30 years in the making | How I finally painted my Warhammer Beastmen | Thanks Fat Bloke!

It's tribute time! Black furred Beastmen and Bacon Baguettes. Henry revisits a classic White Dwarf article, inspired by Paul Sawyer's Tale of Four Gamers. A perfect Friday! Thanks Henry

I may not eat bacon anymore, but I can appreciate the significance of black goats and processed pork ❤️

Hi Henry, thanks for this video, which I really enjoyed. Personally I love the paint job; I’m guessing though that your pal Dan is probably still going to try to take the p*ss out of you about it (17 shades of black and grey😂). Two questions: (1) - how bad is the cast and what do you do about slips? I’m a big fan of the plastic Gors (mainly for their heads), but the bits where their chests were just knackered really annoyed me, and some of their skulls and trinkets really only look ok from one viewing angle, so while I’d love to paint this mini, I’m guessing that it might be past my tolerance threshold for crappy casting, which is pretty low. (2) - Re your question about The Old World, is there any chance of a video on the Black Ork Big Boss? Cheers!

Martin Wolf

Absolutely loved this video and the result. I love Wood Elves, always have, but I’m playing Age of Sigmar, but I can’t stop thinking about my favourite army, so I think I will do them and play them as Lumineth, even though I’m hesitant because well, old models. Either way, I enjoy the old school colorful stuff, but I really love the more sepia, muted tones, but still want to include some colors. Really torn. I’m currently trying to work out how exactly I want to do it, but your video helped and motivated me even more to go for it! Thanks Henry! Really looking forward to more Fantasy/Old World stuff!

The woodies are old, but also so many fantastic sculpts

John M

Would definitely like to see more Beastmen from you (especially the battalion box/infantry)!

Hi Rob. Dan is actually a brilliant hobby chum. My little group here has 100% kept me in the hobby. I'd probably have returned the cast and got a new one, but I've had friends receive there's and it's been great. I just had to do a fair bit of carving and filling, and even then there were areas that looked off. If never painted the old gor, but what you've said is something I was apprehensive about. And do you mean the newish resin one that got released with their book?

Rob Cass

Hi Henry, yes, that newish resin Ork boss is the one I’m thinking of. It’s almost always out of stock, but I imagine that GW sent you one when it was released…

Ed

Great paint job, please do some Cathay, and some wood elves if you have time 🤞

cultofpaint

Cathay I promise. Woodies are further down the list!

Vvar_vvithout_end

Nevermind Cathay, please do more Beastmen! Some questions: initial aribrush 2-stage highlight, do you add more rakarth to the mix for step 2? Doing an army, how would you paint the banners, same way as you do the main fabric on his hood?

cultofpaint

Yeah just kept adding Rakarth into the mix. And ys i'd do the banners the same, with plenty of glyphs.

Vvar_vvithout_end

Brilliant, thank you! What about the metallics, something like iron warriors with a black legion wash and silver scratches?

Vvar_vvithout_end

Hey Henry, I’m extremely sorry to hassle you about this, I know it’s rude and probably mega annoying but have you had a minute to finish up that chieftain? I assembled, airbrushed and oil washed my first 30 gors following this tutorial, would love to know how to best tackle the armour and wraps on the axe!

Ross Evans

The bacon baguette was a nice touch at the end. Great work!
