Thank you for answering the questions! Have a great week! My biggest problem with the new Model Color is their smell. It sound’s like I’ve lost my mind, but they smell in a certain way that’s different to before and it’s really off putting to me personally and I don’t know why. My brother for example doesn’t get the same reaction. :D I’d use mainly AK, because I feel like they are very similar to Vallejo, as you described, but I don’t want to buy any more products from them after their whole genocide/holocaust ad campaing/book thing. I’ve been in a real “don’t know what to do” phase for a while now, tried Army Painter Fanatics & Monument Pro Acryl. But I’m so much looking forward to your paints. I just want a couple really really good colors and get back to enjoying the painting and stop worrying so much about all other brands and stuff.. Thanks for all you do, Cheers!

I do mostly use the Golden So Flat range, though I have never thought I was cool! I’m colour blind so I struggle to see the subtleties of paint tones just from looking; being able to read the pigments used and look their properties up online is a massive help to me. The So Flat range is consistently matte and has similar consistency to model paints, so for me it’s the best of both worlds.

Thanks for answering my questions, great to get your thoughts. Just to say, the Golden So Flats (Soflat all one word is how they brand it) and Liquitex Acrylic Gouache ('gwash') are not heavy body paints. They're quite similar to matte model paints, as Steven says in another comment. Marco Frisoni is a big proponent and uses them almost exclusively for traditional brush painting. I did think the idea of them sounded cool, but still find model paints easier to use in general. (Not intending to come across as 'um actually' here!)

Painting question - how would you approach painting splattered paint? Like painting splashed paint at scale? I guess the best example would be the Neil Roberts cover for the audio drama "censure" with aeonid thiels helmet being drenched in red paint. Thanks guys

Hey guys, thanks for the helpful tips (and for speaking the truth about stuff like varnish, using metallic paints on a wet palette and so on; your myth-busting has been so helpful to me over the years) 😃. Another painting question for the next podcast: on a recent video Andy mentioned adding 'noise', which reminded me that I've been meaning to ask about that. I've seen it on his NMM and it looks fantastic - really adds 'flavour' - but when I try to do it, it just creates a nasty mess that messes up the light volumes (though to be fair, I'm exceptionally bad at those anyway 😂). Any tips for how to paint noise successfully in NMM? Cheers!

I'm new to Patreon - are these comments the best place to ask questions?

Anyone recommend a good black primer that goes through an airbrush

Nik

Hi guys, love the podcast! Henry, do you mind explaining a bit further what happened to your Detolf,? Do you think it is preventable ? I’m asking because I also got one and it definitely soaunds awful 🙈 And Andy have you ever fancied painting aeldari rangers or shroud runners? I would love to know how you would paint the cloaks in your army scheme? But I would guess that those are probably something for after you have painted the different updated aspect warriors or phoenix lord.

Don't know where to put this but suggested account to have a look at in upcoming CoP - @Fanniminiature

Great philosophy on choosing the colour of paint you like. I personally enjoy flitting between lines to find the colours I like. I’ve also had great experience with certain colours in the pro acryl and two thin coats lines. Really looking forward to giving the cult paints a try!

Yeaaaaah, more tanks! Leman Russ video is one of my favorites

Hi all. Pretty new to the whole patreon thing but loving the videos. I have tried a few set palettes and had some issues and wanted to get some idea of the ones you use and which ones you would recommend. Thanks
