You need to stop victim blaming. Women (or girls in Jessica's case. and for the rest of this comment, if I say girls/boys, I mean people around the character's age. ) should be allowed to get as drunk as they want without the fear of someone raping them. Men/boys are typically allowed to get as drunk as they want without fear and the blame should be fully on them if they do something to a drunk woman/girl. We live in a society where we blame women and girls for not keeping themselves safe and do barely anything to prevent men and boys from raping. Any sort of comments about how a woman/girl should have been more careful or less drunk etc just feeds into that, even if you say "I don't wanna be that guy". It's not the same as other crimes either (like having your wallet on display so getting it stolen) because there's no double standard there. Anyone who has their wallet on display has equal chances of being robbed as anyone else with their wallet on display. Men and boys can get blackout drunk or wear tight/minimal clothing and still have less chance of being raped than a sober, fully clothed woman/girl. Expecting women to never have the same freedom their male counterparts have because it puts them more in danger is ridiculous. Sure, in Jessica's case you can see it as a safeguarding issue, but that doesn't mean she deserved to be raped or brought it on herself. It's also a safeguarding issue for every other teen drinking and getting blackout drunk at that party. I'm sorry that this comment is so long, but I really hope you read this and understand why people get frustrated with you saying these things.
