Internet shit
I'm finally back. I had switched ISPs to get proper fiber internet but they totally fucked up and I was without internet for three fucking weeks. Not happy. Anyway, it's time for an update before the next month as per usual.
Release schedules
The internet detox gave me some time to think. Last month I did a poll on what you guys prefer in terms of releases and after hovering around 50/50 for a while, it finally tipped and I now have a 57% majority saying they'd prefer more frequent releases even if they turn out a little janky and unfinished. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes honestly.
Someone said something that kind of resonated with me and that is that more frequent releases would hold me more accountable. And (s)he's right. I kind of need to be held accountable and the long release schedule is giving me an excuse to avoid the work sometimes. Besides, it's been too long since I've had some feedback and I kind of miss being involved with the community more. I've been making amazing steps in my mental health and I think I can take on some more responsibility this time and hopefully not disappoint :)
Starting today
So from now on I'll be dropping more frequent builds again. And to not delay anything unnecessarily, I'll start right away. After this, I will be updating the itch pages and going back to the distinction between the dev build and a more stable release on a seperate page for the people who prefer to play stable builds. The build I'll be uploading today is what it is: a dev build. You can start playing around with lots of new stuff but it might not always lead somewhere yet. I hope it doesn't disappoint and that the vision is clear.
Sub tiers
I am going to be redoing the sub tiers soon. They've been pretty worthless for a while now with very little voting and such going on. I kind of just want to get rid of the differences and just give them all the same benefits (except the $50 for requests, that's probably staying). They'll all have voting power if another vote may happen and they'll all give access to the game's premium features. That'll be pretty much it. I want to keep the Patreon simple and low-maintenance. Main updates will move to reddit eventually and this will be for access to in-game extras, potential voting and financial support only.
What I've done this month
Alright, onto the actual game I guess. I've been working on several things. Mostly I've been working on the main business. It's far from done but it's getting there slowly. I've started on the financial and music parts, mostly the interviews and have been working on subscriber calculations based on content, marketing and more.
In the meantime I've been working hard on the messaging and call system. I added working bootycalls and wrote a little story involving Emma Myers (you can trigger it by nót hiring her as your assistant in the beginning) where you get a chance to get your first FWB. Of course, later on you'll be able to get pretty much any girl as your FWB with the right choices, but for now it's just Emma. FWBs may bootycall you at random and I even added a perk that improves your chances of getting a bootycall :)
Most importantly I'm having lots of fun again working on the game. I'm excited to get back into a better workflow, start interacting with you guys more and make this a damn fun game together.
That's it I guess! I'll get right on getting the update online. Give me an hour or two to get everything sorted.
