Thank goodness I've been watching Buffy and Angel as I know so much about Vampires 🤣 I don't know if these types of vampires are what Buffy would like to deal with though. They seem a bit unusual.

GREAT episode, especially getting to know Rory. That's been such a treat. I really like him. He's sincere, genuine, and definitely committed to Amy. Let's watch as I decide he's my new favourite companion and then he ends up dying in some horrible fashion.

Have an awesome rest of your week! I've been all over the place trying to decide what to record for my gaming channel. I really need to set aside more time to plan, but I seem to leave it until night time when I'm in bed and then I get tired and distracted. I never learn 😅

RIP Helen McCrory, a fabulous actress taken far too soon to breast cancer at 52 leaving 2 children & her husband, actor Damien Lewis 💔

I always liked this episode and in glad you did too, Also the library card picture was the 1st doctor

The Dog Walker

I don't think its a spoiler to say Rory is a very beloved companion.

The silence was last mentioned by Prisoner Zero when he said "The Pandorica will open and silence will fall". River also mentioned having previously been with a future Doctor at the Pandorica. Everything is connected in one big series arc. I personally love series arcs. Bad Wolf (S1), Torchwood (S2), Harold Saxon (S3), Missing Planets/Bees (S4), The Doctor's impending regeneration (The Specials) and now we have Series 5's arc (won't say exactly what it is cos spoilers). I think the best implemented series arc has to be Harold Saxon. They even had Harold Saxon on a newspaper that the Abzorbaloff was holding back in series 2. By the way, it was 1590 not 1890 ;)

The Dog Walker

11 has been called "an ancient soul in a young man's body".

Very glad you like Rory. I know we already met him in episode 1 but I feel like we only get to know him here. He's definitely a fan favourite, and provides a really good contrast and resistance against the doctor. Next week is my top of the season (although I feel like I'm beginning to say that about a lot of episodes haha) so I can't wait till next week!

I agree Matt does bring something quite unique to the part. Perhaps one might precieve aspects from previous Doctors in the makeup. Maybe some influence of the 2nd Doctor in there. But definitely a great duo of actor and writer bringing us this impish, charming, kooky version of our hero. But also wrapped up in this imaginary friend iconography that has so affected this young woman's life. Moffat definitely has a soft spot for this idea. If you remember back, he did something quite similar with The Girl in the Fireplace story from series 2. Perhaps an unintentional nod in this episode. But it amuses me all the same, when The Doctor talks briefly about his reluctance to encounter Casanova. Of course David Tennant played Casanova before he played the Doctor. 10 even paused over a similar Casanova costume in The TARDIS when picking his now iconic suit and coat. In my head, had it been the right time and place in history, and they had bumped into Casanova. He of course would have been played by Tennant and they would have had one or two side ways glances. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

I couldn't really see much of it, but I peered at it intently 😅

xjuliettex

I'm glad to know that! He seems lovely!

xjuliettex

Honestly, I can see how that suits. There's something very different about him, compared to 10. Not that he's a different person. He's just DIFFERENT! I can't explain it!

xjuliettex

Yes!! Rory is delightful! I really like him. He's a good chap!

The Dog Walker

Each new Doctor builds on the foundation of the past Doctors and brings a new interpretation of who the Doctor is. It will happen again with Capaldi...who in my opinion might not be my favorite but is the finest actor of them all.

Martin Holt

A while back, I was reading HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY while also watching this series. For some reason, my mind started casting the roles in the books from actors in DOCTOR WHO, and now in my imagination every character in HGTTG is a DW actor. Here's what I got: Arthur Dent: Arthur Darvill (Rory) Ford Prefect: David Tennant (Doctor10) Zaphod Beeblebrox: Matt Smith (Doctor11) Trillian: Michelle Ryan (Lady Christina, PLANET OF THE DEAD) Slartibartfast: Peter Capaldi (Caecilius, FIRES OF POMPEII) Fenchurch: Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) And many others. Does anyone else do this? My brain is lumpy sometimes.

Martin Holt

I have an odd love/hate with Doctor 11. Quite frankly, Matt Smith is not my favorite. He's perfectly fine, and there are moments where he shines - but I can see so many other moments that annoy me . On the other hand, the writing for Doctor 11 is at its peak. The best episodes of the entire NuWho run occur during Doctor 11's tenure. Any other opinions?

Michael

Just caught up on all your season 5 reactions, so relieved you're loving Eleven. Hands down my favourite Doctor, and Amy and Rory are absolute top tier!

Helen

rory really is a great character and it's fun to see a sort of "accidental" companion: the doctor didn't really choose him in the same way he picked amy (not to say the doctor doesn't appreciate him), and all three of them are aware rory is only there for amy. it adds some interesting conflict to the group you don't get to see when it's just the doctor plus one, yeah?

April

I love Rory. And I love the doctor popping out of that cake. Especially since it wasn’t the first one (he suggested he had gotten in the wrong one earlier) and I love the comments about the freezing girl who was supposed to to jump out of it 😂. And the consistent jokes of “I’m getting married in …______”

xjuliettex

I'll have to come back to this when I've said goodbye to him, so I can give him a fair chance, but I really like him so far!

xjuliettex

He's so different to Ten to me, but just as enjoyable! It's wild to me how I am SO SAD to say goodbye to a Doctor and then we get a new one in that I also adore. They really do pick wonderful actors!!

xjuliettex

Having Rory here is SO GOOD!!! I want to start a petition to have him a permanent companion 😄

xjuliettex

The cake was SO unexpected! I couldn't believe the Doctor just told Rory about the kiss in front of everyone?! I know he's an alien, but goodness.... He really is quite forward at times 🤣

Michael Champion

A few things to point out. The picture that you see on the library card was the first doctor from back in the 60's. When Amy say's shes from Osted, they are the government body that inspects schools in the UK. About Rory forgiving Amy, I think it may be due to the fact he is still a little shocked that Amy would be marrying him, so is very forging as he feels so lucky to have her.

TheAlfanator

Look at the sky after the Doctor fixes the rain. There's a crack in the clouds... It's very hard to spot and a lot of people tend to miss it.
