Hello! This is a special thread about the upcoming Animated NPCS Bonus Pack.

First, I'm going to re-paste the description from the previous update about this set:

 ---

I'm imagining a collection of about 20 NPCs, doing different specialize actions. Some might be existing NPCs, some might be new characters-- notably, they'd use unique animations so that they can bring extra life to your game world.

We'll have characters sweeping, cleaning, working with tools, cutting hedges, singing, dancing, playing instruments, etc --

For a good example of what I have in mind, look at these previously-released sets: NPC Actions 1and NPC Actions 2 (I'll probably throw these into the pack as well, why not).

This set will be freely available as an incentive to patrons, and I'll probably also put it up for sale to a general audience. Similar to the arrangement that we have for the Ruined Dungeons and Beast Tribe packs.

---

Here are some ideas that I've been brainstorming:

Animations for these NPCs: chef cooking, maid dusting, butler with a tray of food

NPCs gardening: raking dirt, hedge-clipping, kneeling in a flower-bed, etc

Street musicians, tavern musicians, bards playing instruments

Singers and Dancers

People reading books

Tool-workers: Carpenters, etc

Soldiers sparring, or cleaning/sharpening weapons

Guards holding banners/fags

Guys carrying boxes or barrels

Snake charmer??

Children playing (ideas for this?)

If you have ideas, suggestions, or requests please share them in this thread. I'll be referring to your ideas as I build this pack.

I'll probably start on these animations sometime over the next couple of days, and do a little at a time for the next couple of weeks so we can have a release in early April.

OH and one more thing!!!

I noticed on twitter that National Puppy Day is trending. So I took some pictures of Human the Dog for you! It's a nice sunny day here, and he was happy to sit in the sun for a quick photo-shoot. LOL

--

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Thanks!

Both human and other races NPCs please! (Elf/dwarf expansion and beast tribes)

Alex Papp

Since we have the horses, might be cool to have an NPC brushing a horse.

Troy Hepfner

We already have someone drinking from a mug. How about someone eating at a table? And some bar maids, one carrying a serving tray that walks from table to table, another wiping down a table, and another pouring drinks.

Troy Hepfner

Other ideas: someone reading a book (flipping pages), a dwarf or miner with a pickaxe, a farmer with a shovel digging a hole, a juggler, a firebreather, a beggar, an adventurer sharpening their sword or knife, a fletcher making arrows, a traveler reading a map and looking around, someone cooking a pig over a fire (turning the crank that rotates it), and someone fixing a wagon wheel for a broken down wagon.

Caleb Ridgway

How about a fisherman casting a line/reeling in?

SuperAfroBoy

For kids playing, maybe bouncing a ball, kneeling down playing with toys on the ground, and playing with a doll?

The Beard

The Homer Simpson run on the ground in a circle animation and maybe a soldier crawling animation might be interesting haha.

Stephan Liennard

What about having praying/spellcasting for temples and the like?

k

I like the traveller with map idea! I'd like to see a mix of "town/village NPCs" and "NPCs the player can encounter in the wild"

Sarand

I want your dog in my game

Baz

we need a tavern brawl, 2 drunks punching

Strijdparel

Ooh, the Snake Charmer sounds awsome! I also really like the idea's sugested above, mainly an other Jugler who is not the Jester, a fire breather, the fisherman and a miner. I also have a few new sugestions: the bard with a lyre, a belly dancer, a woodchopper, the executioner swinging the axe, and a judge like character with a little hamer animation (to get order or to pass the verdict). Nice to see Human is having a great time!

Vaioui

I like your ideas. Here are some more: a Woodcutter with axe, miner with pickaxe, farmer farming or feeding livestock, shepherd (because we already have sheep and dogs), a hunter hunting with a bow, fisherman fishing.

Dash

you could also do some monster npcs. Like orcs unsheathing a weapon or practicing a target. maybe a cat person shooting arrows. A vampire drinking blood. A necromancer raising the dead. a doctor healing a patient. A dog chasing its tail. A dragon breathing fire. A alchemist mixing chemicals. BARDS. mages researching ancient artifacts. Gnomes working on a machine. A person making clothes. A thug tossing around his knife. Bats sleeping, spiders spinning web. chickens laying eggs.

Yougotachocolate

is that what the guy with the headband was doing? I thought it was some sort of sports drink.

Yougotachocolate

Personally I would like npc emotes and some more solider animations to make them more fleshed out .

The Pixel Crow

I was thinking maybe some RPG Staples - A Fisherman, a guy peeking out of a barrel, miners, swordsmen sparring with each other.

Mana Cloud

A mother cradling a baby. A bandit or thug flipping a coin. A pirate looking through a spyglass. A cloaked character raising his cloak to cover his face (maybe the vampire.) A detective or officer looking through a magnifying glass. A drunkard swinging a bottle about or taking a drink. Children sitting and playing a card game maybe? I know they are not NPC's but the ships sinking would be cool too. I could do this all day so I should probably stop

Derek DiCicco

I would love to see: -People eating -Interactions between people and animals -Boasts, such as soldiers flexing, a blacksmith showing off a new weapon, or a shopkeeper showing an item

Troy Hepfner

I like the idea of non-human NPCs. I think your orc, vampire, bat, and spider ideas are awesome! The tailor idea is good too. And I would love to see a dog chasing its tail!

Sundial Shark

Someone fishing off the piers you made for your general tileset. Someone sitting down and drinking a bottle of alcohol or eating. Idle animation of a girl flipping her hair and tapping her foot, waiting. Idle animation of a guy leaning against a wall with one leg and shrugging, waiting (or stare at their wrist-watch ocassionally for Future Fantasy?). I dunno, hard to think with that adorable pup serving as a giant distraction

Bramble Bear

Priest/Clerics holding holy symbols or incense burners would be nice.

HintonR

I'm not sure if I'm the only one doing this for RMMV, but what I ended doing for my project is using MV tilesets with VX characters. I felt that the proportions of using the smaller VX NPCs/Characters were more appropriate than having the HUGE MV Characters. This has led me not able to use the Blacksmith w/ Anvil and the Carts w/ Horses without heavily modifying them. As awesome as they are, I am hoping that the new NPCs can be stand-alone like the raking/chopping/sweeping ones. Otherwise, other ones that are essential for 'world diversity' is fine, it would just be nice to keep that as a consideration for those who mix VX and MV assets :) Thanks

Baz

that is interesting way of doing it. thx for sharing

Dungeonmind

How about a lab tech in future fantasy typing away at the computer or working in the laboratory using beakers and flasks.

Roy L. Cox

Patrons at a bar, pub, restaurant....basically, sitting or standing....facing a couple of directions....raising their mugs of ale, eating, etc....

Yougotachocolate

to extend my previous idea You could do the same thing with the soldiers with weapons|flags|etc as you did with the butler. and have other walking npc's holding weapons, maybe a lumberjack carrying a log, and more stuff like that. Also, people who are bartering, advertising their product, and writing down in a notepad/journal. There are many creative ideas requested.
