Always makes me think of the Tiger and Del series (aka the Sword Dancer saga), which is one of my favorite series of novels. Should she be wearing armor? Probably. Should that sword be one-handed? Only if your follow the 'rules." Would the Kensai have been a better choice? Probably. But here we are.
