the book goes more into the world building, they cut out a lot of stuff to make the run time shorter and focus solely on R and Julie. the boneys in the book are the rulers of the zombie society and control how they act, a parallel to Julie’s dad. We get to spend a lot more time with R, Julie, and Nora inside the encampment also with R relearning how to be human. There’s a second book which I believe focuses on them rebuilding the world and their relationship together but I never read it
