In this universe to become a vampire, a victim has to be drained almost to the point of death, then they have to drink some of the vampire’s blood. Just getting bit won’t do it.

I gave the Episode an 8 which may be too high but based on the first season and the first 7 episodes this was by far my favorite. The first two were 6-7 range so I felt that an 8 was ok. If i did 1/2 maybe it would be a 7 1/2

It’s easy to miss. It was in the first episode when Buffy was yelling at Giles after she sees the body in the locker room. She calls it a whole big sucking thing and says mostly they are just gonna kill ya. I agree it’s the best episode at this point. But I can’t go higher than seven because I know how good the best episodes of this show are.

Since you mentioned the Angel spin-off, will you be watching it ? We'll let you know when to start :-)

GeekedOutNation

Yea definitely, If he is established well enough and you all want me to see it I will check or out when I need too.

I concur with Karissa. I was generous and gave it a 7 because all you have seen is season 1, but compared to the other seasons 7 is high for this one. (For comparison my other rankings would be: 1.01 = 7/8, 1.02 = 6; 1.03 = 6; 1.04 = 2; 1.05 = 5; 1.06 = 5/6.)

It’s a 7 for me. As good as the first 3 episodes.

I think you were confused. Buffy didn’t say she invited Angel after she knew what he was. She says “ I invited him into my home, and even after I knew what he was I didn’t do anything about it “. Meaning she didn’t try to slay him, as it is her duty, after she found out he was a vampire.

Fun fact: Buffy and Angel {the actors} ate stuff give them bad breath as a sort of bad breath cantest for their on screen first kiss.

Good reaction, you figured it out just beforehand - but what was a big surprise was the soul. The curse of the soul does make Angel a very interesting character. But him and Buffy!! - he's a bit older you said! yup, about 240 ( turned around the age that the actor is, but I think his age when turned is mentioned somewhere sometime, so won't actually say now) - and Buffy is 16. Ugh it's creepy. Whereas for Buffy it's pretty natural to crush on a handsome young adult man, teenagers always think they are adults already.

Sorry, don't know where else to ask this: Did you ever realize that Vampire Darla is now Dexter's girlfriend? (and in the same vein, that Chuck's Harry Tang is Dexter's lab partner?)

Megan Saunders

The part you missed about her saying she invited him in after she knew who and what Angel was isn't what you might think. She meant that she invited him in, but then after she found out he was a vampire, she didn't do anything about it, which meant he could come into her home anytime he wanted.

Buffy also explained the rules for becoming a vampire in the first episode - the vampire has to suck the victim's blood, and then the victim has to suck the vampire's blood. In Mrs. Summers' case, Darla sucked some of her blood, but Mrs. Summers never drank Darla's blood, and Darla didn't take enough blood to kill her outright.
