Okay, I didn’t expect that SO MANY new people would come to me from this project, and no matter how many times I say “I’m doing everything for free” and “we’re just here for fun,” this kind of… influx, even if "temporary" subscribers allow me to not just “survive” for a while.

And besides the shock, for the second day now I can’t stop thinking… Am I doing everything right?

Do I need to stop making animations as "comissions" so that I can bring to life the ideas of people who can’t do it themselves and therefore pay money so that I can do it? Should I stop making small animations and focus on big projects? Do I need to put some content behind a paywall?

Or should I keep moving in the direction I’m moving in order to preserve myself and not turn into someone who “does it only for the money”? Because, to be CRYSTALLY HONEST, sometimes i want to dream of a "better life" (we all do i think)

At the same time, I understand that the answer to all of this is one thing — to work much more than I currently do. This has always been and will always be the answer. To be able to create models, short animations, and large projects, and at the same time have the money to pay for sound, because animations without sound have been a dead end for a long time now.

What else would I like to say? Thank you to the new people who have come to see what we’ve done — even if you’re not here for long, I’m still glad to see you. And a huge thank you to those who have been with me all this time. This delay before publication has always been my way of saying “thank you,” not a way to make money, because if it weren’t for you, I would still be making short animations once a month or two, because I would keep living at work.

A bit of both isn't a bad thing. I think your favourite works of mine are ones you've put passion into creating because they feature your own characters, sometimes even exclusively. At the same time, in a world where money is sort of required to survive, I don't think many would begrudge you for wanting to earn a little on the side. It's all a balance.

I’ll just explain it this way: as someone who has NEVER HAD MONEY, I’ve never had the opportunity to subscribe and watch the games/comics/animations I wanted. I’ve always loved those who put their work out in the open, even if it’s only after a year, and I’ve always wanted to be someone who does it for fun. But if I said that when I see their subscription numbers and I DON’T ENVY them, I’d be lying.

I second what Finn said. And I also understand your point. As an aside, but also related, I just increased my subscription to you. I hope it will help you pursue your interests, too, and also let you know your work and effort and appreciated. Keep up the excelent work. I started following you because of your tauren animations (I won't lie there :P) but honestly, the works you do with passion are just too good, tauren or not involved.

We all dream of being something bigger, it's just a matter of what we do with that feeling; let it fester and build resentment, or use it as a motivating factor. If doing commissioned work gives you the breathing room to let you climb towards that dream, to indulge in what you've wanted to, there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone needs downtime and things that make them happy. Just don't compromise on doing what you love, what makes you you is as important as that dream you're chasing.

Kipler

Yes, I like what you’re saying, thank you. This helps reduce stress levels and think in a more pleasant direction :]

Ive been following your work for years now and think you're very talented. I say this because if having a more aggressive monetization strategy would allow you to spend more time working on animations, I would understand and encourage you to pursue it. I think you deserve it. I dont have thoughts on the small personal animations vs big projects however. Good luck with however you decide to move forward ❤️

I think you're in a good position to continue on with what you're doing because you have a good group of people who would like to support you because they like to see you improve! I think maybe at some point you won't have to worry too much about commissions and you can sustain yourself off the support you're getting! I think if you keep trying new things like you are doing and pushing yourself to do new things, you'll attract far more people and build trust with those still here to keep supporting your creative endeavors!

I have been a fan of your work for years now and I have often wished you would do bigger projects, much longer vids. I would be *very* willing to pay for your quality work.

Spikes

For bigger projects pushing forward what you enjoy doing, it wouldn't hurt to try experimenting with small snippets of projects to larger ambitious ones. Just don't burn yourself out and feel like you gotta make stuff to make stuff when you could make it what you want as well! Keep up the amazing work!

Cooper

Your work is fantastic and you deserve the influx of subscribers

Stoomper

honestly preserve yourself it's the most important or you'll burnout

I've never commented before, but after reading your sincere words, I felt I needed to speak up. I really love your animations, and whatever you decide to do going forward, I'll be here. I just hope you'll take better care of yourself, instead of burning yourself out with "work much more." Make what you want, as freely as you can. Keep up the amazing work.

Do what you love and want to do; this is the only way to maintain long-term commitment before you become exhausted or even bored. While that's true, I also believe most people are realistic and must consider investing their limited funds appropriately. For example, I like Tauren, Orc, and Kultiran (and even more so, bald heads and bellies), and I joined because of these contents. If the contents change, I might start to reconsider continuing. However, this is a natural occurrence; you can't please everyone. Instead of creating work you don't like, just focus on projects you truly enjoy with balance between income and fun.

I'll say what I always say: I understand wanting to make others happy, but at the end of the day, you must do what you must, for you. Caring for the needs of others and neglecting your own will eventually wear down on you, and a person of your talent, imagination and not to mention kindness doesn't deserve that. I feel the majority of us would still be here even if you stopped commissions entirely and focused on yourself and your projects, because we support _you._ Big projects, small projects, I know I'm glad to see anything you make regardless of scale. As for the paywall, you do tend to release your work to the public eventually, so no one is deprived forever, but I think that maybe widening that window may draw in more revenue, because let's face it, generosity alone won't put food on the table and a roof over your head. The more comfortable you are, the better your output will become. Just something to think about.

I’m seeing more and more that people absolutely don’t mind me coming up with “my own” ideas. This... It really inspires me. If it really works like that, it changes a lot.

Kipler

It's true. It’s hard to please everyone. Especially considering that I really love doing things that no one has ever done before. Rare races. Models, etc.

Kipler

You have no idea how HARD it is for my brain to accept such a thought. It’s something beyond the bounds of what’s good, and I’m not used to that XD

Lentejota/Kuraipo

I haven't really became a paid patreon; but from a distance I've seen your work is astonishing. I loved your animations going further than simply characters pumping in and out. The micro expressions and details are what makes it look something else. If you wanna give the next step, do whatever it takes, man. We'll always be here for you. And I'll try to help to come pass by from time to time. Thanks for opening up.

Lentejota/Kuraipo

Also, omg I really love your sona!!! He looks so cute, like a big gentle guy. I've tried to find more art of him. Could you please please PLEASE make a compilation of the renders you have of him??? 🥺🥺🥺🥺🙏

Lentejota/Kuraipo

And yes again I really love your animations!!! You are even inspiring me to do the jump to 3D (although I give up everytime I say it hahahah), but yes! I wish I could be like you some day man 👉👈

CassTheBarbarian

I love your work, you are the most talented creater in my mind, and I think I have to support you as much as i can do sometimes.

CassTheBarbarian

BTW, would you consider that making some more animation of Durge?

Kipler

It’s in the plans; I’ll be doing it in a couple of animations.

Zachary Stalling
