Wood Elf Healer - Part 1

Mursi Beaucoup

Hi Andy, just wanted to say that the intro part with the photoshop explaination is always super useful and I've started incorporating it in my process to improve by paint jobs.

What an absolute treat! Sitting here with my coffee on a sunday morning, enjoying every minute of that video. Wood Elves are my absolute favourites in all of Warhammer and green obviously my favourite color. Just fantastic to watch and learn. Regarding the Model Color paints. I'm in the same boat, I love them even though they are so old. They just have the right amount of matte finish. It's not too matte, but also not too satin. I've tried the new formula and didn't like it as much, so I might stock up on some of my absolute favourites from the old ones. Curious to hear your thoughts. And the worst bit is, they removed Golden Olive from the range. 😢 I live in Germany and I'd love to come out to Golden Demon just to see this piece in person. But not sure I can make it. Cheers!

Dungeons and Dry Gins

This is turning out beautifully! I love the approach of making the secondary areas a bit less interesting, I think it's easy to overwork each area and lose the overall scheme. I frequently find myself crippled by the planning/research stage of a project, most of the time the paint ends up being super dull. I'm going to keep referring back to this video, to remind me to stop over planning colours and just paint 😅

For Andy. I think the photoshop breakdowns are super informative and very useful. Please keep doing them. One small request would be that when you do a more technical skill, like glazing / blending / feathering, that you swipe a piece of paper or your thumb so that we can better see the consistency. The wet palate video is helpful but not always useful. Sometimes it’s easy to see on the model and sometimes it isn’t. Swiping something first would let us see the transparency / consistency of the paint better. As a newer painter I think it would really help me figure out what consistency I need my paint for the more difficult skills. Love you dioramas and basing tutorials. Thank you for the content.

Yeah man! I was one of the people at Nova banging the drum for your content to use this approach more often. Super useful, especially when you break down the mistakes on gold nmm as you did with real world references but still breaking down the colours to paints a smooth brain like me can recognize. Overall this video was a gift. Like a statue of an elephant, with the trunk up even!

This is fantastic content Andy - exactly the sort of thing that makes a real difference: the insight behind the choices and the theory that explains it are what enables people to learn, grow and understand what happens in their own experimentation. Also, from a personal taste perspective, I’ve always really liked your colour schemes and choices, so it’s great to get to know how you develop them. I’d love to know how you do the colour dropper thing in Photoshop too, as I can use the picker but can’t get the blobs to appear on the image. The mini is looking great and I can’t wait to see the diorama. Cheers!

I am 100% behind this comprehensive approach to explaining your Golden Daemon projects. It was pretty disappointing to discover that feedback is forbidden and the prospect of trying to dive into this competition is daunting at best. It was the only reason I had entered and the whole thing kinda put me off even trying - especially when some nutter "speedpaints" a necron and wins silver XD. So thank you for producing these series and I look forward to seeing this project develop

the advice on colour theory/colour picking and composition was really valuable, sort of stuff that seems obvious when its explained, but the gears never start turning unless someone kicks them!

Tabletop Saga

I think the balance between theory and painting is pretty much perfect in this video. I find the colour theory stuff really useful, but seeing it then applied in the same video brings it to life. I would definitely like to see more videos like this! 👌🏻

All the other comments hit the nail on the head. Found lots of value in the theory and composition conversation. Thanks

Ref the question on format. I really like the more in depth, where you chat about why you choose to do what you do as well as how you're doing it. The photoshop bit is great. I've just gone back and watched the Draxus jade armour video and I really like where you leave a lot of the footage in there and explain everything. I know this is making the videos a lot longer but, I for one prefer that. I don't mind sitting for an hour of so Learning. I often watch the. All a few times anyway.

Emergency Sushi

I really appreciated the format, and I agree that the Photoshop bits help understand. To me, the most interesting part was the colour theory section, how you balanced warmth vertically on the mini. Oh, and the trousers are fine!

I think the format works great 👍
