You're absolutely right about the screwdriver. River Song has it in the Silence of the Library 2 parter, I believe she also mentions Darillium in that episode too as the last place they met.

You should rewatch Silence in the Library now that you’ve seen this one. It’s honestly heartbreaking. Such good writing. And acting.

River Song: “Funny thing is, this means you've always known how I was going to die. All the time we've been together, you knew I was coming here. The last time I saw you, the real you, the future you, I mean, you turned up on my doorstep, with a new haircut and a suit. You took me to Darillium to see the Singing Towers. What a night that was. The Towers sang, and you cried... You wouldn't tell me why, but I suppose you knew it was time. My time. Time to come to the library. You even gave me your screwdriver. That should have been a clue.“

Yes to the screwdriver, he even subtly scans her. It brings the whole thing full circle in a good but sad way. I love River.

I agree with the other comment that you should do a reaction to Silence in the Library again. It'll be such an amazing watch.

Agreed! Now is the time to rewatch that season 4 two parter, River's first episodes. It punches well at the time, but punches even harder now that it has increased meaning. I see what you are saying about The Doctor being older. But technically any one that comes after, is both older and made older by that lived experience. Perhaps mildly fortuitous that Capaldi is an older actor, giving the character the outer appearance of age as well.

Alex and Peter has such great chemistry, absolutely on fire! Probably my favorite River/Doctor dynamic.
