So happy you got to see this, Mary. Fun fact: the teenage boy cadet who is killed is Ike Eisenmann who is best known for the “Witch Mountain” movies. I highly recommend checking them out. They’re great!

This is one of my favorite movies. I love Star Trek 2. also, this movie is actually a sequel to an episode of the original show, the episode is called "Space Seed" it's in season one it's where they meet Khan for the first time.

Yes Mary if you've seen the sequels you know Spock returns. But for the die-hard fans who first saw the movie in theaters many were literally weeping in their seats when Spock performed his heroic act of sacrifice "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one". and to Kirk "I will and always will be your friend." And in eulogy, Kirk says "Of all the souls I've ever met iin my travels he was the most ... human" Tears in the seats! Spock always tried to hide any semblance of human emotion. Leonard Nimoy wanted to move on to to other roles and retire the Spock character. It was only later he agreed to resurrecting the role due to popular demand and his own desire to live longer and prosper.

Great to see you Mary reacting to few more Star Trek movies. It's obvious you are coming as a fan of Star Wars. That's OK! The JJ Abrams / Chris Pine Star Trek trilogy was designed to bring in new generation of fans, especially targeting Star Wars fans. Here are some common comparison examples of the two: - Star Wars: rock 'n roll Star Trek: classical music - Star Wars: cool Star Trek: cerebral - Star Wars: opera in space Star Trek: exploration, modern allegories - Star Wars: galaxy far away Star Trek: aspiring future for humans My tidbits after viewing your reaction (full length): * It was quoted that Leonard Nimoy didn't want to do anymore Star Trek movies, but was convinced to do it if he dies. But after filming he realized the movie was something special and therefore left the possibility of returning. * Kobayashi Maru no-win-scenario test - remember first Star Trek (2009) you watched? Young cadet Jim Kirk took 3 times. 3rd time he beat it by cheating while eating Apple... * Khan's wife was a crew member on the Enterprise during the TOS Episode "Space Seed". She was a Khan sympathizer and decided to leave the ship and follow Khan into exile on Ceti Alpha 5. * The Genesis Stage 3 simulation on planet was the first CGI for movie I believe. * Remember the young Carol Marcus on Star Trek Into Darkness? * You comment on Carol Marcus explaining Genesis as if you are 4 years old! Welcome to technical babble of Trek! The beauty is most terms and theories are grounded in science, or speculated by our science community. This is why NASA and other folks working on space related projects are big Star Trek fans - because it's our future. * Star Trek has been a progressive show and in its belief in diversity, equality, and inclusion. In other words, DEI! * Remember Star Trek Into Darkness? The role was reversed where Kirk save the ship. * The JJ Abrams Star Trek trilogy is made for Star Wars fans, so not surprised you like them better. Star Trek II, III, and IV are considered trilogy. Hope you can finish the next two at least. It'll be worth it. General consensus has even numbered Trek movies being best while the odd ones are more subjectively less.

I've been looking forward to this reaction. This is the best Star Trek movie ever. Mary, I'm not sure if you know this but this movie is based on a episode of Star Trek The original series called Space Seed. I like your cosplay.
