I think Dee’s mom and Avon knew this was a possibility but they weren’t actively involved in the murder like Stringer was. Last episode while Avon and Stringer were talking on the phone… Avon says something to the extent of “I’ve been fair to him (Dee)”… And Stringer replies with “Yeah, too fair”. The exchange implies that they’re both losing patience with Dee. Stringer more so than Avon. Also in this episode, Dee’s mom is trying to tell Dee something while talking to him on the phone, but he cuts her off. I think she was trying to warn him. Then they have the moment where they touch the glass and she starts crying. I think it’s because she knows what’s going to happen if Dee doesn’t start acting right. Then there’s the look Avon and Dee exchanged in the hallway. Avon and Dee’s mom didn’t order the hit per se….but they definitely knew it could come down to this. I do believe they genuinely loved Dee and were trying to protect him but Dee (justifiably) didn’t wanna play their game anymore. Also… Stringer has wanted Dee dead for a while. Remember last season when Dee called out Stringer for ordering the hit on Wallace. Ever since then… Dee has been on Stringer’s hit list. 😔
