Recently I been working on PSD(Photoshop Document) processing, this feature is requested(and paid) by a supporter.

It really takes me a lot effort to implement this, because I'm not very familiar with this format, I already finishedthe pre-processing and assemble part. Now I'm working on the scaling part. It's gonna be available in the beta ver a few days later.

The GUI will be able to automatically disassemble PSD, upscale the layers, then assemble the layers back to a new PSD file. The only manual part is you need to install GIMP and tell the GUI where you installed GIMP.

And I'm planning to fix the hard drive wear out problem(caused by constantly writing video frames to the hard drive), I already found a solution, gonna try to implement that when I finished this PSD stuff.

"And I'm planning to fix the drive wear out problem" Oh thank goodness I thought my GPU was going out.

edited:"fix the hard drive wear out". English is not my first Language, next time you saw error like this just ignore it or tell me what's wrong straightforwardly

When I am upscaling videos with the newer versions my computer will either sometimes freeze or the screen will go white and then restart my PC. It would even happen when I had no other programs running. I thought something was wrong GPU but then you mentioned, "And I'm planning to fix the hard drive wear out problem" so now I know it's a problem with the program. This never happened with the older versions either. I sometimes even let it run hours with no issues.

Aaron Feng

Are you using NCNN-Vulkan engines? They are not very stable, and I also encountered those problem you mentioned in the comment(except the restart one) before.

Aaron Feng

Update your GPU driver to the latest version might fix the problem, or you can just switch to other engines like waifu2x-caffe or Anime4k.

Aaron Feng

These crashes might be caused by outdated GPU driver. I often encountered these crashes back when I was using an old thinkpad with AMD RX 550 GPU, now I'm using RTX 3060 and I never encounter these crashes again.

Aaron Feng

Or it might be caused by hardware encoder? You can turn that off if switch engine and update driver didn't fix the problem.

BlueDragonKaiser

I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080ti Founders Edition. Updated it to the latest drivers the other day and still had problems yesterday. I was using the RealSR-ncnn-vulkan engine. I was able to convert one video but the other gave me trouble. It happens more often when I try to watch the videos I converted when they're done. That's never happened before. Like I said these problems never occurred in previous versions.

Aaron Feng

"It happens more often when I try to watch the videos I converted when they're done."

Aaron Feng

I think this is caused by the hardware encoder, you should go to the video settings and turn that off

Aaron Feng

And could you describe it more clearly, did you try to open the video when GUI is assembling it? Or the assembling is done, and your PC just crashed whrn watching the video? That's weird.

BlueDragonKaiser

Yeah it happens when it's done converting. I go into the folder and my PC will just freeze and I have to restart it manually. I'm going to do what you suggested and turn off the hardware accelerator to see if that helps.

Aaron Feng

Ah, so it freeze when you open the folder? That's definitely not GUIs problem, probably there is something wrong with your hard drive.

Aaron Feng

Maybe that part of your hard drive is corrupted, windows will freeze when you try to access corrupted hard drive "block", I saw this before.

BlueDragonKaiser

I never got back to you but I did find that unchecking the HardWare Encoder did help a lot. No issues so far.
