Back in art school I was always hearing professors discuss whether a piece was "successful" or not. Back then I always wondered what in the world they were talking about. They seemed so full of themselves deciding whether or not a piece of art was "good" or "not good" deeming a subjective object to be objective.

However, these days I find myself rating my own pieces as  "successful"  or "not successful" as I have come to find a different meaning within these terms. To me it's about whether or not you achieved the result you were aiming for. Not whether or not the finished piece is beautiful or worthy. These are two separate issues. I think there have been many great pieces of art that were made by accident in the sense that it wasn't really what the artist was attempting to achieve, but they made something incredible anyways.

My goal for these shots with Taya was to create a beautiful mist for her to be within, with a strong blue reflection off of the drops causing it to be ultra visible across the frame. I would say these are semi-successful because you can certainly tell what I was aiming for, but I didn't fully achieve the look I was trying to. However, that hasn't stopped these from being gorgeous pieces of art worth taking in and absorbing. I hope you all agree.
