Hi everyone,

I hope you're having a great weekend. Here's the next Heresy recipe video, where we take a look at the greatest of all legions ( that aren't the Alpha Legion). You'll be seeing quite a lot of dangles from us, with an in depth series on painting the Lion for display, and several articles on creating a battle worn drednought. Plus my mighty 1st Legion project that I definitely will achieve and not get distracted from.....

Enjoy!

Henry

How to paint DARK ANGELS Space Marines for THE HORUS HERESY from Forgeworld.

In this video we take a look at how to paint Dark Angels Space Marines for The Horus Heresy. Just in time for Book 9 Crusade from Forgeworld. A lot of our Heresy schemes are based off the original ones published by Forgeworld, which we have updated and tweaked over the years as better paints become available and to try and keep the amount of mixing and stages to a minimum. It's also another different recipe for how to represent Black Power Armour, which should come in handy for all sorts of armies for Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar etc. Paints used: Tamiya Flat White XF2 VMC Black 70.950 VMC White 70.951 VGA Black 72.751 GW Iron Warriors GW Dark Angels Green Contrast GW Flestearers Red Contrast GW Black Templar Contrast GW Kabalite Green GW Moot Green W&N Black Oil Paint W&N Burnt Umber Oil Paint Paint list key: GW: Games workshop VMC: Vallejo model colour VMA: Vallejo model air VGC: Vallejo game colour VGA: Vallejo game air VMCS: Vallejo metal colour series S75: Scale 75 AK: AK Interactive W&N: Winsor & Newton Below is our affiliate link, and the only place to purchase our signature series airbrushes. Really enjoying these legion colours Henry.

Thanks mate. Trying to present the simplest versions of each. And we’ll explore how to add more to them via articles on here.

Congratulations on the puppy! What's her name?!

When you are doing your gloss/matte varnish mix to knock back the residual gloss from the varnish stage later, what was the ratio again and what varnish do you use (I recall you were using UK ultra-matte but is it an acrylic or polyurethane gloss?

cultofpaint

This mix was 6:1 matte:gloss. I use whatever is to hand for the gloss, in this case it was the polyurethane. It usually takes a little tweaking to get it how you want so if you know an out the pot satin you like them I’d go for that and save messing about with mixing.

Are there any pictures you would be willing to share of that larger Dark Angels army you were working on? Would love to see how these transferred into that larger army!
