Matthew

For all Matt and Felix's criticisms of Season 2, I still can't help but like it the most because its two major storylines are precipitated by the superhuman ressentiment of Stan Valchek and Jimmy McNulty lol

A lot of people identify the source of their relative dislike of season two as the focus being taken away from the Barksdale organization, but the actual issue that they maybe can’t articulate (but probably does in a way have to do with it focusing on white people instead of black people) is that season two has more “high drama” than the other seasons do

I’ve always seen the Namond getting out as being a condemnation of NPR narrative in that he is clearly nepotistic and undeserving of his fate compared to those of his piers. For sure fuck David Simon though

Season 4 is very sorkin-brained "education is the silver bullet" type shit

king_von_diesel

I dont think thats the takeaway from s4 lol

king_von_diesel

I always thought the 4th season as less David Simon, more Ed Burns, who worked as both a cop and a teacher. I think it definitely came closest to my experience of being a newby teacher

I liked Treme.

As bad as Dominic wests accent is throughout the show knowing the first choice for McNulty was Ray Winston makes me wonder of the incredible mutant bmore /American accent he would have brought

Scott Grabel

When the Frotcast reviewed the show, they found a lot more enjoyment appreciating the show as a workplace comedy and clash of personalities than the social commentary.

.

Winstone is a great British actor (nil by mouth, sexy beast, the war zone) but this would’ve been abysmal because he is terrible at accents. He pulled out because he didn’t want his kids living in American culture for a long period of time which I mean, fair, but the UK is arguably worse. But yea that Boston accent in the Departed was horrific.

David Simon’s 3 part “Show Me a Hero” is outstanding. And yes it’s just like season 4 of the wire but about housing.

Younghead takes when they are in their 40s and they rewatch thes shows they will realise Treme tops the wire no question
