Hello!

Last week I put up this reward poll, so patrons can decide what I make as the reward for reaching the $3000 milestone.

It looks like the results are in: the next bonus release will be an expanded forest tileset.

The set will build on these forest tiles from last month, including the new grass texture and terrain tiles. The set will be based around two forest themes:  the Dark Woods and the Fairy Forest. Each theme will build on a different color variation of the terrain and tree tiles, and will also have a set of unique object-layer tiles.

---

I'm also working on the Steampunk expansion set. I ended up spending multiple days last week revamping the Train tiles-- so it will still likely be at least another two weeks before that set is finished (worth it imo for the gameplay possibilities the new set opens up for train areas!).

The plan is for the Steampunk set to be finished before this month is over. After that, I'm going to move immediately into working on this forest set, which will be my ongoing project for the next month.

And then when the forest set is released-- it will be time to dive head-first into the massive new character animation pack.

 ---

So... until I get started on this forest set, you'll have a few weeks to come up with ideas and suggestions. What do you want to see included in the Dark Woods and Fairy Forest tileset? Use this thread to share any ideas, inspirations, or image references-- I'll come back to this thread when I get going on that set.

In the meantime, I'm planning on putting together something from the regular request thread for a smaller release later in the week. See you then!

Thanks

A sword in a stone!!

Mushroom (red with white dots) houses!

OMGerm

Clearly we’re going to need a gigantic squirrel to populate these forests. I will die on this hill.

Altron6000

Gotsta have those mushroom houses with stovepipes, and other "embellishments". Maybe some other living quarters for other mystical beings. Also, Fairy circles, etc.

Vaioui

A cabin in the woods 😉

For dark forest I think some evil ent like trees with branches like hands would be cool, also a lot of spider web variations to trees and bushes. Possibly as a merger of dark fairy there could be some poisonous / thorny mushrooms and spores with a purple/green glowy theme

For fairy I think of a kind of hidden in plain sight, so color shifting plant life such as a normal tree turning blue / pink along with some glowing lights that float around

Pandappuccino

For the fairy forest, I would imagine fairy circles, whimsically curving foliage in shades of bright blue and purple, streams that shimmer like rainbows, and maybe some kind of mysterious statue or another sort of monument, something that seems like it's meant to honor someone or something that once protected the forest.

Any chance for some kind of day/night cycle? I can just see the fairy woods having a brightly colored night, and more basic day. Kind of like places in Xenoblade Chronicles 1?

A few ideas: Fairy Forest - Fairy Rings - Tree/Mushroom Houses - Elven Buildings/Ruins - Enchanted Springs - Oak/Willow Trees Dark Woods - Spiderwebs - Creepy/Gnarled Trees - Mushroom Houses (Same as Fairy Forest, only made from Redcap Mushrooms) - Dark Springs - Dark Elven Buildings/Ruins

Yougotachocolate

What if you had gnomes, but they were EVIL gnomes?

Junjo

yeah, houses made on nature would be great.

ZServ

Smol fairies, big ol mushrooms, eyes in the trees

abimi

mushrooms, potentially of the giant variety.

Mana Cloud

I think a fairy forest is a perfect setting for puzzles, so some puzzle assets would be great. Ideas: -Giant mushrooms that grow out of the ground and up into the air for bridging gaps or creating natural "elevators" -A large gate or door made of brambles or ivy that grows from the ground. -Knots in trees that can be pressed inward like switches. -and something to push around like a boulder but maybe a mushroom cap or a giant nut or something.

Stephan Liennard

Another idea: A great fairy fountain, complete with Great Fairy

Jessica Jones

How about Tree Houses for the Fairy Forest? Both big trees with doors in them and actual houses built into trees.

John .

A busted up old cottage and a wilted tree with an opening that can be used as a door

OMGerm

Gonna need some nuts for our squirrel pal.
