You know, it's funny that we think of Chapter 15 as a bridge episode, where the story works on existing plot threads that will play out to some form of a conclusion shortly. Why is that funny? Because it's bookended with serious drama, horror, and action that's almost a whiplash in intensity when it hits. Still, we're looking forward to 0.16.0, which (like N&T) promises to be packed with story developments as it shakes up the status quo and sets the table for the last half of the game.

Some users have inquired about the possibility of a bad ending, separate from the normal "No one" endings, where you don't romance any of the girls throughout the game. Like what we did with the Director's Cut of Now & Then, where there was an extended epilogue after Jack dies in the school, we're toying with a scenario where John dies, and the others make it out. Implementing that ending might be something that happens near the end of development, just so that its existence doesn't ruin certain plot elements of the main story. We're still figuring out the logistics behind it, but it's something we're seriously entertaining.

I'll admit to having some negative opinions on "You're Dead" endings and fail states in visual novels, mostly landing in the territory that they're often a waste of time when someone can just roll back to/reload the last autosave. There isn't a level of true anxiety from the gamer about it. So, if we do it, there should be something painful--emotionally--to make it stick. That's why the No One end in TID was so melancholic. (I wanted to mention other media that follow a similar arc, but that would really dip into spoiler territory for movies/games that you're not expecting, and that isn't cool to do.)

Definitely wanna see some bad endings. Back when I was playing n&t, I always pick the bad choices just to see what will happen after the main character died.

Thanks for the update and looking forward to seeing how the MC and Eve escape/deal with their 'surprise motherfucker' moment closing out the end of v 14.

You’ve already set up the possibility for the “you died” ending, might as well go to the end with it. It might allow you to explore emotions and story beats you couldn’t before, with MC not there to bear so much of the weight.

I'll also thumbs up any "bad ending" plot threads, especially with Eve around. It could be interesting to see what would happen if the MC is gone and she has to assert herself over the other girls or something like that. Always interesting plot branches to explore. 😊

I disagree. The bad endings in Fate/Stay Night helped the world feel more dangerous. Despite the fact that I could reload, it made me carefully consider each choice.

still hoping we get a harem ending, I think in some of the previous games external modders made it possible.

Not a fan of early bad ending. If the choice is too obvious it's useless (unless for the curious ones) and if it's the result of several choices it's annoying to reload an earlier save. An ending where you end up alone or whatnot and at the same point in the story as the other endings why not.

I probably won't play em, but it depends on the type of bad ending. Bittersweet heroic deaths are fine sometimes if done well. A villain ending where MC goes full serial killer could also be interesting. Zero interest in endings that involve the girls fucking other guys tho.

Hi K, thanks for the update and the interesting considerations regarding different endings. There are certainly many interested players who would also play bad endings, which is also clear in the comments. For me, these possibilities are not so interesting, but as long as all this is optional, I have no problem with it. Of course, I also realize that I might miss a lot of game content because of this, but love and a good ending are emotionally important to me. And you can't really play this game without emotions 😊 Have a nice weekend!

no offence, but I think "No one" endings maybe a waste of time. At least until the final chapter, it's a waste of time.
