Hello! I've got a bunch of new tiles for you today.

I've released similar sets like this before on patreon, In fact I've been circling around this project for a long time, and I keep running into the same complications... It might be hard to believe: but I've spent most of the past week on this set, even though it uses textures that I've made in previous releases. It's the structure, man...

Honestly, in some ways, I've been struggling with this set for years now. I've spent waaaaaaaay too time fighting with autotiles (specifically the limitations of the RPGMaker-system, not in-itself, but in how that conflicts with full-autotiles that would be used in everything else). It's not the first time, this problem is my time-eating arch-nemesis, it seems, and it won't be the last, so I'll spare you more of the rant.

So: I was hoping to have more than terrain for today (I need to revisit the mountains and the trees, to make them a bit more flexible and user-friendly, before they're good enough to include in the final remastered tileset). (I was trying to use those mountain tiles for the preview map above and it was rough! They look good but as a tileset, they are much more complicated and inconsistent than they should be...) But I didn't even get to them yet, because my focus has been on the ocean water and terrain-border stuff... 😅 Are these finally good enough to move on? Hopefully...

For now, I hope these are useful for you.

Okay, here are the downloads:

Download - Master Sheet:

Overworld Ocean Water and Terrain - Master Tileset (.png)

Downloads - RPGMaker:

Overworld TileA1 (Water) - 100%

Overworld TileA2 (Terrain) - 100%

Overworld TileA1 (Water) - 200% (VX)

Overworld TileA2 (Terrain) - 200% (VX)

Overworld TileA1 (Water) - 300% (MV/MZ)

Overworld TileA2 (Terrain) - 300% (MV/MZ)

My next plan for this set, as I mentioned above, is to build out all of the object-layer stuff. Mountains and trees are next on my list, and HOPEFULLY that will go quickly because I have some really strong existing tiles to build on. If that works out, then ideally I can move right into more biome-specific stuff and have a really big tileset for the next one. But we'll see... idk how realistic that would be. They could get really complicated. 🤣

I also need make some extra asset posts to schedule for next week because I'll be away for the first week of October. I need to double-up ahead of time so we don't miss releases while I'm gone. So idk... might be smaller ones.😪 I don't want to promise too much!

But however much I get done, I'll be back on Friday with something. Looks like that'll be the last release for the month.

Anyways, that's it for today.

Thanks for everything. Have a great week. I love you.

The new overworld tiles are awesome! I tried them out on a map tonight, and they look great. However, even though I’ve been using them for a while, I find that the mountain tiles aren’t very easy to work with. I still can’t always create the outlines I want easily. I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels this way—have you gotten any other feedback about the mountains? Do you think a revised, simplified, or other version of these mountains might be possible down the road? Here’s an example of a world map I made with them, but I’m really struggling :D - Screenshot of a part of the map: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OVp4RmdM6vhiAhpfPIRnX3V-TyMnWVwl/view?usp=sharing - Video with my Mode 7 gameplay: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F-hgtXypIiUzFqxzHCUCSQ9cXtAWrdHs/view?usp=sharing

Also your map looks really cool! Really sick, got me pumped to get going with the rest of this set, thanks!

Wow, I've just finished creating a procedural map generator with your older sheet but this is so much cleaner! Thank you!

Oh, sorry, I read too fast and missed a part :P And thank you for your work! Your new creations inspire me and are helping me more and more with my JRPG project—it's a graphic style I'm particularly fond of.

Thanks for these, they are great. Your overworld tiles were my first introduction to your work. I really enjoy your style.
