This is one of my favorite episodes. Partly because in this case, as a gay man of a certain age with a tendency toward self-consciousness, I identified with Mitchell. And the idea that people can surprise you, that maybe the barrier you built up with a family member may be partly your own doing... it meant a lot. And you're absolutely right! Nathan Lane, who plays Pepper, provided the voice of Timon in The Lion King. At that time, he specialized in that sort of humorous high-energy character.

You are correct that multiple Tony Award winner and Broadway legend Nathan Lane also voiced Timon. He's in a lot. You're likely to start noticing him in a lot of things now that you know who he is.

Picking up on the Nathan Lane moment, if you are ever in the mood for a movie reaction, def. recommend "The Birdcage" with Robin William! Hilarious but touching/with a message, I think you'd like it (if you haven't already seen it!).

Chuck Bass

Realizing that Peper aka Nathan Lane played Timon was a magical experience. I watched these episodes of modern family years ago and I never made that connection. I now know that Nathan Lane's voice is iconic. He played in every single one of my childhood favorite movies.
