Original series only? Just want to make sure.

John Kim

TOS SPACE SEED, balance of terror, The menagerie, Mirror Mirror, A Piece of the Action, Patterns of Force, the Omega Glory

Nowhere Man

The finale of Next Generation is the most moving ST episode I've ever seen, although it has far more impact if you've watched all 7 seasons. Pretty much all of Strange New Worlds has been fun, and it's now airing the 3rd season. It's set during the latter years of Pike's command and the early years of Kirk's command. Kirk in this show is forgettable, but Spock is hilarious.

I'm going to go with the Original Series episodes since you just did Space Seed. My Top 10 List includes: 1. Balance of Terror 2. Mirror, Mirror 3. Amok Time 4. Space Seed 5. The Doomsday Machine 6. The Enterprise Incident 7. Plato's Stepchildren 8. Shore Leave 9. The Way to Eden 10. Let that be Your Last Battlefield I look forward to seeing what your other fans put down too. Have a great day.

City on the Edge of Forever (season 1 episode 28) in the top spot, definitely. There are some other great ones I'm just not too particular about (Balance of Terror, Amok Time, The Doomsday Machine, Let That Be Your Last Battlefield for example).

Can I ask why u wanna watch these episodes out of order? Wouldn’t it be confusing regarding the storylines, characters, narrative, etc.? Why not just watch the WHOLE show?

Jay Jay

Probably because it would be too time consuming to watch the whole show. Remember she's has tons of other things to watch and react to as not everyone likes Star Trek.

RP

Honestly not sure you’d get much out of watching the OS now, yes the trekkies have great nostalgia and memories of the first iteration but the shows are kinda flimsy and you’re already beyond that initial intrigue and into the culmination of the franchise. Not saying you shouldn’t watch them , you really should. but I’m more interested in you’re reaction to ‘The Next Generation’ and ‘Stange New Worlds’ That’s my 2 cents. 🍻

RP

Then why bother at all? It’s like only watching 3 episodes per season of Game of Thrones. Do the show or don’t. If it takes a year that’s fine. Why is this a problem?

Balance of terror is my first choice...Second Amok time....Journey to Babel is my third choice in the TOS category...My fourth is with the next generation called Encounter at Farpoint parts 1 & 2...And my next for next Gen would be A matter of honour...My Seventh would be for DS9 called "Emissary"...My eighth in DS9 would be Trials and Tribble-ations. My ninth for DS9 is Call to Arms, which might also be ten too... I did not give any details to any of the titles as that would give too much info on what the shows are about, and I guess you should check them on your own to enjoy them! Sorry, this is a mix of different series...I did not see TOS, but if you do go further into Star Trek, I do hope you will enjoy watching these...

Well would you rather have Mary react to 10 episodes or none at all? There's no pleasing some of you guys 🤦 Y'all should be thankful she's reacting to any og Star Trek in the first place. I swear a lot of you Star Trek fans are toxic.

City on the Edge of Forever Trouble With Tribbles

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Some really great suggestions so far, I hit em all up with some ♥️s. I don't think I saw The Galileo Seven, The Naked Time, or The Corbomite Maneuver anywhere. Good episodes in their own right as well as very useful for understanding the friend dynamic between our top tip three guys, Kirk, Spick, and McCoy.

largo778 .

The two part episode The Cage.

I'm looking forward to the animated series "Maul: Shadow Lord" .......oh wait a minute.........

Chris Saguisag

1. Balance of Terror 2. Arena 3. The Doomsday Machine 4. The Ultimate Computer 5. The Trouble With Tribbles 6. The Enterprise Incident 7. Journey to Babel 8. The Tholian Web 9. Amok Time 10. A Taste of Armageddon

Given Mary already watched all 6 TOS Movies by now (or this month) and may just want to go back to enjoy certain episodes, specifically with Spock, I take it's not all about the story but Leonard Nimoy specifically or active involvement. I don't remember much from all TOS episodes. but favorite episodes besides Space Seed and Spock episodes are: * City on the Edge of Forever * Trouble with the Tribble * Balance of Terror * Amok Time * Mirror, Mirror Most of my favorites episodes from pre-Kelvin timeline (JJ Abrams/Chris Pine movies) are with The Next Generation (ST:TNG), and many from Voyager (ST:VOY), Enterprise (ST:ENT), and DS9 (ST:DS9). But if Mary likes to jump ahead of other reactors doing / have done Star Trek TV series, maybe do Star Trek Discovery and the spinoff ST:Strange New World? These are pre TOS timelines so not dependent on older TV series and movies. And the recent series are made with more gen Y and Z audience.

TechJJ

Leonard Nimoy as Spock has a major role in a 2-parter story withing The Next Generation (ST:TNG) series. TNG has 4 movies. First (ST VII) has both TOS crew with TNG crew. ST VII is arguably the best TNG movie and frequently rated highest of all ST movies by fans. The other two are highly rated by female audience and the other with epic space battle and a very likeable villain. Might be worth considering watching 4-6 episodes per season then the movies, like PiB.

Talk about a hornets nest for Trekkers. Certainly "City on the Edge of Forever" and for me, definitely if you want emotions to flow ... "The Inner Light" when Picard lives an entire lifetime on another planet and finds romance. It's both blissful and gutwrenching.

Paul Rich

I happened to know the Nimoys growing up. They lived by me in L.A. I know you don't message or email but I could show you photos of me and them.

Paul Rich

There are so many she would love and viewers too watching her responses. Mary would certainly giggle at the Tibble episode. Your choices are good ones. I chose "The Inner Light" when Picard ages on another planet and finds love for it's pur emotional impact. Same for City on the Edge of Forever.

Max

1. "The City on the Edge of Forever" 2. "Amok Time" (more about Vulcan culture in this one) 3. "Mirror, Mirror" 4. "Balance of Terror" 5. "The Corbomite Maneuver" 6. "The Doomsday Machine" 7. "A Taste of Armageddon" 8./9. "The Menagerie" (two parter that won a Hugo Award) 10. "Journey to Babel" (more backstory about Spock in this one)

Paul Rich

Balance of Terror is excellent based on the film Run Silent Run Deep.
