The area where everyone lives is the undercity, which was what was closed off to prevent it from dying, too. The air quality is still awful, though, because it's a closed system. That's why the couple was desperate to get somewhere else where they believed the air was cleaner--because she was pregnant. The Macra are a Classic Who monster, I believe. This season is probably my favorite of the David Tennant era, and Martha is pretty badass.

This season is still at odds with me, it's my least favorite season but has some of my favorite episodes.

Oh me too. It's funny - some all time favourite episodes in a season that doesn't quite fly. Aside from a few key episodes I'm pretty much treading water til seasons 4 and 5 at this point. On a rewatch, I think seasons 2 and 3 really haven't aged as well as the first season (despite it's crappy effects).

Some people get freaked out by criticisms of the show - that's normal, for Doctor Who fans. The fandom exists in a state of permanent civil war :P

I loved Season 3! It had my favorite companion character development and several of my favorite episodes.

I liked some episodes - but the season arc didn't hang together as well for me as in other seasons. But man, the good episodes are really good.
