No that's a wig. In fact a good part of comics history has Lex Luthor with not only a wig, but not a great one. Thats also used in the first two Superman films. It's kind of canon for a good forty plus years of his comic history. Even Smallville has Little Lex with his Mop of curly hair before the first meteor shower. Lex is extremely obsessive, and the two primary obsessions in media are Superman followed closely by Lois (both as spurned lover and for her exposure of his real character). And it's really obvious why he is now more obsessed with Lois than Superman. Superman didn't beat and humiliate him. That was Lois, and humiliation is one of the worst things to set of Lex's most petty and cruel aspects. So that's all extremely accurate to almost the entire history of his character. Doomsday. Historically this isn't a rushed telling of Doomsday. Especially his first story for the character is that of a brutal unstoppable killer. No machinations, no plotting, just brute force, against anything in his way. So if you think he should have build up, he's not really the type of character you see the build up to. The primary build up was just him beating the crap out of a bunch of heroes as he got closer to Metropolis, that's something that this universe doesn't really have the option for. universe really doesn't have that option. Lex being more threatening, versus either of his two biggest previous long term portrayals. first being criminal mastermind, the other being a public business man/ politicians whose behind the scenes a major villain. Is likely where this character started, but this is him after years or being wrongfully imprisoned , and thus not messing around. But he very much is still plotting, and scheming something very much in his character. Obsession about family members taken away or turned from him. Very much in character. Lois having such a brutal reaction to Clark, even after knowing he isn't breathing, is her seeing his chest cavity ripped apart. Thats typically going to create a primal reaction. And his heart being removed isn't a shock. Lex literally tells the creature, too only return when he has his heart. And that's from the previous episode. Story wise, The Doomsday character has had two primary focuses, one is of course the shock of Superman dying, and meant to be dead. But it's a very small part, almost the prologue to that story. The real meat of the story has always been the impact it has on his family, and the people that step up to take up the slack. This is why Smallville which never did strong serial story telling, and the films, which by the very length aren't good platforms to explore the Doomsday storyline. This show is primarily a character driven drama, that does do character work better than any another aspect. It's the ideal live action format for the meat and potatoes of the Doomsday story, which really isn't that much about the creature itself. Now I generally don't like the doomsday story, because very few comic deaths last. Let alone last a long time. So it's a foregone conclusion that Superman is coming back. Thats a weakness. Here are the big ten for Superman villains not named Luthor. Brainiac, General Zod, Darkseid, Doomsday, Bizarro, Metallo, Parasite, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Toy Man, Mongul. The show has done Zod (in a way), Bizarro and Parasite. They are doing Luthor (one that they have faced many times previously pre events in the series). The other villain has been Inter Gang. Really out of the other big guns, Brainiac is the one I would like to see. But it's also one that live action has never done well. Either the alien form, or the smart tech guy, who eventually develops psionic powers. Mongol is an alien conquerer, they already dealt with an alien threat season to conquer Earth, so that doesn't really fly. Darksied is another alien conquerer, so that's also a no go. Mr. Mxyzptlk can do anything and can only be beat by getting him to say his name back words a rather silly character. Toy Man a man who creates toys that kill, not exactly who I would build a season on. And Metallo really just a guy/ robot powered by Kryptonite. Not a character that has been used for long term story telling. Doomsday is really the best option for a single motivation character, one that doesn't depend on backstory. And one that can link to using Luthor. A real Brainiac can also be used with Luthor, but its one that requires a lot more detail than simply a brutal killing machine, its also not one that is the easiest to visually make compelling, especially for a tv show.
