This show does a really good job of portraying some heavy subject matter and trauma. It definitely has cheesy and predictable moments but I think it has some important scenes that are really good for young adult viewers to see, particularly pertaining to sex. The only real similarity that it has to Heated Rivalry is both involve hockey and love stories, but totally different shows. I liked them both!

It's so interesting what shows people like and don't like. Of all the reactions that I've seen to this show, you are the first person that I've come across who didn't like it. Now I'm curious. It's been praised for how it handles trauma and heavy subject matter and that the leading men are not, possesive, manipulators like some men in other romantic roles in the genre. I guess it's all subjective. You mentioned that you didn't like Heated Rivalry, yet it won a record setting number of awards: The biggest haul came at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards, where Heated Rivalry won a record-setting 16 awards, including Best Drama Series, Best Lead Performer for Hudson Williams, Best Direction and Best Writing for Jacob Tierney, and the Cogeco Fund Audience Choice Award. It also won for cinematography, editing, music, sound and other craft categories. The 16 wins set a record for the most Canadian Screen Awards won by a production in a single year. Some of its other notable wins include: 🏆 TCA Awards — Program of the Year — announced just a few days ago. This is a particularly impressive one because the Television Critics Association chose it as the best overall television program of the year, not merely best romance or LGBTQ+ series. 🏆 Peabody Award — Entertainment — one of television's more prestigious honors, recognizing excellence and meaningful storytelling. 🏆 GLAAD Media Award — Outstanding New TV Series. 🏆 Television Academy Honors — the Television Academy recognized the series for programming that inspires social change. This isn't a competitive Emmy, but it is an official Television Academy honor. 🏆 Dorian Awards — Best TV Drama and Best LGBTQ TV Show. 🏆 ACTRA Toronto — Members' Choice Series Ensemble, plus François Arnaud won Outstanding Performance in TV at ACTRA Montreal. 🏆 Queerty Awards — Best TV Drama, with François Arnaud winning TV Performance. 🏆 Canadian Cinema Editors Award — Best Editing in TV Drama for episode 5, “I'll Believe in Anything.” 🏆 Multiple Webby Awards/People's Voice honors for the show's social-media campaign and fan engagement. Hudson Williams specifically won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Performer as Shane Hollander. And the TCA Program of the Year win on August 20 is a pretty big deal. Heated Rivalry was up against acclaimed shows including The Pitt, Pluribus, Industry and Widow's Bay, and the critics still selected Heated Rivalry as Program of the Year. Like I said, it's all subjective...

I love the reaction ❤️ but I do wanna say it’s a lot of judgment to detail…The show overall is greatttt and it’s based off a book from years ago they changed it around…the show shows trauma , love & and its fun to watch You are the first person I seen that says it’s boring 😂 just give it a chance 🩷
