Back Sheathed Swords (Elements Weapons Summer!) (Patreon)
Content
Hello! Hope you had a great weekend.
Guess what time it is? It's time for a... 🌞 summer event-theme! 😎
There's a lot of requests and suggestions for more weapons and armor for the Elements series. So it gave me the idea for a themed summer event (like the Monster Summer we did last time).
In fact, this event will be the perfect companion to that one, as we arm our heroes for battle!
Every Monday for this June and July, I'll have a new Elements piece, specifically focusing on more variety for weapons/armor/accessories for combat. I have a big list of requests and suggestions from patrons, so I think that this will be a really useful one!
After the event's finished with a big collection, I'll compile them into the next expansion pack for Elements, and this time it'll be available as a patron pack (like we've done with other patron-event-collections).
Huzzah! So let's get started with the first release:
Today I have some sheathed swords. These go on the "back extra" layer:
This set includes two different sword/sheath lengths, and a bunch of variants for each one: the sheath itself comes in brown or black, and then there's 4 sword-color variants.
The sword-handle colors match the swords from the original Elements set (blue/wood/gold tiers, (and then I added another red one too to these)).
Each sheath also has a version without the swords, so you can have your character sheathe/unsheathe his equipped weapon!
(Note: if you're using these in the Elements Generator: the previews in the generator use the south-facing idle frame (hence the invisible tails in the image too), so for these pieces the preview colors show darker because it's the "behind-layer").

Reminder: If your browser doesn't like the taste of the .zip file, force-feed it with a copy-paste into the URL bar.
NOTE:
The "attack" animation for the swords-in-sheath keeps the sword in place.
I thought about using the empty sheath for these specific animation frames, but decided against it for a number of reasons: primarily so that the sword handle wouldn't "disappear" if that animation is used for an offhand or secondary weapon or tool.
With the empty-sheathes as their own standalone pieces instead of part of the animation, there's a lot more flexibility for creating animation-states based on your game's needs, though you might need to rearrange the sheets a little bit.
I think it's a worthwhile tradeoff in order to maximize the overall useability of this set.
And that's it for today.
I'll be back later in the week with something new, and then next Monday with another elements weapon. See you soon.
Thanks for everything! I love you.
