The 5-parter "event" that never was.So as previously stated in a few posts, I had this big plot mapped out called Future's End, in which Alyx Vance would awaken in the future and be the protagonist through the narrative of Half-Life 2... only with added DC'ness.This is the completed first chapter of 5, that I was trying to smudge into a solid 3.So in short for those paying attention to any story I write, The G-man took Alyx from Xen where she had been banished by Dr Breen and her rescue was stopped by none other than the returning Batman! Why?!Well... here goes.CHAPTER ONE - you're reading it!CHAPTER TWO:Alyx would have reunited with a now wheelchair bound Barbara, where she explains that The Combine took over Earth and laid waste to most of it's heroes and villains. Their reunion would be short lived as Barbara's lab is attacked by The Combine resulting in Barbara's capture and Cheetah's death... at the hands of Batman?! Batgirl and Alyx would escape into Ravenholm.CHAPTER THREE:Navigating Ravenholm Batgirl sacrifices herself to an alien horde so Alyx can head back to City-17 to regroup with The Resistance, meeting up with Katana to help free the best chance at storming the Citadel... Poison Ivy. With Pamela onside and teaming up with the remaining heroes, the assault begins!CHAPTER FOUR:The Citadel is stormed and Alyx makes her way inside, as her allies are killed. Inside Alyx herself is then captured by Batman and brought to Dr Breen's office, where Barbara is also being held and tortured. Just as the duo are about to be teleported to Xen... Batman kills Breen and frees the confused duo.CHAPTER FIVE:Batman explains that since his vanishing, he had been in council with The G-Man, who explained to him how his race are at war with The Combine, but view time very differently from our own. He convinced Batman that the only way Earth could be saved and The Combine defeated would come via a series of events The G-Man had mapped out, including having Alyx sent to Xen originally for him to make set Alyx's path in motion without detection.The G-man foresaw Alyx Vance and her expertise would be required at this very moment, at this very location in order to overwhelm the Citadel's teleporter and create a chain reaction that would cripple The Combine throughout the entire Universe. Alyx succeeds in her sabotage as Batman dies defending her and Barbara looks on in horror as the Teleporter explodes. Alyx wakes up back in Gotham in her own time with The G-man informing her that The Combine's defeat rippled not just through the Universe, but time itself... and as thanks, he saved her and returned her to her own time.----------------------------Fuck me. Wasn't that just a bastard to wrap your head around and try to understand?!Can you see why I couldn't be bothered to make/write this saga and lost all love for it?Anyway, that's it... roughly and crudely written out. That's where Batman was after vanishing, why he seemed to betray our heroes in Black Mesa, The G-man and his motives and just how after everything Alyx returned to Gotham.That was meant to be Future's End.
