Drop Site’s Ryan & Jeremy join us for an update on Israel’s war on Gaza. We discuss yesterday’s attack on Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington D.C. and its potential ramifications, Trump’s recent trip to the Gulf and potential shifts in U.S. relations in the region, and the brutal escalations of violence in Gaza over the recent weeks. Ryan and Jeremy also relate some of the stories of the many talented and courageous Palestinian journalists they’ve worked with through the conflict, and how the war has laid bare many of the failings of domestic media.

Omgggg. I suggested this happen to Ryan angelic 2 weeks ago. I bet Ryan took my advice and reached out to the boys!

ploob

Murder is GAY

Max Ferguson

I love all the work Jeremy has done ❤️❤️❤️

Kyle Barry

Yaron Lshinskiy more like Hardon Shlongsky

Cody Ross Rex

I just feel like the chapo haters should start posting rn about how distant our boys have been about these issues

Travis

Felix begins speaking at 4 minutes and 7 seconds

swervegriffin

Amazing that Jeremy thinks the resistance is against solidarity

swervegriffin

Looking forward to hamas and pflp’s statements on the embassy shooting not being a full condemnation as Jeremy would have it

Kyle Palmer

I pray for the complete and furious destruction of the state of Israel. May its dismantling be so complete that people even forget it ever existed.

Danny

Why is felix brandonized in this ep

justdave

Obviously it means Hassan is an op. (Not a joke.)

swervegriffin

Are you the Joseph “Man accused of holding two people at gunpoint on nature trail arraigned on felony charges” Hofer or another one

justdave

Whatever the motivation; pretty useless and pointless waste of life that actually did the opposite of what you say you wanted.

triplevalaska

You guys are really trying to say this is fine? Want to talk about a 80 to 20 issue, you guys are on the wrong side

Fart Twain

The fucking dude yelling “from hamas” after the shooter said “free free Palestine” is truly insane

K H

Missed one for sure.

Pancy Nelosi

Grim and Scahill on the same ep!!! Hell yeah! Love those dudes. 🙏

K H

Dumb take. Look at basically every comment. You dipshits were saying the same about the United ceo. It shifted the dialog left.

Ligma

1:19:00 yes these American fascist "experts" have been driving me up the wall. The Yale professor who moved to Toronto has been making the rounds on Canadian media fear mongering about Trumps fascism yet has admitted that he's a liberal Zionist lmfao. He also on the Atlantic Council and has said that Canada and Ukraine are strong democracies resisting against Russian authoritarianism. Hahah! He's such a fucking joke. I guess Canada can take advantage of American brain drain by absorbing their mediocrity

K H

But assassination is based

Zach Armstrong

what are two more bodies alongside the hundreds of thousands of dead the Zionists have already made? What makes the embassy shooting any worse?

Chapo Bath House

What's your over/under on when they outlaw communism? I'm guessing that by 2030 it will be the only prosecuted hate crime besides criticism of Israel

Robcat

nobody’s saying it’s “fine” but that, like with luigi, it’s a morally legible and humanly understandable action. and once again, like with luigi, i think ultimately the split will be a bit more on the narrow side of 80-20 than most are comfortable with.

Robcat

inshallah we will all be soon

triplevalaska

Na the spilt with lugi was more like 40 to 60 lugi 40, you guys have confidence yourself everyone has converted to Islam, im just saying ask a co worker or aunt what she thinks about this?

Ligma

Wouldn't doubt it if they did just for funsies. Canada has been a strong proponent of the double genocide theory for decades, so I wouldn't be surprised if they designated communists as anti-ukrainian terrorists. (Which would be funny since we have 3 communist parties that have no motion, and are also insane). Tbh I'm more worried about the inevitable crackdown on indigenous and environmental activists that's coming.

Lauren Heinze

Thought that part was sooo condescending omg

Oliver Clozov

i think like luigi this is just what happens when no amount of social movement pressure or popular opinion is enough to change american policy. those who make peaceful change uncrustable make violent change incredible. or however that quote goes.

justdave

I do agree. Valid targets

justdave

Tough talk from somebody not on a watch-list

Reed

Free Luigi and free the guy who murked 2 Israeli embassy officials

Joanna Jane

Hey can you please make this publicly available???

HuffingGasInTheShed

My most conservative co-worker is a church going marine and “do you support hamas?” guy. He is also a Free Luigi guy

justdave

You know what fuk you. Stop cheering it on and do it yourself you goddamn coward

OC_da_OG

I want for the UN to send in the troops to put them down like rabid dogs

justdave

Hot take. Luigi is a stupid rich kid jerk off who accomplished nothing and this guy just gave the monsters their rallying cry

Oliver Clozov

i think, respectfully, you can't expect every single person to conduct themselves like they're the chairman of the party setting the strategy everyone else needs to defend or emulate. read about marinus van der lubbe, if you read his personal biography you can't come to any other conclusion than that he was a genuine hero of the working class. insurrectionary terrorism isn't a good strategy, but it's not like the nazis weren't going to suspend the constitution if the reichstag fire wasn't set. they literally campaigned on it. those political conditions will make some people do crazy shit.

Joseph

Yeah that take sucks. I don’t really think they needed Luigi to do all this stuff they were going to do anyway.

Last Years Man

The nature of stochastic violence is that it is unpredictable. As is said so eloquently in this episode, the ones who are "activating" these violent actors are the ones who close off political outlets. When people lose hope in the process, they resort to other means. That doesn't mean it 's right, but it is a natural outcome.

justdave

Again you all actually agree. You are not laying barbed wire and planting landmines. Which is what I want

Last Years Man

Why does there have to be a "side." Nothing about what this idiot did changes any of the facts on the ground. The idea that we should stop talking about a genocide because of it or that people bear collective responsibility is exactly what got us to this point.

justdave

There's a better tempo to a machine gun than a bitch made glock

Last Years Man

Also, the impact this has on public opinion is the LEAST relevant thing to be concerned about right now.

Shane-A112

I'm of the belief on many issue now that peaceful means have been completely exhausted. that shouldn't make anyone happy, but it's where we are.

justdave

I just can't handle the cavalier smugness. A culture of fukn jackals

Shane-A112

if your basis of belief/action is what's popular why are you here and not at DNC fundraisers?

Waffle Poet

Please unlock this episode for the masses. This was an incredible episode, and everyone needs to hear Mr. Scahill and Mr. Grim. Edit: Nevermind, seems to be unlocked. What an incredible interview, Mr. Chapo.

Michael S. Judge

Those 90+ aid trucks have NOT been admitted into Gaza. They were told they would be let in, and then they got stopped at the border and have been sitting there ever since. The entire point was to get people saying "Ah, progress, 90 aid trucks, don't you know," and not a fucking speck of that "aid" has gotten into Gaza. As of this morning, it's $800 for a bag of flour in Gaza, and flour is all they've got.

C. Ries

Frankly I think most of the country supports killing lanyarded yuppie professionals who work in DC before you even add anything else to that.

ploob

They were about to be engaged 😭

ploob

Let's all get crushed by the state YAY!

RemixedOtaku

They're saying that this is what happens when you see live baby murder and feel helpless to stop it. How can you blame him for his actions would you let Nazi just openly roam around you?

RemixedOtaku

Who is he to speak for the Palestinians? In my opinion the only people that can pass judgement on him are the people of Gaza.

RemixedOtaku

You act like they aren't doing that already.....

T

Make a slasher movie or Jurassic Park movie where these are the only victims

Waffle Poet

You should fedpost somewhere else, Dave. We get it, you’re waging a one man guerrilla war, but take it somewhere else.

Jake Estes

these 2 are so important thank you for having them on

Tim O'

Here to tell us about the situation in Palestine, a man whose name is literally Grim

Sam Bondurant

Great ep. I implore you guys to unlock this one so we can share it.

Doug Cartel

The Izzies have spent the last century killing 20 arabs for every Izzy killed. Between that and all the silly ass math they do to make October 7 equivalent to 98.24 9/11s per square mile or whatever, they really seem like the worst mathematicians ever produced on that side of the Mediterranean.

justdave

Mr grim Is faker than his toupee

Doug Cartel

That take about Syria as the rubric of chaos kind of points to something larger I think - stirring up chaos to keep people subservient to the US doubles as propaganda. The skinheads will point to anywhere on the map and go 'see? Gotta stick to your own people' which is pretty much just how the European nation-state has functioned for the last 3 or 4 centuries anyways - but it is also why war with Russia and China is inevitable, because they are anathema to this worldview. A single government running a society of 120 ethnicites in Russia? 60+ in china under one government? It's conceptually intolerable, never mind the threat they pose to American hegemony.

Comrade Trash Panda

Will mentioned the permanence and global application of the situation in Gaza and I immediately thought of the following Lukacs quote: "Only the consciousness of the proletariat can point to the way that leads out of the impasse of capitalism. As long as this consciousness is lacking, the crisis remains permanent, it goes back to its starting-point, repeats the cycle until after infinite sufferings and terrible detours the school of history completes the education of the proletariat and confers upon it the leadership of mankind. But the proletariat is not given any choice. As Marx says, it must become a class not only “as against capital” but also “for itself”; that is to say, the class struggle must be raised from the level of economic necessity to the level of conscious aim and effective class consciousness. The pacifists and humanitarians of the class struggle whose efforts tend whether they will or no to retard this lengthy, painful and crisis-ridden process would be horrified if they could but see what sufferings they inflict on the proletariat by extending this course of education. But the proletariat cannot abdicate its mission. The only question at issue is how much it has to suffer before it achieves ideological maturity, before it acquires a true understanding of its class situation and a true class consciousness."

justdave

Shifted the dialog. What a dumbshit thing to say

Rory

Look at Myanmar, the CIA sent over Taliban (could be a different group) to attack Buddhist temples and stir up as much ethnic and religious conflict as possible. In turn they got a civil war that stopped yet another massive belt and road infrastructure project

Ligma

Probably also why western propagandists are so quick to call "genocide" to every conflict these countries deal with (Uyghurs, Chechnya, Afrikaaners, Ukraine)

ploob

You're dumb

Alex Thorne

Maybe now we’ll get some gun control since israelis are getting shot instead of just americans and children

Alex Weber

Yesterday I saw a video of a man walking through rubble with a severed leg of a child looking for the remaining pieces of what I can guess was his son. I close my eyes at night and it’s in my dreams I’ll never ever begrudge a person for resisting against that, domestically or abroad.

Stephen Buhler

Please put this up on the main feed. This conversation is soooo important.

Schaeffer Mallory

If the next phase in west is literally criminalizing protest and support for Palestine, then so be it. It'll be fucked up and terrifying, but it will ultimately weaken any remaining support for Israel

Jordan

Made acquaintance last year with a couple of guys who were white collar guys while snowboarding….one was like a landlord and the other a financial advisor. They were foaming at the mouth talking about the numbers in their account blaming homeless fent users for the failure of us imperium. I interjected at one point—something like… the island of Manhattan could just get mandatory new jobs (yes we get ur town house) im sorry , they’re gonna clean the street , they’re gonna pick strawberries. got initial push back, but eventually finance guy was like low key he’s right (but still had to say there is like a 1% chance we could protect super investors to save the economy, but actually most finance guys r disposable)

Bert

Hey fellas please unlock this one 😘

sarah

One of the best episodes ever. Thank y’all.

JDF

🐐

Johan Stefonski

Yes, he would let Nazi's openly roam around him.

Alex “WORLDWIDE” Kellar

Speaking to what the guest said about what people in Palestine do and don’t want people outside of Palestine to do regarding violence and stuff: The other week I was wearing a Free Palestine shirt at work and a Palestinian thanked me and told me he liked it and we talked a bit. At a certain point I started ranting about what a crime Israel is and was wondering aloud where all the Israelis go when it doesn’t exist anymore and he kinda stopped me and was like “I don’t care if Israel does or doesn’t exist, I just want the killing to stop and people to live” which sort of stopped me in my tracks and wrinkled my brain a bit. Like, the guy was talking about how he can’t even look at his phone anymore because it’s just dead bodies, and meanwhile my comfortable American ass could only envision more blood and displacement and recrimination. I dunno, it’s just kinda stuck with me (though I’m not gonna poo-poo the event in DC —if it wasn’t an op, who knows)

Mark Schneider

This is one of the best and most thorough (both factually and morally) Chapo eps in quite awhile. I used to disdain Ryan Grim as a ShitLib, but circumstances have clearly radicalized him to the point that he now truly belongs on a Dirtbag Left podcast. If they are baselessly going after someone as moderate and careful as Hasan Piker we should all be cautious, but we shouldn't capitulate and accept the genocide. Bravo, Will & Felix.

Timothy Buttons

Will's talk about this "never ending" was very instructive, helped me understand some thoughts I haven't really been able to put words to.

Gabe Juniper

Is this about Tim Snyder or Jason Stanley?

Evan Pitkin

Lending my voice to the chorus and saying this one should be unlocked if it isn't already available.

Ligma

Yeah, that Jason Stanley dweeb

Corey Reynolds

Why doesn’t Quentin tarintino get more shit for being a Zionist? Plus, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was mid at best.

etienne

I always think of Will's point about anti-abortion activists and flip it around: if you genuinley think Israel is carrying an ethnic cleansing operation on a level comparable with the Nazis, then it's amoral to *not* be out there shooting members of the Israeli state. You'd have to reverse engineer a moral case to leave them alone

Chapo Bath House

Moral justification is a moot point. It's cause and effect at this point. I don't think this will help Palestinians, and I'm not glad those people are dead, but individuals, even with the majority opinion, have no means to enact actual change. Legal protest hasn't helped, civil disobedience hasn't helped, working within the political system hasn't helped, fundraising for aid groups hasn't helped; I don't support what he did but my support isn't relevant. At least he tried something new.

John Lima

this is really great, reiterating the request to unlock to get it out there in as wide a way as possible

Michael

If I had to bet on what is most likely to stop Israel I would go with the military basically falling apart as more people refuse to show up to serve. I think that’s more likely then Trump’s senile ass pulling the plug.

Mojtaba HUSAYNI Khamenei

Israel would collapse without US support. The people working at this embassy are making sure the gas chambers are running smoothly. It's not more complicated than that. Western liberalism says these people are civilians but the orphans in Gaza who pick up a gun and fight back are combatants. No.

Evan O'Reilly

He has never been a shitlib, but Ryan Grim has always been a real ass journalist and I think under Biden he still tried to maintain access as a member of the WH press corps with The Intercept. He has more flexibility now with Drop Site.

Don Draper

Yeah but that won’t help the people who are punished even though they flip the script and pretend to have been pro Palestine all along in the coming decades. There are still political prisoners from the civil rights movement rotting away in prison.

Devin

Going to reiterate what many others have said: would greatly appreciate if y'all unlocked this episode for public reach. Important conversation for others to hear

Jingle Jangler

I didn't realise Jeremy made dirty wars, such a good documentary

Chapo Bath House

I still think they got the Houthi deal bc someone showed Trump the biggest guy in Yemen and he was impressed

Riley Stratton

Fucking Hell world man, Free Palestine.

C. Andrew

Hot Take. Your dad's asshole is really blown out and it's not even enjoyable to fuck him anymore.

Mattc83

Absolutely blown away by this episode. Thank you for this.

Michael

“But have you personally been to Gaza?” Douglas Murray’s response to this episode.

etienne

I call it the Houthi doctrine

John

Please unlock this so it’s shareable, great ep

delle_chiaie

khabib more likely to turn this thing around than the entire cohort of feckless petro monarchs

Peanut Horse

More and more I believe in 5 years time we’ll be talking about how Israel is in direct war with Syria and Iran to fight against the “jihadist hordes” of the world, genuinely think we’ll be dragged into deploying U.S. troops in that, furthering our suicide pact with Israel.

John Lima

The book is excellent as well

K H

Yea, engage in a strongly worded letter writing campaign. It's impossible to pull people left. Can't be done. Trump didn't pull anyone right by giving losers the permission they needed to be pieces of shit. Apologize and condemn harder. They will finally spare you.

K H

Jeremy knows Gaza is losing right? Like if there were attacks on US weapons facilities that would probably be greatly beneficial to them right? A riot isn't caused by 1000 people coming out to riot, it's caused by 10 people breaking windows that meet the threshold to influence 100 people, that meet the threshold to influence 200 people, until it's weird if you don't break a window. Leftists are so quick to condemn or look down on violence, as though the opposite strategy is working. Then they see where it works and laude the revolutionaries. This is how it goes. This is how it works. Palestinians can be killed because it is normal to kill them.

K H

That's cool. Unfortunately the practical reality is that people can't just live with nazis. That's a great sentiment to have, like I don't want to argue I just want everyone to get paid fairly and have dignity. Unfortunately there are competing interests.

K H

It doesn't matter. We all have to reckon with being forgotten and rotting. You plant the tree.

K H

That was my immediate thought. Same for suppressors.

Man2quilla

Before the final solution, the nazis tried to encourage and then force jews to leave the country. My grandmother was deported from Germany well before the Wannsee Conference and the advent of the "final" solution. We're seeing both phases happen in parallel in Gaza. Horrifying.

I.P. Freely

100%. Not on some Ian Carroll shit, our politicians are Israelifying American politics, society and life. At some point resistance within the US also becomes self-preservation of what little good persists of America.

K H

It 100% shifted the dialog. People went from medicare is communism to, actually this health insurance system is evil and I'm glad one of its vanguards is dead. Just as Trump and other extremist actors give weaklings the permission needed to shift right, people like this guy and Luigi give people permission to move left. A centrist to genocide and not genocide is a rightward shift. A shift between dying because you don't have enough money and living slightly longer then dying in debt is a rightward shift. The shift from "kill every ceo of a major health insurance company" to "lets have a more equitable system" is a left shift. A revolutionary doesn't come about because they're tougher, or smarter, or more cunning, or more intelligent, or stronger. They are more sensitive. Because they are more sensitive they act first and are the defacto leader of those that come after them if they survive. Do you really think god only sent a single messiah? What have your condemnations brought you? What has ruthlessnes gained your adversary?

Salt M. Bank

I had a similar experience at a march in 2021. Old Palestinian guy I marched next to for awhile said “all many of us want is for the US to stop sending Israel money and weapons.”

Sarah Stinard-Kiel

Will put something I’ve been feeling into words - there is something evil being born into this world out of our complacency. So heartbreaking

Frank

PLEASE UNLOCK BOYOS, THE FREE PIGGIES NEED TO HEAR THIS.

simon

It's horrible but yeah the dehumanization of Palestinians has been going on for decades now. Just like the antisemitism in Germany started in the early 1930's (obv antisemitism was around way before I mean 'final solution' anti-semitism) and the Holocaust only began in like 1942. My grandfather's family were sold out trying to get to the UK and my grandmother held a student strike when all Jews where banned from the gymnasium she attended. Didn't accomplish anything obviously, and I really don't know what to do except check that the hummus I buy is not from Israel.

Aaron Friedland

It’s a fun little movie but it definitely suffers from being overly praised for a movie that’s essentially just vibes for two hours

Aaron Friedland

Israel’s killing of a Palestinian finance minister and the other examples of mass political civilian killings by Israel is a very effective way to contextualize how the reactionary violence we saw in DC that night is plainly, inevitable. How can you feel remorse when you know this could have been prevented, but the people slain were actively working not to do that?

T33ny

Ive been saying this over and over again and its amazing how ppl still treat individual events like this as seperate

T33ny

Nonviolence was a program by neoliberal, Gene Sharp and he partnered with the'cia at harvard' to spread it to countries with revolutionary movements. Its completely embedded on the social institutions of america

Ant koz

Stand with Israel people! I am blown away by all these hateful comments, apparently you people are fine with spewing antisemitism openly, things like “Palestinians have a right to live” or “we shouldn’t starve millions of children” do you even hear yourselves? Have y’all for even one second considered the real victims? Jewish students on Ivy League campuses? You can be as antisemitic as you want, but we Zionists know what it takes to create a real great society, wink wink… Every. Single. One of them. Even the children. Even the babies. Especially the babies. Terrorist babies! Stand with Israel, Zionists of the world unite!!

The Pissler

Felix calling in from the bottom of Lake Baikal

K H

Awful. You didn't mention Oct 7th or kHamaS even once

Ant koz

lol? Antisemitism alarm!! Antisemitism alarm!! Bro are you serious? You might as well have made fun of my nose! Do you people understand the oppression my family has faced since October 7? My aunt used to attend the hippest mimosa bars in Manhattan for brunch every Saturday AND Sunday! Now she lives in such fear that her and her friends have to grubhub thousands of dollars in champagne and creative breakfast ensembles to their luxury upper west side apartments overlooking the park! Can you live with yourself knowing that your hate causes this kind of oppression and suffering? Yeah, didn’t think so!

Ant koz

Antisemitism alarm antisemitism alarm!! You are obviously a Hamas paid bot. Disgusting

K H

Exactly. We are waging our battle against humus and wondering why it has not saved children from extermination. It hit so fast. There is so much of a life to be put in order before we are ready to part with it. To the extent this guy is ineffectual is only the extent to which we are unwilling to follow. A lot must be abandoned, and much will be taken.

Alex “WORLDWIDE” Kellar

Like, I’m just curious if you read what I said or just had some sort of mental event in the vicinity of it

Jaime Christley

Felix very obviously under the weather - feel better king!

Casualmort

Please, please, please invite Kneecap on your show.

Jaime Christley

One of the more salient points I learned when I finally watched SHOAH was about how the genocide against the Jews had upwards of a thousand years of precedent, in no small part thanks to the Catholic Church. Forced relocation, ghetto-ization, denial of fundamental rights (ex. owning a business), being made to wear special markers -- none of these were Nazi innovations. Not by a long shot. The industrial-scale process of extermination (thank you IBM punch cards, thank you Allan Dulles, thank you Brown Brothers Harriman) on the other hand.... This might be apocryphal but I think I read somewhere that the phrase "Final Solution" was a grim reply to the older phrase "the Jewish question".

Tristan Abbott

Would you guys consider unlocking this one?

fisher ilijasic

one of y’all’s best episodes of all time

Craig

Not gonna lie; you had me in the first half lmao

justdave

Christ you are smug. Why haven't you died for a cause yet?

Ant koz

I’ve posted similar shit to comments on Instagram before… there are plenty of unironic likes from various bloodthirsty Zionists who never for a second realize it’s a joke…

WizLizGiz

Achille Mbembe, Necropolitics. It’s a good sketch of the future that Will is saying he fears and that it does seem is coming into the world. Mbembe used Gaza as a major lens to frame his argument. Nasty times now and ahead

protob1

Ghost of Kiev strikes again

justdave

I think if you support this kind killing you should also support armed gunmen dragging random Americans out of bed and shooting them, because you have benefited from racial and religious apartheid in this country, no matter your skin color or background.

justdave

I think if you support this kind of killing you should also support armed gunmen dragging random Americans out of bed and shooting them, because you have benefited from racial and religious apartheid in this country, no matter your skin color or background.

etienne

real talk this whole "trump is probably gonna be better on Gaza, look, he just got a peace deal through" was one of the stupidest Chapo takes of recent memory but hey, live and learn

CS

Great book. A bit of a loose reading of Foucault, but fuck Foucault so who cares

Grant Spalding

This is embarrassing, just stop dude.

justdave

Embarrassing!? You fucking tool. I'm not afraid of embarrassment and never will be

Chapo Bath House

I think the more distance you have, the easier it is talk about the broader structures. Like, my relatives aren't dying; that's why I get to yell about it. I'm sure many Gazans would give anything to go back to their lives before October 7, even though these were objectively inhumane conditions. It's worth thinking about, but it doesn't work as a rubric to assess foreign protests. It's not an issue of perfect being the enemy of good, it's between doing nothing or doing the wrong thing while people die.

K H

I believe the assessment was he literally can't be worse. Which still isn't wrong. Worse for more Americans, yes.

K H

Cry about it.

K H

We should start posting like this actually. Would get the point across and jump some filters I bet.

Alex “WORLDWIDE” Kellar

Yeah, but I think it’s also a side effect of people seeing that this genocide is being inflicted by a group that was genocided last century and is now a bunch of frothing at the mouth inhuman psychos, ultimately less human now than their worst detractors 100 years ago would admit, so maybe there’s something to that? As I said before (or maybe didn’t and am saying now) I don’t really begrudge anyone individually lashing out in a focused way failing the better (organized) thing being on offer (which it isn’t). I’ll take a Luigi or Rodney Hinton Jr or Elias over a school shooting 10 out of 10 times

Tea for the Tillerman

Out of Sight actually has pretty good vibes for accidentally having to see on acid, J lo “muy caliente”, cool lighting, ving and George and Steve zahn good. Deniis farina might wig me out.

Karl Childers

tbh this evil was born immediately after ww2 when the us committed genocide in korea & fostered anticommunist death squads across the entire global south; what we're seeing now is this beast nourished by decades of blood feast not being born, but only emerging into the open without shroud or pretense

K U

With respect, Scahill and Grim are fools, and it seems like Hamas' leadership is under the same misapprehension as these guys. You are being conned. Trump isn't a "casino", his whims aren't going to randomly mean he does anything to stop the slaughter. You guys JUST got conned, giving up a valuable prisonder of war and receiving nothing, and you're still clinging to this belief that there are possibilities under Trump. All the possibilities are bad. Trump's ethnic cleansing plan is idiotic and not something he sincerely wants to pursue, but it gave Israel sort of the rhetorical scaffolding from America they needed to go with the most extreme version of the plan. This is why Bibi keeps bringing it up with every speech, it lends America's credibility to their insane plan. Trump won't redact it even if it hurts his business interests in the ME, because he's incapable of backing down on anything. Lastly, Trump will always sign off on the most extreme version of whatever Israel wants because he's surrounded by hawks, and ultimately he's transactional and will side with whoever will offer him more. For Israel, this is existential, and they will give him whatever they need to. That is not the case for the Gulf Arabs who make a show of being pro-Palestine, but honestly do not give a shit. It's all completely fucked. Trump's victory meant that this genocide would only get worse, not better. Why do you think Bibi's clique hated Biden so much and wanted a Trump win? It wasn't because Biden was holding them back, it was because the infinite possibilities being opened up by Trump works for Israel far more than it does for Hamas. Would Biden openly advocate for the total ethnic cleansing of Gaza? Would Biden have promised a ceasefire in exchange for a hostage release only to renege on it? These are the things that Israelis were so excited for.

Michael Rosen

Not gonna lie, I thought Felix was doing his Biden impression at first

K U

Jeremy is in regular communication with Hamas' leadership, so I think he has a solid basis for believing this kind of strategy isn't something they feel like is worth pursuing. I can tell you, for normal people, shooting a woman in the back as she tries to crawl to safety isn't something that inspires revolutionary fervor, but just something that makes the cause look demented, while also giving the government further pretext to crack down on it. I'm not going to pretend like this was the excuse the Trump admin was waiting for, or that the movement is "hurt", because as you said they're losing and the situation is already bleak, but I'm not going to applaud this like this is something that even potentially helps anyone. People still remember Aaron Bushnell's name, no one is going to want to think about this dude when he goes to trial.

Benna

Dude log off. You’re showing your ass all over the place

Budget Hireling

Is that really what you got out of what they said? Are you really that orange man bad deranged? They said that Trump is corrupt enough and doesn’t care about the blob designs for the Middle East, that it is making for interesting developments in diplomacy, maybe MAYBE a chance for some change. You wouldn’t even know about it with this level of detail without their reporting so why don’t you pump the brakes there, sweaty

Corey Reynolds

Damn dude. How many comments are you going to leave? Half the section is your comments

etienne

leaving for Canada is such a high-IQ move, like oh this Hitler guy is bad news, I don't think this is going to end well, I need to take myself and my op-ed writing operation to the next normal country: Austria

C. Ries

Wait how have black people or native Americans benefitted from racial and religious apartheid in America

K H

Ok. Was Brian whatever his name was a more noble death when he was shot in the back? Stop trying to imagine the hypothetical fence sitter. It is a pointless exercise. It is schumering. How does it look when the authoritarian state is authoritarian, and what does it ever matter? To grant it space in your mind is to already concede the limits of action according to those who literally never would act. Let Hamas condemn it if they feel that way.

Doom Hermit

The amount of comments reduced dramatically once I blocked that fed Dave. I recommend everyone else do the same.

K H

I immediately disagree. Trump would let that guy die. He likes people that don't get captured. Giving away the American removes a rationale for Trump to stay engaged in something unpopular and it makes him look good in his own eyes. He is bribable. I think it was the right move for them. Holding that guy gave them nothing, giving him over gained some ego points with Trump. The guy is otherwise just meat as are the others. Israel keeps killing them, they are not valuable at all, except as a lever on liberal zionists. If they were all released or killed tomorrow, nothing would change.

K H

If woke Grok comes back to do White genocide I know which side of the Butlerian Jihad I'll be on. Sorry guys.

K H

I think he's just weird and stupid. I have seen more waifus demanding I commit violence though. I don't need your permission bitch.

K H

Is this like "if you want medicare for all, send more to the IRS"? The reality is that their simple desire has a reality attached that almost certainly requires killing. Like native Americans probably just wanted to mostly be chill and have peace. Same for the Vietnamese people. People need to start accepting the requirements to reach their idealized world, and that the steps to reach it means they won't see it. The sooner that happens the sooner we can all understand we are going the opposite direction and make a real decision. As always, free speech is a myth, because you can point out problems, but if you suggest specific solutions you're a criminal. The killing will not stop by wanting it to, or it would have already.

justdave

Black people and native Americans owned slaves

Jonathan Nathan

Trump backs down from stuff all the time, what are you talking about

Jonathan Nathan

@Rohmer that's sort of correct. The more accurate way to say it is that "the Final Solution" was a shortened version of "the Final Solution to the Jewish question."

Jonathan Nathan

Ultrashitlib take. I met a Palestinian in a bar a couple months ago and he agreed with me that a one-state solution is the only moral answer. I bet other people have met other Palestinians who say other things.

Jonathan Nathan

Nope. The U.S. will invade Israel on behalf of Iran before it does gun control. Just give up on that one. That is pointless and not even remotely worth the fight.

Jonathan Nathan

Ethnic minorities in Russia and China have it *at least* as bad as they do in the U.S., and in Russia it's probably worse.

Ant koz

Seriously dude, if that’s what you took from what they said… listen again? Or develop media literacy first then listen again?

Jonathan Nathan

hey Dave no one in the world has ever loved you

etienne

they kept flirting with that idea from the election summer up until that time it was clear that israel didn't want to respect the ceasefire deal at all

etienne

it was part of this whole like idea-complex that an isolationist US might be one of the sliver lining of trump 2

eduard karpoev

I think what Will & Felix talked about an hour in about permanent minorities groups oppression/genocide & war is super applicable. Like what we see in Artsakh/Nagarno-Karabah & presently in Palestine while also increased open military posturing around the world I think we could be beginning of a very serious age of conflict ushered in since 2021/2022

justdave

Heh Jonathan. Your not brave enough to do anything.

Alejandro Pepsi

I first found Chapo Trap House way back in 2017 when Felix went on The Intercepted Podcast with Jeremy Scahill and talked about wanting to make a podcast that made people not feel so crazy or alone. It's always great when my GOATs get together ❤️ still feel a little crazy but definitely less alone.

Ligma

Well, as a large man once said .... America deserved .... something or rather .....

Alex “WORLDWIDE” Kellar

Brother, I would like nothing more than all the Israelis expelled to some combination of the moon, Germany, or Florida or worse. Hell, I would like to go back in time and kill every Nazi officer and sterilize their immediate families after WWII and call it even. Am I gonna get down in the nitty gritty of what the future wish involves on a public forum? No! But I look forward to whatever you do, man, go big

Alex “WORLDWIDE” Kellar

I’m with ya 10,000% on free speech being worthless if it can’t include calls to action(s). Ultimately just a mirage of a salve

MATT TRIANO

He meanders completely in this one

Sman

bruce

what did killa kamala have to offer

bruce

it’s just because one happens here and one there. and on a base level the people who refuse to see this at all are just despicable racists that in effect (though they may not so impolitely and directly state it) see palestinians as expendable subhumans, no more no less

bruce

when you live in a country with less rule of law every day, obvious bullshitting of the law by everyone in charge, no accountability for the despotic overlords and the genocidaires they arm… shit will get crazy. it truly is like an unavoidable social reaction. but apparently that’s somehow unreasonable to observe

Joshua

Would love if you guys added this one to the free feed for people. I first got introduced to you guys through Jeremy back in 2017. Always appreciate you having him on

Chubby Justin

You're not going to make me feel upset about someone going loud on joseph goebbels. You can have any "random Americans" as long as they volunteer for the idf and make a career out of propaganda for ethnic cleansing.

Chubby Justin

[sees reinhard heydrich gunned down by partisans] oh you might as well drag random Americans out of their beds and force them against a wall. Be real

Jonah

"The palestinian resistance hasn't engaged in armed resistance outside of palestine". Well, the guy who did it wasn't hamas. What does that have to do with anything? The truth is, for any country, energy spent internally is energy not being spent projecting force outward.

Ligma

For as much as Trump is a "fascist" these guys sure aren't taking his annexation threats seriously

justdave

When jews in the camps were traumatized to the point of total existential collapse their nazi guards would see them staring at the ground, completely broken and despondent. The nazi called these people "muselmen" because it reminded them of Muslims in prayer (and its pretty funny). Cruelty towards your enemies breeds generations of vengeance and you never know how that will end up looking. These two young people were "evil" -but so is everyone else. I hate humanity right now and find it difficult to not pray to be in the last generation.

Zen Ben

Please, dear Chapo para-socialists, stop virtue signalling for an ep to be made public. You have no vote.

Ligma

Not saying that these countries are great or ideal, but what's going on in Palestine is the complete rejection of any idea of coexistence

Zen Ben

Will's moment of moral lucidity, wondering at what new arch-demon the Gaza fiasco has birthed. 1:02:45

justdave

Please mr chapo. If only the stupid masses could hear my favorite podcast, The world would heal itself

Mojtaba HUSAYNI Khamenei

It makes perfect sense. You said violence against anyone is wrong. Do you mean that?

Ligma

People suddenly get queasy when the targets are young and attractive

PearlDrinkingMan

Triplevalaska, I respectfully suggest that you kill yourself

PearlDrinkingMan

Because I'm waiting to see what flowers you push up so I can spend my penultimate moments pissing on them

justdave

I've got some toulips right here for you pussy

K H

You aren't a good enough fbi waifu to die for. One day I will find her.

justdave

It turns out the guy was a false flag

meta

Israel needs to issue an apology for the death of that couple.

justdave

I consider the Average american as worse than reinhard heydrich

Jaime Christley

A friend of mine is an immigration attorney who loves nothing better than winning cases against ICE. I envy him because it often feels like he's the only one in my social scene who's actually doing something besides posting. Anyway, I asked him about airport security best practices, i.e. what to do if you get that 2nd layer of scrutiny. Here's what he said: 1) Suppose they ask you a question that you don't understand. Instead of trying to answer it (because now you're at a disadvantage), ask for them to clarify what they're asking, or restate the question. You want to be sure about what you're putting across. 2) NEVER give additional information. Even as something like what car you drive. Ex. "What color is you car?" If it's blue, say blue. Don't say it's a Blue Honda Accord. 3) If you don't know the answer to a question, or can't remember, DON'T guess: saying you don't recall or that you don't know isn't going to get you into trouble; on the other hand, if you fumble the answer and it doesn't check out, they might flag that as suspicious. It costs you nothing to reach out to an immigration attorney before you travel and just be like "Hey can I reach out to you if things get weird at the airport/border/etc?" Unless they're a real piece of shit they should be happy to be - potentially - a lifeline.

HP

Thank you. I hope you make this a free episode. I understand why it is paywalled, but there are people who need to hear this

Roland Thompson

Sounds good dawg, as long as they start with you so we ain’t gotta hear your whining anymore

justdave

Roland's Thompson gun would rip your back out

Goonba

It’s free on acid Marxist now yall

Isaac

He’s saying if you want to help Palestinian resistance don’t go rogue, follow their lead and do something they would approve of.

Jonah

I get it. Like I said. Energy at home.

Actually Slavoj Žižek

I love you. Black Wolf Feed stopped working a couple of months ago so I finally had to break down and pay.

jack flowers

If you need it so badly that you will pay when you can't pirate it than you should just pay

Creamy Goodness

Most Americans didn’t support or participate in that, any most sre also brutalized by the same machine to different or lesser extents. Zionists by definition support the genocide. Anyone that materially supports the genocide can get dragged out of bed. Israel needs to go.

justdave

American tax dollars fund Israel. YOU are complicit

Dee Rubes

Always great with grimm and scahill on

The Adventures of Mac

Is pretty rare that Chapo makes my cry tears of rage and frustration.

Erik Bourre

Its clear the solution right? v1olence against the system and state no?

MadamAjab

If you understand Hamas' actual policies (regardless of individual actors), it doesn't support shooting women in the back as they crawl away, especially if they're not active combatants (on duty soldiers) and they do try to avoid intentionally killing civilian women, children, and the elderly because of their religious laws so I'm not sure why the need to pretend like it isn't distasteful to most people, even if they understand the way Israel's conduct has created the circumstances for individuals getting to the point they are pushed to the brink and commit extreme acts.

K H

Yawn. Nobody dies clean. Healthcare ceos don't. Bourgeois under a guillotine don't. Nobody. You keep referencing that she was a woman and crawling. So what? For a brief moment of her life she was as weak and vulnerable as the people she built her life on destroying and for that you think we should have some sympathy. Fuck that. I guarantee hamas saw worse than that and see people die worse than that and every revolutionary movement will see people die worse than that. It's not how you die that makes a tragedy it's how you live. We can see how she lived.

drunk cig

Gaza as a blueprint for the future?? Bruh, it's the blueprint of the past. When has this not been happening? This one is just on US TV. If anything I'd say this is more of a last gasp of modern western colonialism. Watching too many movies if you think this leads to the dystopia. Every generation wants to be the ones to usher in the apocalypse...not to fear...things continually go up and down and get better and worse in a million different ways. It's a matter of perspective. From my POV Israel is desperate and will self destruct. I don't understand the fear when what we're supposed to do is so apparent.

Eli S

You’re misunderstanding them. They’re saying that republicans want to do to black people in the first world what Israel is doing to Palestine/Palestinians

Mojtaba HUSAYNI Khamenei

I mean we saw with india's immediately psychotic actions and genocidal rhetoric what Israel's conduct has meant and will mean for warfare in the future.

glaourgbn

Test run for the genocide response to climate change's mass migration.

etienne

it's gonna get gnarly

SparkSolidarity

Felix, love you bud, drink a coffee maybe?

NewTooshFatoosh

If Trump gets this genocide to stop, he can be god emperor for life for all I care. I would give up anything and everything for this to end. I wish I didn’t have to think about it in these terms… but this is the world we’re living in.

Kolby Roberts

Hasan is too big, Felix is a jew, Matt no speak so good anymore, sorry Will your ass is getting detained next.

Andrew Cross

WHERE IS MY FUCKING SCHNIPPER’S

Philippe Duhart

Felix’s point about the antifascism industry is spot-on. As soon as the 2020 protests began they warned of “fascist infiltrators” and even “outside agitators” hijacking the George Floyd demonstrations, much as they rushed to denounce supposed antisemitism and crypto-Nazism among anti-genocide protesters in late 2023. Their performative “antifascism” is obvious cover for their support for state counterterrorism (however defined by the state).

Elder millennial

It just occurred to me that when people say “it’s complicated,” they are really saying, “my feelings are conflicted. On one hand I know this violence is fundamentally wrong, but my identity is so closely rooted to the bad guys and I’m not emotionally mature enough to face those complicated feelings.”

Eli S

They can ban Hasan but they can never ban his ideas

K U

Looks like I was fucking right. Looks like my analysis is superior to the reporting of these "professionals".
