Labor Day Update (+Previews) (Patreon)
Content
TLDR: No release today to honor Labor Day, only some WIP screenshots; I'll be back later in the week with new downloads.
If you're sticking around to read this post anyway, here's what I'm working on this week:
Elements parts!
I've got a little list of patron-requested parts in my backlog that I'm working through, particularly one that will make sense to release with this theme.
Here's one of the cool upcoming parts that I plan to have done for this week:
Based on the patron request for Mech arms which has been on my todo list for a while, I got this idea to maximize the concept after making the vine whip weapon overlay. With color palette swaps I think that this part has a lot of potential for character designs!
I also have these parts planned, some from patron requests, that I need to animate and export:
(just a quick screenshot of the designs in my working file)
Then, considering all of this together (with this stuff + the summer of weapons and the farm tools week releases and the zombie pieces from last year), there's enough to compile into a third full-sized character expansion pack, 💪 with a serendipitous theme based around monster parts and action gameplay!
So that's the plan for the next couple of weeks, to finish up this set so we can move on into the new season.
Oh, yeah, and... the world map. 🗺️
I have been slowly building towards that long-promised World Map ultimate remastered/compilation tileset. I know I promised it to be our summer project, and I know it'll be especially useful to some projects waiting for it (it's also a personal priority for me: because it'll be released for both color styles, it'll work as a capstone to the TF tileset series too while also being a roadmap for upcoming tileset themes for Elements ).
But the Elements stuff has taken priority recently because they're more represented in the request threads. So following the lead of the patron requests, it makes more sense to finish up this current batch, then we can compile them as the third Character Expansion set.
The most complicated part of the overworld map is the terrain autotiles, and now that I have figured out the base form of them (you saw yhem in the preview image from last week's miniships release) I anticipate the rest of the tileset going a little smoother now. I'm hoping that it'll be something that I can pull together fairly cleanly over 3-4 days of jam-style focus, so I just need to find a good week sometime in the upcoming month to get that done.
Hope that makes sense!
Okay, thanks for everything. Have a wonderful Labor Day, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to rest, and I'll see you on Friday with something new to download.
Love ya.
