Sadly I don't think the homeschool kids ever showed up again. Butters is such an asshole in this episode.

Connor Clark

The speech Mark gives at the end is totally false. Homeschooled kids are often actually better socialized because they do more programs out of school like sports, music, dance, and other hobbies which is where the real socialization happens. I cant take people seriously when they say that the 5 minutes walking between classes is ‘socialization” that homeschool kids are missing out on and that’s a big deal. Such a stupid argument against homeschool

Jasper Fay

The socialization happens in the classroom and on the playground primarily. I mean, passing period in middle and high school is a hectic and possibly fun environment that you have to learn to navigate, but it's small potatoes compared to the gargantuan number of social interactions that you have during class, the amount that you talk to other kids and new adults: 6 different sets of 20-30 each year, with some crossover between classes so you see some kids in varying contexts and groups, where different dynamics form and shape your experience. Plus outside of your core subjects you are often in class with students beyond your own age. For instance the sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the journalism class I took as a freshman, and then on the newspaper when I joined second semester, were hugely influential on my development. Some were mentors for two years, some I would stay up many a late night with making racist jokes for no reason while we figured out InDesign and press deadlines, one ended up being my best friend and older brother figure for 4 years, whom I never would have met in any program but a mixed-class public school setting. You just encounter and learn how to deal with so many types of people and situations in the course of going to school, it's a constantly shuffling watermill of humans to engage and learn from. Homeschooled kids miss that, and programs/hobbies can only ever make up a sliver of what social life is like in public school, a nice little sliver that does not remotely prepare them for the world.

Connor Clark

I was in public school for grades 11 and 12, so I know what it’s like. The socialization I had in school was extremely limited compared to outside of school doing sports, hobbies, and going to events and parties and sports games. I still strongly disagree with everything you said.
