And draft 1 is done.

If you have thoughts on the book, I welcome them. Honestly, unless it’s going to be mindless bashing of it. There are no bad comments.

This was an interesting ride for me. It’s the first book in this series not fully discovery written, and the first time I did so with a story’s treatment, instead of an actual outline. I have to say that for this story, it worked well. It kept me ‘on track’ while letting the story go where it needed to go.

Having mostly left comments as I wrote, I don’t really have much to add. Despite the ‘1st draftiness’ of the book, I’m pleased with it. Draft 2 should resolve most of the issues I’ve forgotten about. I’m ultimately surprised at how ‘short’ this draft is, not even passing 200k words. Bottom Rung, the 1st and shortest to date, is 211k words. Book 2 and 3 are beyond 300k words each. I expect the book to be longer than book 1, once I’m done draft 2, but I’m curious where it will fall compared to the other 2.

I’m already writing draft 2, drop by the streak if you want to glance at it.

The posting of the chapters will start on January 13th, for the Avid Reader Tier, then a week later for the tier below that, and so on. On March 3rd, the chapters will start posting on Royal Road. For those with an interest, I will also post my Read and Corrects of the chapters on Youtube(@TheTigerWrites) on a similar schedule as RR. I will be posting chapters on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

This the buffer should make it that I won’t have to change the posting schedule, as I had to for draft one.

I hope to see you then in the comments, because I will still welcome them.

It has taken me a while to fully process the first draft and organize my thoughts,I apologize for the long delay. In terms of the overall story, it's definitely a break from the first trilogy in terms of pacing and layout but I loved it, each town/zone had some form of development and had its own little flavor. I deeply appreciated that you left in the in-between sections as well and the authors notes really helped with seeing where the story was going as it was laid out. This book might land differently among people though as Tibs has obviously grown, there are still pieces of the old Tibs there, it's hard to change the full core of a person but he's obviously been through a lot of trauma and still blames himself for a lot of it. From my perspective, this book has the 'fastest' emotional character growth for Tibs of the books so far. A lot of that is probably due to us seeing the time skips through Tibs eyes as time seems to become more of a nebulous concept for him in this book. I personally really enjoy all of the character interactions and connections Tibs makes, and tries to not make but still does, because he has that roguish charm and general want to help others even when it might be a bad idea. I will note that it's interesting to see how Tibs handles his own inner turmoils versus how he helps other through theirs. As a small aside I think a chapter/blurb where Tibs works through some of his issues after potentially having helped someone with something similar would be a nice nod as he has the growth but sometimes it's off screen (his sudden willingness to use fever after immense disgust and revolution toward it). I appreciate Tibs actually heeding others advice when it comes to his own self loathing/harm and he remembers it even when he gives into the urge of the elements later. The Alistar fight went fantastically, from the dialogue to how it unfurled. Having some minor characters resurface is a nice touch as well and looking forward to potentially seeing some of them again at a later date. I wonder are you going to keep the scene where Tibs gets injured while traveling with Jeremy? If you, do you might be able to have Tibs have a self loathing discussion with Jeremy as the other tries to help Tibs with his wound. Excited to see how the second draft fills out.

thank you for the comment. in regards to the "getting hurt while Jeremy is there" do you mean when he gets hurts as part of fighting the bandits early in the book, or when he burns his hand over and over as punishement for what he did ?
