TWO WEEKS LEFT to pre-order YEAR ZERO: A Chapo Trap House Comic Anthology at badegg.co/products/year-zero-1

Journalist Jasper Nathaniel joins us to discuss his reporting on the West Bank and Israel’s second front in the war on Palestine. We look at the increasingly violent settler movement, Israel’s flagrant violation of international laws, the use of archaeological warfare in the region, and the constant ubiquitous violence that defines life for Palestinians living under Israeli occupation. And on the domestic front, we have an update on the good professor Davidai and his relationship to the august institution Columbia University.

Both you and brace are taking off, something big is going to happen this week

This town ain’t gay enough for the 2 of us

I’m gayer

I try and predict something, in Europe especially Germany and Austria, enormous efforts are made to misinform and lie to people about what Israel is doing, and what kind of country it is. And bc this works less day by day they rely on oppression and fear (of arrest or loosing your job etc) to keep people in line for Zionism. But there is a lot of rage building up about the general crimes, but also that governments, Media is willing to throw any little pretense of int. Law and liberal world order over board for Netanyahu and this disgusting terrorstate. And in Germany and Austria any holocaust rememberance will be a farce. (As it already is all these intellectuals in may who in their speeches in a kz! Talked half their speech of how Israel is being treated unfairly) And slowly the thought will creep in that maybe what greatgrandfather did was also self Defence, bc look at what they do when they rule and are in power. And it will gain more sailiance bc the far right can finally make people feel unashamed of being nationalists. And as it looks liberals and conservatives many socdems would rather loose power than give up on Zionism.

Creemi

That story about the hippie yoga zio wanting to run over palestinians is truly peak liberalism

Throw Away

There is nothing beautiful about Provincetown

SoConfused

Just a horrifically evil country

Throw Away

There’s gay sex everywhere. I had gay sex in Brockton last week. Is Brockton beautiful and historic

Alexandre Chevalier

For anyone who may be wondering: ‘KZ’ = Konzentrationslager / concentration camp.

Mungo Franczak

Ayyyye MA represent… I could’ve bought y’all a beer, I was in PTown this weekend too!

Mungo Franczak

I remember growing up playing hockey games at the Brockton hockey rink

I feel ashamed that I saw what this episode was about and wished it was about something else. Horrible times we live in

Josie

I beseech you to unlock this. I know yall got bills to pay but it is absolutely imperative that this be widely distributed

Avery Neese

I can't find the Pat Buchanan quote Felix is talking about. Anyone else?

Dyyyyylan

I think this is a public one

All hippies are just mean people fighting a losing battle to tamp it down

The British Raj carried out the Jallianwalla Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919. The British were scrambling after it and condemned it vociferously, it gave a massive surge to the indian independence movement. Even Churchill, who was secretary of war at the time, came out against it. And the people who ran the Raj can hardly be described as people with conscience. It still took them about 30 years to leave. A Jallianwalla Bagh massacre happens every week in Gaza, if not every day. Maybe every day. I do not want to paint a hopeless pessimistic picture. But the people who run Israel and US have even a less of consience than the British Raj.

christoph.s

Thank you for the clarifictaion. Sry I am a non native speaker and still sometimes mix up german and english. I hope it was otherwise readable.

christoph.s

I think it is very understandable. There is a reason why it is a form of torture to witness the physcial harm of others.

Noah

Gay sex is the beautiful rose emerging through the concrete pad of the stolen A/C unit that is Brockton 🌹

Michelle

Was there ever a point where the US could have told Israel to knock it off?

Noah

They really do get mean when you harsh their buzz...

Noah

I guess we could go back to Reagan famously telling Israel to knock it off in Lebanon, and ask ourselves what's changed since then to make that "impossible".

christoph.s

I see your point. But for example in ww1 it was a sign of utter barbarity that the germans burned down Louvain and killed 200 civilians. No one bats an eye that israel does that daily. Or the execution of Edith Cavell, a nurse and spy for the allies in ww2. Both action were crticised by some public figures. I would not take it as any sign that people were more moral then. I think the only difference is that the british empire and people like churchill professed certain values (of course farcicle but still) and he was not willing to publicly throw them overboard. Many political officials and media etc in the west especially see it differently now.

Sam

Felix’s RHCP hypothetical reminds me of when I saw Weezer bring out Tom Delonge to sing The Sweater Song in 2008, an impression of which I still love to do.

K H

Mistake for Palestinian Authority not to fight. On what planet do they not see themselves as next? Of course the same is true in the US. Everyone thinks if others make themselves small enough they will be spared. Nothing and no one will be spared. Everyone must be ready.

Wyatt the Wallaby

More and more the only way I think this will ever end, is if both america and israel are given the same treatment as Germany was in 45

K H

He had an American flag on the window? Was it bigger than the ones on USS Liberty? Maybe it wasn't big enough to be visible.

Dunc

Guest very well spoken (part of this is having a good podcast voice)

Griffin Post

Just like the Yiddish Policeman’s Union, lets resettle them in Alaska

Alex Pel

I was recently at the meetings of the Society for American Archaeologists / Paleoanthropology Society in Denver, and my god, there was such a huge contingent of Israeli archaeologists, and they were just insufferable. One guy got called out for his presentation basically just being pseudoscience, and he then spent the next 15 minutes arguing with the entire room, refusing to allow anyone else to answer questions. It was comic how on the nose it was.

K H

It's kind of America's Dorian Gray portrait. It gets more and more evil while we save face. Now it's too much, spilling over here. Israel must be destroyed in order for anyone to have a chance.

K H

I'm interested to hear more about the Palestinian Authority because to me they fulfill the ultimate state of the Democratic party. Maybe Chuck Schumer is a Palestinian. The uncool Palestinian Authority type.

Ben Dayho

Sounds like the retconning of the U.S. civil war as a "lost cause"

christoph.s

there are def similarities.

james

This show is covering Palestine better than any old news media, and more than any other media whatever of it's size. You're all doing wonderful, and important work, thank you

AKorgar

I do hope you're wrong though if only because I can't imagine who could be capable of taking on such a task

Michelle

I’m sure there was some small print in the agreement that said stay out of Lebanon, stick to Gaza and the West Bank. As the Christian right took over the GOP, I’m sure they were very persuasive about hastening The End Times.

MCL

We could put every settler from the West Bank into west Texas and no one would notice.

Benj

In the lowlands far North of the river

Timothy Buttons

Small print? We can control them because we are the ones who arm them. If our government was following rules and procedures then Israel wouldn't receive a penny from us, the Leahy Laws forbid the US from giving military aid to entities engaged in human rights violations; Patrick Leahy, the former Senator who led the creation of these rules plainly stated that we were violating them January of last year. We are principal actors in this and our government could stop it any time they want Edit: The Leahy Laws have obviously been unsuccessful as far as US foreign policy goes, but they remain on the books and we are supposedly supposed to be following them

Jake Zydek

operation get-behind-the-settlers

Shai Davidi pulled a Matt Gaetz.

Anyone know the music at the end?

C. Ries

On the nose lol

A very Zionist childhood friend recently visited me and Israel came up. her husband spoke up and said “this is the first time I’ve heard her acknowledge what’s going on there” to which she said “you can’t talk about Israel if you’ve never been there” and walked off. The complete lack of compassion for Palestinians is so disgusting I was glad when she left.

Spica

With the archaeology stuff, the Nazis tried to do the same thing with the ancient proto-Germans who migrated West from Eastern Europe.

christoph.s

I have had similar experiences, with israeli friends of my austrian jewish friends. One said to me you know we have to defeat the palestinians like the allies defeated Germany in WW2 unconditional surrender until then, we kill them. And I was like well, I thought something similar, just we are not on the same page who is who. In austria and germany there is an insane new breed of people, who usually work in media or academic institutions who basically act (in an offensivly jewish stereotypical way)like they are jewish but not quite say it, use phrases like I am personally affected etc (with 07.10.2023) and then you find out of course they are not jewish and in fact their ancestors were nazi war criminals like most of us in austria or germany.

christoph.s

True! Bush senior is also an example! in desert storm and before with the settelments.

SMP500

Thank you for sharing. The person I’m referencing is Jewish but her husband is catholic. When I asked how does he feel about the ongoing situation she said “oh, he’s on our side!” To which I said “which side, the genocide?” That’s when I knew it was a completely lost cause.

Cody Ross Rex

Thanks again for doing the good work boys

christoph.s

So the circle closes, I am catholic:) I have had a cliche moment like Jasper talked about, when I visted the westbank (and I was critical of israel before) and was like oh I know nothing! This is insanity! especially Hebron and it was 13 years ago! It is just a strange world, I visit israel get hit on by jewish israeli girls and get treated very well by all in tel aviv (again greatgrandson of two nazi officers) and then I visit the US and right from the airport on I had several experiences where I get treated better than african americans. If that is not white supremacy what is?

Wilko

I don't remember the details, but I recently learned that after ~10 generations you are as closely related to your ancestor as you are to any other human being on the planet. The idea of bloodlines spanning centuries by itself is ridiculous, let alone the idea that you can derive any rights to claim a stretch of land for yourself, especially at the exclusion of others.

EaZy E

Does anyone remember the episode when Felix talks about his flight sim setup? I swear it was like a call-in show where there was also like a real military pilot allegedly that left a question. I know it comes up, but i cant remember the details

Josie

THANK YOU for releasing this episode into genpop - I'm sharing it EVERYWHERE!! Luv u guys 😘

Ryan

This was the call in episode where he talks about his Sim setup when an actual pilot calls in

Jimmy McMillan

This opinion sounds corny in my head, but I don't see how any of this dehumanizing propaganda against America's enemies should be effective in the age of Tick Tock and YouTube shorts. I see tons of clips from people all over the world doing silly dances, stunts, and skits. They all seem like regular dudes and ladies to me

EaZy E

Yes, definitely. Was that last summer maybe? You have any idea on an ep#?

K H

Eww. Sorry. May she reform or her marriage splinter.

K H

Look at this cool guy. Maybe some can just go to a re-education camp.

Erik Bourre

just ordered the comic!! woooooo

Alexandre Chevalier

Always remember, kids: Hippies are bad people pretending to be good, and punks are good people pretending to be bad.

Antipaganda

If it doesn't go into the history books, the gay sex wasn't beautiful enough.

Antipaganda

Every day is that point.

CMC

A book worth reading is “The Bible Came from Arabia.” The author was a well respected scholar. I lack the background to critically evaluate Salibi’s thesis, but it would be incredible if he was correct and the events of the Pentateuch happened in Arabia rather than Palestine.

Jaime Christley

West Bank Palestinians need to find hungry Samurai

protob1

Imagine sitting in a car next to a Dutch hipster bitch, listening to her say how she would run someone over with her car, and NOT cracking her across the teeth. What a fucking pussy.

J Fitz

Need to know the bop in the outro

blazed uncle

Excellent guest. Does anyone know who that joke Baathist for the PA guy on Twitter that Felix referred to is?

Chapo Bath House

I, too, only misspell things in a move of 5d chess to bring down my enemies

Jonathan G

Serious question: what happened to all the “oink” people

Jon

Hard to oink like giddy piggies when the topic is genocide

Marcus Cassop Thompson

Just thought I'd share: there's a British secular historian of the old testament/ Hebrew bible Francesca Stavrakopoulou who did a series about the bible on BBC. The second episode on the topic of King David and the claimed United kingdom of Israel. She is very skeptical such a kingdom ever existed in the way biblical sources recount it. She's acknowledges this is her position and scholarship on much of the historisticity of that presented bible is very contested But it's a very interesting insight into about politicized history and archaeology is in Israel. Think you can find this docu on YouTube 'Bibles Burried Secrets: Did King David's Kingdom Ever Exist."

Conner

I know this is a very serious episode, but I can’t get over how much jasper sounds like Daniel Tosh.

NikolaDemitri8784

Yeah, the Bible is absolutely not a history textbook.. There was a kingdom of Judea, the longer lasting kingdom, and the kingdom of Israel, both of which were ancient Jewish kingdoms, the former of which outlasted the latter, but the narrative of the history in the Bible is absolutely not historically rigorous. What was or was not a thing in history really depends on what one is talking about, but most of the stories that people know best are legendary and/or mythological, and even would have been understood as such by ancient Rabbi (at least that’s my understanding per the last part, based on what I’ve heard from Jewish friends who know better than me). Thanks for the heads up on that BBC thing. Sounds interesting!

Martin Lightgold

Yeah and then she calls her psychotic friends who are armed with American military hardware, and they kill him, or if he gets lucky he just gets expelled from the area and can no longer cover it any more and expose the horrible shit going on there.

Audeamus

You go there and do that, courageous warrior.

Audeamus

Palestinians, Syrians, Libyans, Afghans etc. are mostly not "regular dudes and ladies", they're poor and in crisis, often due to past policies of Empire. You won't see them doing the same stuff. An ignorant Westerner may even think, "I don't hate Arabs, I see lots of them online and they're just like me... It's only the ones in [current target] that are abnormal". Also it's not a democracy. They don't ask you before they drop the bombs.
