[Oracle] frowns. “What does it matter to you whether I would’ve been interested in you or not?”

Az pushes a palm of berries into their mouth. “Mhm.” It’s the best answer they can give.

“You’re insufferable.”

They wink.

It’s so easy to go back to jokes. To avoid answering. They have been doing it all their life. And now, like a fool, they can’t help but want [Oracle] to dig deeper and figure them out. If they can’t say it, then [Oracle] could find the answer themselves, and then Az wouldn’t need to chew on the truth that leaves a rotting taste in their mouth.
