value / have faith in those institutions from birth; that's being socialized into a middle-class household. The opportunism of the US left in the last 10 years has not gone well. We have been jumping from movement to movement with less success each time. From Bernie to BLM, to now Palestine. Maybe we need to sit on our fat asses and shut up for a while. Yes support Palestine but as a means to stop the massacre but not opportunistically think or idealize the Palestinian struggle as a boarder left struggle. Hamas is very conservative, Islamic party and we need to be clear about that. They don't share our politics. Lets be for real, these Colombia students are the Blinkens of the future. They will end up in the State department, NGOs or wall street. They will conform to those institutions and not change it from within. Just look at how AOC ended up being just another democrat and holding the party line on the current issue when just a few years ago being the darling of Jacobin. We have to reflect a little and not just react.
