Que pasa, my dudy dudes!!! How is your Wicked life going!!!Time to light up the torches and put out the forks 🤣🤣🤣!!  As you know, Wicked is ALIVE!!! It's changing, evolving, experimenting every month. This is what we are meant to do, and we want to take this dream and rise it to the highest stars in the firmament. You are our reason to be happy everyday and you changed our lives forever. That said, we want to be numero 1, and the road is long and demanding. But we believe that the answer to all our questions lies in you, our very Wicked dudes. That's why we are going to start having these kind of polls time to time to know your input and tackle our must urgent matters, Together. So, the first one that we want to solve it's the pre-supported versions. We feel your pain when you print something and it fails. Also, we know that making a pre-supported version that works in every machine out there is impossible, but we would like to know how we can improve what we have now, and start getting ideas and implement them with each release. That way, sooner or later, we will have the best possible outcome, and you can relay on them more. The only rule is to be kind, with us and with others. Let's create a space where we all can discuss and move forward! Now, take the time to pick an option and drop us a comment with your ideas! We will take close note of them all and see how we can implement them moving forward. Write us your experience, and how you think it can be improved!  Muchas gracias for taking the time to do it, and let's make Wicked the best!

I LOVE the pre supported models since I have a love/hate relationship with using supports in Cura, and Im horrible at placing and using the custom supports. So I do love that you guys have both options for your prints because some I will print using your supports, some parts I will use Curas. The only thing that is a bummer for me is if I print something in one piece that is pre supported, it is very attached to the models, so when I cut or break them off, it leaves a mark that needs to be sanded, and there are some things that I just print and wont need to sand. I hope that makes sense. Thanks!

3dWicked

¡Que pasa Tammy! my duuuuuuuuuuuuude <3 Muchas Gracias for appreciating our work! Here at Wicked we care a lot about your printing experience! We will always try to make things easier for you and we love to see pre-supported products help you with that. And as for the One Piece we think this is the only way, maybe using light supports in the parts where you have more detail could work, anyway with a good post processing this will not be noticed. Much love to you and we love having you here!

DSK

I’ve always been curious about these and have never really tried them BUT I will try them over this weekend and let y’all know if they work well on my Saturn. I want them to work because it will save me a ton of time and it will be a dream come true!

Trevor Hill

It's hard to select one of these. My experience is that the pre supported files are great if you use chitubox but not if you use lychee. Also now and again, there are items missing an integral support that makes I piece fail. So you need to print that one or two items with a few additional supports. (example is the phoenix bust arm where there is no presupports on the elbow island so it fails). So in general, if you are happy to use chitubox and are happy to check the islands then generally they are great. And so easy to get off the model. But they do have their negatives...

Christian

Hey! So I always use the presupported version but sometimes one or two objects fail. Also it changes from model to model, some are really good while others are really bad and need to be supported again. Without the presupported versions I would have to stop printing as I really don't have the time to support a piece. Thanks!

Ryheem McCutchen

the poll really should say i use pre-supported files and they dont work well. You only get to the last option when you feel all hope is lost.

Will Wall

I did see that issue when I imported them into Lychee. They came as one piece, so I couldn't arrange the individual pieces how I wanted on the build plate.

Brian Zaander

I love the pre-supported models. They kept me printing. On my Saturn, I've never had a failure with the pre-supported models. I just want to paint. I'm not the best at supports, so the pre-supports take a huge load off my plate. I've printed so much more stuff with the pre-supports with no issue, ever. I wish the older models were released with the pre-supports, but I know how much work goes into it. Maybe when users successfully print on various printers, they can submit those to Wicked to distribute? The pre-supports are totally a god send for me.

3dWicked

The objective of this is to know why you think these failed for you, that way we can make it constructive! So, any ideas?

3dWicked

Christian, my dude! Why do you think these two objects fail? Any idea will be welcome!

Will Wall

I had some issues early on, but it was my print settings. Since making that adjustment to my exposure time I have been able to print with no issue. I suck at placing supports, but I've gotten better, I may speak for myself when I say there is a fair amount of trial and error.

John Wiest

I'm with some of the others here in that I use the pre-supported files but I have parts that print perfect the first time and then there are parts that fail two or three times and I have to edit the supports myself.

Dario Miguel

so, i am kind of new in this patreon and i dont have printed to many models but i already have printed half of Omega pre-supported version, in one of theme they fail but is not because of the supports, i dont see first the level on my table and my first body atempt fail, in the second i try it and they have works really well. i printed the omega head pre-supported in my phrozen mini and the torso and arms in my new resin 3d printer MONO X, and i need to say, the amout of detail, joints, pre-supports, theuy all came so good man. 10/10 absolutely

Andrés

Y mi poll de rare villains??? :'(

Mr Mumbles

After early failed attempts at supporting the files myself, I now always use the pre-supported versions. Occasionally I get a part that fails and will then do the supports myself. Watching various videos and reading comments on Facebook, I've learnt a fair amount about object orientation - so now have a bit more confidence. But, I'll still continue to use the pre-supported files as they save a huge amount of time. One suggestion though - please build them for Lychee. Chitubox is just horrible.

The Blind Crafter

I use chitubox so it’s nice to have that option as a lot use lychee which I just don’t use as seem to have more fails with it. Since I’m new here have only printed one piece the punishers head which I supported myself and was stunning to see the detail. I always check presupports anyway as there can often be as mentioned above the odd one missing causing a fail which on 32mm minis is annoying but not end of world as doesn’t take long to print another. But on this scale and the times involved I think I’d look at supported version first to check for any obvious islands and the amount of supports on piece then decide whether to just add a few to the missing bits or to just support it myself as with so many printer types as well as resins it would be hard to have a perfect presupported model that would work on every machine. I follow a good few patreons and only one so far has had minis presupported that never fail on my printers

Jason Branham

im on fdm, the supports that are included with the stl files do not work well on any of my printers, i use them for referance more than anything else. I would love FDM supports with prusa or cura slicers.

Billy Dobson

Hey guys I can joined this patreon today and I'm new to all this stuff! I have subscribed today but how do I start to download stl files with my subscriptions? Thanks

Christian

Most of the time I think is the suction forces but other times are missing supports the problem. I get it, making supports is hard and time consuming. Do you print the models for testing? If you do and the files work, then you've done your job and as you said, you cannot make them work on all printers. That is all I can think could help. Sorry

Robert Cooper

My biggest issue with he supports is I only have a sonic 4k mini so sometimes they don't fit.

Tyler's Rose

To be honest with you guys, as other wrote, sometimes your presupported are not good. The first thing is thickness, they are often too thin. And the second biggest issue are holes. They are often placed in the very wrong position as they are supposed to make a proper resin flow, not just to cure the inside of the piece. Then, about supports fail, more is better that less (not as Raven bust heads 100% that was just crazy supported and those pieces went out totally ruined by too much supports) but, the issue is more like your models have so much textures that is very difficult to support them properly. Pls think about that while you are modelling them.... they must be supposed to be printed without lose texture details. I am lazy and i use pre supported. But atm i chose to print all my statues to 1/10 scale. So, no presupported files and i must do my own. I will print only busts with presupported files 50%.

Ben Seddon

I use them when I'm just being lazy to support my own stuff but I don't print often, I did notice on the Hulkbuster 100% some of the supports are too close to the model so they fuse when printing and there's a lot in areas that you just can't get to but can see. My biggest gripes are the tips that leave some bad scarring on the model and the square bases that leave scars on my hands 😂

Heitor Barros

coincidentally I had a problem today with the nightcrawler tentacle holders. their claws got stuck in the support (all), I believe it's because of the thickness of the piece (50%) with 100% maybe I wouldn't have this problem. I already had other problems with the bases of some models (spider-man vs vulture, venom) and I had to redo the supports. But I say they were isolated cases. Thank you very much for the great work.

BloodyDemon

The only issue i find with the presupported is that the hollow parts sometimes have holes that the have no way of draining/cleaning the inside or i have do ass additional holes to better drain or clean. Example of this was the hulkbuster's feet at 50%. UV tools helps fix this issues for those curious to know how. But i never had a failed print, with the supports :)

Shane

I'll try it on my Voxelab Proxima 8.9 tonight

Darknynja

Everything you said was pretty much exactly what I was going to say. I love the pre-supported models no matter what. But they are giving me an opportunity when something fails to figure out why therefore making me better at doing supports myself.

Brent Kutz

I do not use them much since I usally want to print the whole figure smaller or combine some parts before printing. You can't have support options for all that. The pre supports were ok the one time I used them but I tend to print at different sizes then what is sent out. I would rather see more time put into other options like having busts and sculpts be swap-able or different head options, etc.

Brent Cox

On this poll I was torn because I have used the pre supports on some models and they were great, but I have used them on others and had to work on them a bit, the most recent example would be Wolverine bust, but it wasn't a huge deal as it was just adding some supports, well and I did put in bigger drain holes. That being said, with the cost of this patreon compared to what you get, it is still way worth it anyday, even if I have to occasionally add my own stuff....worth it.

3dWicked

Welcome to Wicked, my dear Billy!!! Muchas gracias for joining us and hope you have lots of fun! Please take a look at your E-mail inbox, the welcome pack should be waiting for you there! If you can't find it, please write us a PM and we will be more than happy to help you in anything you need, my dude! Happy printing and be Wicked!

Keegan Duck

I use pre-supported files, but I print my statues in 1:10 scale. I've been using the pre-supported stl files and shrinking the full sized pieces to 60%. Coincidentally, these have been fitting almost perfectly on my build plate (I'm using the original Elegoo Mars). This means that the supports are also scaling down to 60%. I haven't had any real failures using this method and the supports are incredibly easy to peel off. I do notice that the drain holes are too small on some of these pieces though. I end up having to drill the holes out after cleaning the print and removing supports in order to drain out the trapped resin. There should always be at least 2 drain holes in order to allow air displacement so the trapped resin can flow out. Generally, I try to add more and larger drain holes on every piece. You can never have too many or too large drain holes, as long as they are in hidden areas. It's also worth not hollowing out small pieces like heads because it doesn't really save much resin and the drain holes are too small.

Joe Vitale

I'm new to resin so I'll use the pre-supported files and then check and add additional supports as a supplement and then go layer by layer looking for islands to beef up. I'll also add more drain holes. You guys get me 95% there with your pre supported files so I'm happy with that!

Simon Lovegrove

I use the pre supports and they work great 👍 the point re drain holes and maybe considering that when designing the model would be a good idea moving forward. I used to subscribe to LOOT and they offer supported models each month which are tested etc but recognise its a big overhead to undertake.

The Zedda

I just finished the Wolverine statue and on my way to making Omega Red. It's the first thing I have printed from my subscription with wicked. I had no failures with that so far. So, my experience with this has been great. I can't speak for the other prints yet. I have been with you for 4 months now. If the rest of my prints work as fluently as this did, you will have a lifelong customer with me. I had to get over the fear of letting my printer run for days, or I would have done other prints, lol. I will say the only other subscription I have is to loot studios. The reason I love them is that I can get straight to printing on my saturn. I don't have failures. I do have a Dr.doom I purchased separately that you made. That's how I found out about Wicked, but it doesn't have any supports. I want to make that badly, but I'm not good with supports or have the time for them.

Purple Ice

Pre-supported is certainly handy, but I know they are no guarantee. I use ultra-fast resin, which works well at least with the supports I use, but it may not have the strength of normal resin (at least at the low exposure time I work with). Knowing this, it's not as much a surprise when pre-supported files fail by detaching. The problem I have seen (maybe once or twice with yours, but certainly with other pre-supported models I've collected) is when the supports do not get all the islands, leaving some or all of the print a flat disc of cured resin. This issue is definitely something to work on and improve. It's tedious, but worth it in the end. As for the former problem, like you said, you can't guarantee prints to work in every machine, nor every resin. Or can you? hmmm... What if you created a test file with the supports you use, making them just barely work on your machine, resin, and settings? Then users can use that file to test their settings, adjusting until it prints correctly. That in theory should equalize all setups, more or less. Of course, every file has its own quirks with shape and weight, and resizing will definitely affect outcomes, but this would give people a sense of what to do to improve their chances of success.

Purple Ice

Good points, all round. I would just note that hollowing out isn't just about saving resin, but also lessening the suction force per layer. I solid piece is going to have much more and on every layer, compared to hollow. That in turn means heftier supports, which may leave greater marks on the finished piece. That said, sometimes a piece is just too small for holes, and just have to deal with the supports needed. With you reducing that much, I can imagine many pieces cross that line.

Daimon Perry

But I also want to even though I don't use your supports it only because I have a smaller printer and have to resize most of what I print or I have to twist and turn it to fit it on my build plate

Purple Ice

I think Lychee and Chitubox are like Mac and PC in that there's always going to be someone on each side defending it or thinking the other is bad. To each their own. If Wicked has the time to offer files for both, that would be ideal.

Fletch-Armstrong

I have only used chitu. I use a combo of both pre an un supported. Usually print your stuff at 50 or 25%. I have never had an issue really. Keep it movin up boys and girls!

Mike Olthoff

I haven't used the pre-supported although I've looked at them. My main issue with them is the drain holes, as others have mentioned. The prints simply aren't oriented properly in relation to the drain holes, as they should be allowing air to pass through while being printed, eliminated the suction forces of enclosed cupping spaces. So far I've just done my own supports and drain holes.

Kris Butler

I use the pre-supports and they work well on the whole, it's the keys i have issue with- never seem to fit very well/gaps/poor fit.. I thought it might be my resin, but this happens with Elegoo standard/ABS-like, Anycubic Craftsman/standard.... on a Elegoo Saturn using Chitubox..

Peter Tijhaar

I'm printing on an FDM printer and always create my own. 😇

frank

im using lychee and pre supports seem to have issues

Bossjoe

I'm saying this for all the patreons under you guys: I Use your pre supported files however I do have to modify them quite a bit. The major issue is you mostly offer both a 100% and 50% size. This makes the models in 1/6th and 1/12th scale. However for comic book and starwars models 1/10th scale is FAR more popular a size than the 1/12th. This means I have to resize your 100% scale down to 60% scale to make them the proper size. Doing this causes the drain holes to be horribly small to the point they don't allow draining very well. I have to work extra hard to make drain holes the proper size or eliminate them all together and fill the piece again. I would like to see 60% offered instead of 50% but that is personal preference which is kinda what this poll is about I guess. Hope it helps with designing the future options.

Tek

i agree, 1:10 is also scene standard. models in 1:12 look a bit strange next to other models.

German

for me i think issue came from slicers, because those are made with chitubox and when I sliced with lychee there might be an error, tried different supported models from different creators and all had similar failures. Because of it i rarely would use presupp

Blubdi

Hi :) I don‘t use the presupported STLs because Of 2 reasons: The Scale. I print most of my figures at 1:8 (75%). Lychee. In Lychee I cannot seperate the presupported parts and organize my buildplate myself. Sometimes there are multiple parts in one presupported file.

Herc Palomino

I use lychee. For my machine, it is vastly superior to chitubox

Ben Banks

I typically will do my own support work in Lychee and slice with Chitubox for larger pieces. I will sometimes use pre-supported for the smaller bits that make up a kit and have had mixed results. Once the Mega arrives, I'll 100% do my own support work to minimize the chance of resin waste from failures due light pre-supports

BloodOzzy

I make my own supports. It's more comfortable for me. But often I have problems with parts of model base. They are bigger and more complex than others. And sometimes it's pretty difficult to place them

Paolo Zucchetto

I subscribed to this Patreon for the quality of the models in the first place but also because of the pre-supported option. i can support model by myself but it takes a lot of time and never find it. I only tried a couple of pre-supported files since i subscribed and it was a 50% win/fail and some of the win have too much thick supports that sometime are difficult to remove without leaving huge marks. Some fails was due to the lack of supports on some islands after checking the files. Will definitely love to see more accurate pre-supported files if that could be an option, isn't it more satisfying to put effort on painting than cleaning all the mess that a fail resin print can do?

André Wendt

I mainly use the presupported files, but i always have to switch to chitubox, because the STL files doesnt work on lychee, which is my favourite slicer. On chitubox the presupported files nearly every time work for me

Joseph Plissken

I like to have both supported and no suppotted versions. In order to be able to scale the print or fix something

ProjectSynthx

I didn’t print that much files till now but everytime I did id used the pre supported files but the fact that it only works with chitubox and not with lychee really bothers me because for me lychee is way faster. But as the others said if you load the pre supported versions in lychee it says there are tons of errors. So I never sliced in lychee. Sometimes i did the supports myself but that’s pretty time consuming so is like the pre supported files better^^

alan pye

I'm finding that the supports print well but the model pulls away as they are not deep enough. I'd rather deal with pot marks and a successful print then a failure and wasting resin and screen wear.

Matthew Cooper

I have printed the Spiderman bust and the details are amazing. I use pre supports and haven't had an issue. One recommendation I would like to suggest is the one piece files being pre supported.

Vince Dudzinski

I think the pre-supported ones are fine, and great for folks who don't want to deal with them. Personally, I have found that I tend to print at a scale for the statues that is not pre-supported (75%) - so I do them myself, which is fine - as I tend to hollow certain parts while some others I may not - so I like to be able to pick and choose as I like. I have found there to be drain holes in awkward spots in the pre-supported ones, and I like to hide mine as much as possible to save the patchwork. All being said, these are my personal preferences... so I like the flexibility of having the non-supported ones to do as I wish with. The pre-supported ones, as I said, are great for the folks who want to print quick... but if they went away I wouldn't think twice about it.

3dWicked

Muchas gracias for your suggestion, my dear Matthew! We will take a look and see what we can do, amigo! Thank you for takign the time to make Wicked better!

DSK

I printed the Wolverine bust over the weekend on my Saturn and there were no fails but the prints are not perfect and made me struggle with the support removal process. I took the pre-supported stls, imported them into Lychee and then exported them in a .ctb - there are holes in the prints and many of the supports which y'all added close to each other combined into one making them very difficult to remove even before curing. Will I get good results if I use Chitubox as the export software? I really don't want to create my own supports and I was really hoping these worked flawlessly.

3dWicked

Amigos!~ First of all, thank you so much for all your ideas, suggestions and recommendations, because these means a world to us <3 We would like to answer one by one, but we are going to take notes of all your comments and check in what order we will implement them. We will post the list soon, and we can chat a little bit more about it there. Again, muchas gracias for taking the time to make Wicked a better place together!

3dWicked

Hey Amigo! How is it going, my dude! Yeah, our supports doesn't work well in Lychee, specially since the software always shows that there is hole and problems with the files, even if these have been previously repaired. And it get even worst when you try to "repair" with the Lychee internal tool. We recommend 100% to use Chitubox, its the default software we use to pre-support in all our patreons, and our files will work without many issues there. Still, everything depends on your machine settings, but as you can see above, most of the time the pre-supported version works well. If you try that option, please let us know how it goes, and wish you happy printing, my dear DSK!!!!

Samuel Castagnetti

I'm gonna answer the same as i answered on SW and B3d cause a lot applies the same: The main issues that i had are that the holes are small and that leads to resin being stuck inside and in the long run cracking the model. also having so many pieces for the pre supported stuff makes me work a lot more so i just do supports myself on bigger chunks of the models. i preferred a lot the previous pre supports that had bigger pieces for that reason. Also a lot fo the supports are way too big compared to what the really need hence they leave a lot of scarring and are a pain to claen up and remove. I love the models and i'm happy to support but i'm not gonna lie, i print a lot less than what i would because of the work that i would have to put in in order to do so. Keep up the good work!

George Johnson

Could you give your support setting in chitubox to import

3dWicked

Muchas gracias for your input, my dude! Pretty useful stuff in your comment. We will take your comments and see how we can implement them!

3dWicked

Please ask in the facebook group, my dear amigo! We wills end you a couple of images there for you to check!

Daario Naharis

I think it needs a drain or vent hole/s closer to the bottom to prevent blowouts.

Evangelos Varvarezis

I tend to always use supports just cause of ease. Until recently it hasn't been a problem. But since The Hulk bust I am finding that the supports are getting a little to thin/weak. I am finding I have to go into the file and just add a few heavy supports in some key areas so the print doesn't rip off the supports. I don't know if you recently changed something or if it's just cause the figures have some chunkier parts.

3dWicked

Hey Evangelos! What’s uuuuuup, my dear amigo! We’re almost 100% sure thatw as for the size of the pieces and the weight in the Hulk and Hulkbuster models that was messing around with the configuration of our models! Thats why we made some arrangements to the supports we are going to release this month. Please take a look at these and let us know how you find them once these are released!

Scott gundlach

So I see this post, and I feel like adding something quite interesting. I typically struggle with support blemishes, they are kind of my arch nemesis. What I have found out, is if I use the 100% models, on my smaller printer, downscaled to (unironically) 69%, which is the largest i could fit for the particular model, the smaller supports, and using anycubic generic grey, hold the models splendidly, 0 fails so far (knock knock) and they come off with a clean squeeze and pull, and, the BEST PART, almost NO blemishes!! So, for my sake, please keep up the great supports. BTW, in case you are wondering, the model was Andrew Garfield Venomized Bust. Amazing stuff, truly.

3dWicked

Yeah, its pretty interesting! The important thing is that its working for you, my dear amigo! Thank you for reaching out and share your experience with the dudes!

Jordi Fernandez

Mo Selim

Anyone here have success with the pre-supported files on a Mono X with Anycubic plant resin? If so please share your resin print settings for Chitubox.🙏. I've only had some minor success with manually supported files on Lychee.

Jordi Fernandez

Dirt Red

I’ve had great success with the mono 4k using these steps take the presupported files and put it into your machines slicer if that’s not available use Lychee I use plant based resin and my settings are stock 2.3 exposure normal layers and 45 secs on bottom but it can very machine to machine even if same brand but start basic and run some test

¡Que pasa Dirt! my duuuuuuuuuuuuude <3!!! How are you doing in this fine Wicked day!! We are glad to see that everything went well for you, we are always looking to improve this kind of things to improve your printing processes. Enjoy the models and please let us know if we can be of any assistance. It's a pleasure for us to have you here, and muchas gracias for your support and love! Happy printing and have a Wicked week!

Devil

Hello! I know this might be too much but if possible if there was a way to keep all the presupported models separated so those who have smaller printers can print at bigger scale and it would really affect anything else beside more files to download

Devil

Wouldn’t *
