Organizers Layla Elabed and Waleed Shahid join us to discuss their recent successes with the movement to vote uncommitted against Joe Biden in the ongoing democratic primaries. They lay out their goals, how they’ve been organizing, what they feel they’ve achieved so far, and what they hope to accomplish going into the Democratic convention.

Thank you for your efforts! I hope it Leads to a ceasefire. And in the future the beginning of the end of Zionist Israeli dominance in influence of American politics.

EXN

Waleed! Great guy 👍

Declan Kennedy

this has been an extraordinary campaign to pull off in such a short time, these heroes deserve so much respect

Schwartz666

Thank you Layla & Waleed! Great work.. currently trying to get my folks to understand why I'm "uncommitted"

Doom Hermit

Already marked my uncommitted vote and dropping off my ballot here in WA next Tuesday ✊

JD Nonce

I feel invigorated. I’m gonna phone bank

Erik

Too much slop, Chris. You’re gonna make your hogs sick from overstuffing

Matelda

Biden will not win Michigan. He has to step down.

Ardy Rezv

Why. Don’t we as leftist want the Democratic Party destroyed?

Ardy Rezv

If you’re planning on voting uncommitted or not voting in 2024 you are going to have to be able to look the people trying to vote shame you in the face and say “sure, maybe this will lead to Trump being President and I don’t care.”

Forrest Taylor

I had to vote for Marianne because she's hot and I don't fear commitment

William

Never be ashamed of that. Unless that’s your kink

Fiddypea

A tslopnami indeed!

William

Idk if you’ve noticed, but the fascism you fear Trump brings? It’s already here. BEEN here. There is absolutely zero difference between Trump and Biden right now. Trump in office might actually force democrats to back up all the shit they been saying. Have fun supporting a genocide tho I guess

William

Easy, because Biden isn’t stopping isreal from killing innocent civilians and children via bombs we give them and they couldn’t afford otherwise

Matthew Krueger

I don't have a problem with telling folks I'm not voting for Biden, my problem lately is "Did a US democrat supported genocide in Gaza turn me into an accelerationist?"

Kevin A

Honestly such an impressive electoral strategy on such a small budget

Matelda

I want a genocide to stop

Ardy Rezv

I agree m8 lol. I’m telling the more lib minded leftist they need to embrace it.

Ardy Rezv

Doesn’t seem like anyone with power will do anything about it.

Eric Murphy

I wrote in ceasefire in the Mass primary by early voting before we all agreed on uncommitted and I feel like some how that's gonna get lost in the coverage. if covered at all

Ardy Rezv

Sorry, if you’re uncommitted for the primary but not for the general then you’re not serious. When the time comes and you get bullied by Trump derangement libs tell them to go F themselves

Matthew Krueger

They do need to embrace it. I really love the mental gymnastics involved with how my inability to support a genocide will make me responsible for the end of democracy. Say that sentence out loud, it's fun!

ZeeBee

Also in Mass and I voted early for Marianne (even though she had already dropped out) because I didn't hear about the uncommitted campaign until a day or two after I submitted my ballot. I feel like there might be a decent number of us.

Demented Avenger

After listening to this interview, I've come to the conclusion that we're fucked. Those uncommitted delegates will get played by the DNC somehow and most of the uncommitted voters will vote for Biden come November after Biden does nothing about Gaza. I admire their enthusiasm, but without a more concrete plan, we're really, really fucked.

Jwood

If you're uncommitted in the primary and don't end up voting for Biden in the general, nice. If you end up voting for Biden in the general then all you've accomplished is folding yourself into a pretzel. 🥨

Matelda

Buddy who are you talking to

itsjenjen

just signed up to text bank.

Mark Schneider

I live in Minnesota & hadn't heard of the Uncommitted movement here, which Jeffrey St. Clair reported only started up 8 days prior to Super Tuesday. He added that the 18% of Dem ballots passed mean at least 11 delegates to the Convention, similarly Hawa'ii will have at least 7 delegates Uncommited. I could not vote Dimmie or Repug, so I joined the "Legalize Marijuana Now!" party, the only other choice, & wrote in Jill Stein.

K H

That pivot to follow the media spotlight was quite brilliant. I am surprised it got that much traction. Times have certainly changed.

Schwartz666

"But Trump will be so much worse and end democracy!" is what they say

Brian J. Lancaster

Damn it, I shouldn't have sent out my primary ballot as soon as I got it. I do everything prematurely. I just left that one blank.

Amit Bhaumik

It is insane to me you would vote uncommitted because someone conducted a genocide while claiming you'll turn around and vote for him just so long as he stops doing it anymore.

DRV

No worries; not voting

Ardy Rezv

All the dsa types in the chapo audience. They aren’t very smart, and can easily be vote shamed. Everyone knows people will hear the lesser of two evils arguments in a few months. Also seems like the organizers are itching to vote blue, just not for Biden lol

Shane

Can’t vote uncommitted or do a write in in my state so I picked everyone’s fav crystal hot momma

Peanut Horse

You can also just tell them you’re not voting uncommitted then actually vote uncommitted lol

Peanut Horse

You can just lie to an outrageous lib family member/friend and say you voted Biden and then vote uncommitted without telling them lol

Yoshi

You're getting one of them either way 💋

Yoshi

What else are you going to do? It's too late, you get trump or Biden no matter how hard you don't vote 👍

Jwood

Sorry, I thought that was implied and rather obvious. What's your point?

Matthew Krueger

We're fucked now? The 2016 and 2020 primaries have already pretty clearly demonstrated how fucked we are. I keep hearing Christman's voice in my head warning about wanting that apocalyptic conflict, about how that's also sort of deep down fascistic - how satisfying it is as a fantasy idea... but I honestly don't believe this is that. It's simpler: I just don't think anyone who thinks of themselves as a moral person can justify voting for someone responsible for genocide. I mean you absolutely can, but that will involve the sort of ideological pretzel-making and auntie anne levels of spiritual contortion which will further erode what little is left of anything the democrats (and anyone who thinks of themselves as one) claim they stand for. Besides, Biden might still win, and even if he doesn't, Trump might get in and not become a dictator - the same way he didn't last time - in order to let the project of hollowing out whatever is left continue at the rate it has been. And if things actually get worse for everyone? Well that is where it was always going anyhow and it's always been a question of when and how fast - not if and can we stop it.

J P 3

I like that bit about "going to the convention and hold whoever the nominee is accountable". i.e. god willing, not Biden. Unfortunately, probably still Biden.

Ardy Rezv

lol. Naw I want them to know. Funny enough my lib family members who I used to argue with hate Biden now

Andrew Fedje, Conduit of Corn

Local Minnesotan here who voted uncommitted solely because I found out I could last week. Thanks, mainstream media, for helping me fuck you over.

Jameson .

Will is a very good interviewer.

aKg

Can anyone provide insight as to why there is a reluctance to highlight the fact that 88,000 voted no preference in North Carolina? seems like something to brag about. Nearly 13% of Democratic primary voters.

Jackie Gleason

I was talking with a buddy and it is 100% true you ALWAYS have to get a circumcision to convert. When I asked what about me, I am already circumcised, he told me they still have to do the ceremony and draw a little blood to make it legit.

Terry Buckley

The uncommitted movement is 100% the reason Biden is building an Israeli staffed "aid" pier, cool

Anna

Agree wholeheartedly with Matthew’s comment. Missing Christman’s analysis of the shitstorm, that is no less bleak but much less apocalyptic than it seems. Thinking healing thoughts for that big brain of his

triplevalaska

This mind as well be pod save America, gay

Robert

So here in Idaho, the state Dems just decided (after March 11th) to change their primary caucus options to explicitly prohibit an Uncommitted option. Prior to that, you were told you could. Clearly the "Democratic" establishment understands that the Uncommitted movement threatens their supposed legitimacy
