[News] Frame Interpolation After Upscaling (Patreon)

In the next update, the [After upscale] option will be restored to enable video frame interpolation after upscaling.

This was originally an early feature, but it was disabled due to bugs. Since then, it has been requested multiple times and has now been restored as part of the maintenance update.

Do note that this will increase the VRAM requirement of frame interpolation.

Hello Aaron, i think is better the frame interpolation before the upscale ... But what would be the reason to do the frame interpolation before the upscale? THX :)

You mean "what would be the reason to do the frame interpolation AFTER the upscale"? Right? It could make the interpolated frames better by providing higher quality frames to the interpolation engine

Interpolation after upscale could deliver better quality, only downside is the increase d vram usage

Why do you want to upscale interpolated Frames? The time to do so scales with the number of Frames. So if you go from 20FPS to 60FPS you must upscale 3x the Frames. If the Frames are not there to begin with i.e. in your source material then you only waste time upscaling. True you need more time interpolating larger frames, but the time for interpolating frames is much less then upscale from what i have seen.
