Love that you're doing this one. So funny and sweet and Gillian Anderson is a goddess who walks among us. How she can play both this an Margaret Thatcher in the same year and be totally convincing as both is amazing.

I haven’t seen anyone else react to this show, so I’m really glad your doing it. It’s smart and hilarious and also very deep and emotional at times.

Zack Meaney

Yes, they are in their last 2 years of high-school

Loooove this show! You’re in for a treat with this one!

So glad you're doing the show! The British school system is different from the American system, but yes, if you think of them being in their last 2 years of high school that's the right idea. The bathrooms we saw are in a separate ancient building on the school grounds and are no longer in use. In his opening speech, the headmaster told everyone to stay away from the building because of asbestos.

One additional fun fact: The actor who plays Otis had, as a child 8 years earlier, played the title role in the wonderful movie Hugo.

This is also not a super realistic depiction of British high school either. The lack of uniforms, the letterman jackets and other things are apparently more American. (I'm American so I'm just trying to recall what I've read) It's kind of a blend of American and British. I agree that this kind of show doesn't need episode grades. It's more about the experience.

Yes, the show's creators admit to having given it a not-quite-real sort of setting: characters have modern smartphones but otherwise the cars and decor tend to look a couple of decades earlier; the school mixes UK and American elements; the curriculum mixes extreme openness about sex with a stereotypical repressive headmaster from the 1960s; and so on.
