Restaurants are much better. However, some of the old standbys, McDonalds, Burger King, IHOP, and Dennys are worse. Maybe it's just a decline relative to alternatives, but at least in my memory, the burgers at McDonalds and BK once seemed to taste on the good side of OK. I have a hazy recollection that places like IHOP and Dennys once made omelettes from actual eggs rather than the powdered substitute (a pure abomination).

Speaking of loneliness and Taylor Swift: my wife went to one of the Taylor Swift concerts and was showing me videos of the crowds. It legit looked like the Hajj or the Maha Kumbha Mela or something. She also met and talked with strangers for the first time in months - she works from home and we’re in a city where we don’t know anyone - and described the whole thing as a spiritual experience that made her feel better than she had for a long time. We’re talking about 2 completely different people. I’m talking about Gary Bowser and the proliferation of R4 cards and it’s knock on effect with small developers. You had games like Soul Bubbles from very small devs that were heavily pirated to the point that studio was shuttered.

What isn’t fine is profiteering off the labor of others, which is exactly what Gary Bowser was doing.
